Deliverance Prayer

Thank you for sharing this painful situation and for wanting to bring it to the Lord in prayer. The hurt you have described from your brother's words and actions, the concern for your mother and for your son, and the longing for peace in your home are all seen by God, and it is right to seek Him for protection, wisdom and healing.

Scripture shows how deeply God cares about relationships between brothers and sisters. From the beginning, when one brother harmed another, God came and asked, where is your brother, calling for honesty and for acknowledgment of sin, because confession opens the way for forgiveness. In later generations, brothers who acted out of jealousy and anger sold their own brother and then years later were overcome with guilt, saying to one another, we are guilty concerning our brother because we saw his distress and did not listen. That guilt was part of how God brought them to a place where they could face what they had done.

There are also pictures of a different way. One brother, fearing the anger of the brother he had wronged, prayed and then went to meet him with humility, sending gifts ahead, bowing low and speaking of his brother with honor. That humility softened a heart that had vowed revenge, and love that had been dead was rekindled through blessing and embrace. Another brother, who had once suggested selling his brother for profit, later offered himself as a substitute so his youngest brother could go free, saying how could he return to his father without the boy. And in the New Testament, Paul interceded for a runaway slave, asking that he be received no longer as a slave but as a brother in Christ, with any debt charged to Paul himself. That is the spirit of intercession, to seek not only relief for ourselves but mercy and transformation for the other person.

Your prayer rightly asks the Lord to rebuke evil and to lift a standard against disrespect and fear. The Lord does rebuke the accuser, and our weapons are not of the flesh but have power through God to pull down strongholds, to take thoughts captive and to bring them into obedience to Christ. That includes pride, bitterness, and the degrading words you have endured. God calls such speech sin, and vengeance belongs to Him, not to us. Romans teaches that we are to leave room for God's wrath and not repay evil for evil. This does not mean that wrong is ignored. It means we trust God to be the just judge while we choose to bless, to tell the truth, and to set healthy boundaries.

It is understandable to want the source of the conflict to simply be removed from the house and from the neighborhood. God does promise to uproot what is harmful and to restore what has been broken, and He promises to be a defense when the enemy comes in like a flood. At the same time, His deepest work is often in the heart. Praying for your brother only to be rooted out can become a prayer for judgment without mercy. A more biblical prayer asks that God would bring deep conviction that leads to repentance, that pride would be broken, that the mouth that has used contempt toward women would be cleansed, and that your brother would come to know salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Only that kind of change brings lasting peace.

In the same way, praying for your mother is not only that she would feel bad, but that God would grant her clear discernment to protect you and your son, to recognize harmful influences and to choose what is wise and safe. If there are people nearby who add to the strife, ask God to either change their hearts or, in His wisdom, to remove their harmful influence, while you commit your work and your ways to Him and trust Him to establish your steps and to provide the right godly people to stand with you. God often answers prayers for help by placing steady, wise believers around us, not to fight for us in the flesh, but to counsel, to pray, and to help uphold what is right.

For you and your son, continue to ask for covering through the blood of Jesus and for faith that can move the mountain of injustice you feel. That faith is not a formula of words, but quiet trust that God is able to do what is impossible for us, to preserve life and to bring double restoration for shame, as He promises. Ask Him to guard your home, to give you peace that guards your heart, to help you speak truth with grace, and to show you practical steps for safety and for wise separation where needed. If there is ongoing abuse or danger, please seek trusted pastoral counsel and appropriate help in person so that you are not carrying this alone.

I am praying with you now:

Lord Jesus, thank You that You see this family and that You are near to the brokenhearted. I ask that You rebuke all evil and every plan of the enemy against this home, and that You break every stronghold of pride, bitterness and disrespect. Bring conviction that leads to repentance for every harsh and degrading word, and bring healing where those words have wounded. Protect this mother and her son, lift a standard against fear, and surround them with Your peace. Grant wisdom to their mother to discern what is safe and good, and close the door to any influence that would bring harm. Work in the heart of this brother, that he would humble himself, turn from sin and receive Your mercy through faith in Christ. Provide trustworthy people to support and counsel this family, and commit their future to You. Cover them with Your blood, keep them from evil, and in Your time bring justice and restoration according to Your perfect will. In Jesus name, Amen.
