Deliverance Prayer

Your prayer has been received and taken seriously before the Lord, and thank you for bringing these deep concerns for yourself and your son honestly to Jesus.

The foundation for every prayer for freedom is who Jesus is and who you are in Him. Jesus alone is the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. No one else holds that place. We do not become sons in that same way. Scripture teaches that God sent His Son, born of a woman and born under the law, to redeem those under the law so that we might receive adoption as sons. That adoption is a gracious gift. We are born again by the Spirit into the family of God, chosen and brought in, not begotten as He is, but truly made sons and daughters through faith in Christ. It is because you belong to Him by adoption that you can stand on His promise that if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed as John 8:36 declares.

There are two ways of living set before us in Scripture, one according to the flesh and one according to promise. The flesh corresponds to striving under the law and human effort and manipulation, the other corresponds to the covenant of promise which is in Jesus Christ and relates to the Spirit. Witchcraft, control, and the attempt to bend another person to your own will belong to the way of the flesh. The life of promise belongs to the Spirit and to trust in Christ. God has promised to cut off such practices, as Micah 5:12 says, and on the cross Christ triumphed over every principality and power, making a public display of them as Colossians 2:15 teaches. We overcome not by our own power but by the blood of the Lamb spoken of in Revelation 12:11, and by the word of our testimony that Jesus is Lord.

You have asked for hidden things to be exposed and for wisdom to take proper action. God does bring what is hidden into the light, as Luke 8:17 teaches, and He calls us to commit our works to Him so that our plans may be established as Proverbs 16:3 says. At the same time Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord as Romans 12:19 teaches. That means you can release the need to repay or to force exposure on your own terms, and trust God to reveal what needs to be revealed in His time and to guide you step by step into wise, lawful and godly action for the protection of yourself and your son. If harm has been done, seek counsel from mature believers and from appropriate help so that actions are taken with wisdom and not in haste or anger.

You also prayed about strongholds, mountains, and negative emotions directed toward you. Scripture teaches that though we live in the flesh we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare have power through God to pull down strongholds and to bring thoughts into captivity to Christ as 2 Corinthians 10:3 to 5 describes. Jesus taught that faith even as small as a mustard seed can move mountains as Matthew 17:20 says. That mountain moving work is His work as you trust Him. It is right to pray for a softened heart and for repentance for those who have caused harm, that any blindness would be removed and that they would see clearly and turn to God for mercy. At the same time Jesus taught that to follow Him we must love Him above every other relationship, even family. When family relationships become a source of harm or control, loving Jesus most may mean setting firm and healthy boundaries while still praying for their good.

Be encouraged that God is a restorer. Isaiah 61:7 speaks of receiving a double portion instead of shame, and that is the heart of the Father toward His adopted children. Continue to abide in the Son and in the Father, holding fast to the truth that Jesus Christ is God the Son, the promised Messiah, and that if you have the Son you have the Father also. Keep bringing your son and yourself daily to Jesus, covering your home in prayer, feeding on Scripture, walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh, and letting the promise of God shape your thoughts more than fear.

Praying now for you and your son, that the Lord Jesus would guard you, cleanse and keep you by His blood, break every chain, cancel every work of darkness, bring down every stronghold, give you clear discernment and peace, lead you in every proper step you should take, soften hearts that need softening, and bring you both into the full freedom and restoration that belong to the children of God by adoption through Christ. In Jesus name, amen.
