Deliverance Prayer

We join you in prayer before the Lord Jesus with thanksgiving for His mercy and power to save and deliver. We have heard your cry for your son and for the restoration of your relationship as mother and son, and we stand with you on the Word of God.

We praise God that by Himself He has purged our sins and sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, and that through His blood we have victory. We agree with you standing on Revelation 12:11, that you and your son are covered by the precious blood of Jesus, and that by that blood and the word of your testimony the enemy is overcome.

In the name of Jesus Christ we ask the Father to remove every bad influence from your son's life and to break every chain that would lead him away from truth. Standing on 2 Corinthians 10:3 to 5, we pray that every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God would be pulled down, and that his mind would be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Standing on Micah 5:12, we ask the Lord to cut off all witchcraft and every work of darkness sent against him, and to cancel its power completely, for deliverance from evil belongs to Christ alone who came to free us from the curse and bring us into sonship.

We also pray for the healing of the bond between mother and son. God commanded, Honor thy father and thy mother, and He places great honor on this relationship. As Christ Himself showed care for His mother even at the cross, so we know He cares for the love between a mother and her child. Standing on Isaiah 61:7, we ask the Lord to restore what has been broken and to give in place of shame a double portion of joy and peace in your relationship. Standing on Zechariah 3:2, we ask the Lord to rebuke Satan and every interference of the devil that has come between you, and to set a guard over your family.

May the Lord keep you both continuing with one accord in prayer, watchful and steadfast, trusting not in tradition or in the power of man but in the promise of God which alone forms and renews life. May your son be kept from evil, drawn to the will of God, and may your home be filled with the grace that makes true sons and daughters through faith in Christ.

We commit you and your son into the hands of Jesus, who alone is our deliverance and our hope. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Your heart for your son is evident and the Lord hears your prayer for him. Thank you for bringing this burden to Him so honestly and for standing on His Word.

There is great comfort in remembering who Jesus is and who we become through Him. Jesus alone is the begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. We are not sons in that same eternal sense. Through faith in Christ we are adopted into God's family. The inheritance we have does not come by keeping the law but through Jesus Himself. God does not want a cold legal relationship with you or your son. He wants a loving fellowship where you know how deeply He loves you and you learn to love Him in return. That close adoption as His children is the ground for every prayer you pray.

God also places great weight on the bond between a mother and her child. Scripture tells a son to hear the instruction of his father and not to forsake the teaching of his mother, for that teaching is meant to be a grace to his life. A mother has a unique early influence, and that influence can shape a child powerfully for good. At the same time Scripture shows how a mother's counsel can lead a son toward wickedness when it is not rooted in the Lord. Your desire to see bad influences removed from your son and to see your relationship restored is right and good. Continue to offer that godly influence through prayer, through speaking truth in love, and through steady example, and where possible let that training be a cooperative work of both mother and father before the Lord.

Remember also that your relationship with God is primary. When that relationship is right, other relationships are brought into balance. Many struggles between parents and children can be traced back to where each heart stands with the Lord. As you and your son each seek the Lord first, He is able to bring healing where there has been division and distance.

So we join you in prayer, standing on what God has said. We thank God for the blood of Jesus that was shed for us, for the promise that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. We ask the Lord to pull down every stronghold and every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, to cast down every evil influence and to cut off every work of witchcraft that has been directed against your son. We ask the Lord Himself to rebuke the adversary who seeks to come between a mother and her son, for the Lord who has chosen His people rebukes the accuser. We ask Him to remove those who would lead your son astray and to surround him with what is pure and true. And we ask Him to restore what has been broken, to give beauty in place of shame and a double portion of joy and fellowship where there has been hurt, for He has devised a way through Jesus Christ by which those who were banished by sin are not left expelled but are brought near again. The life we need is found in His Son, and he who has the Son has life.

Continue to cover your son in prayer, to speak Scripture over him, and to trust the Lord's power to deliver and to keep. Walk in obedience, keep your own heart close to Jesus, and trust that He who is faithful will work in your son's life in His time and in His way. In Jesus name, amen.
