Deliverance Prayer

You are not hidden from the Lord in this. He sees the manipulation, the cruelty, and the double face. You have asked him to expose what is hidden and to rebuke what is at work, and that is a right prayer. Nothing covered will stay covered. But guard your own heart, because the enemy would like to turn your desire for justice into a root of bitterness. You cannot afford to give your brother that foothold. The wrong done to you is real, but the poison of unforgiveness would injure you and your son more than it injures him.

There is also a difference between reconciliation and living together. Jacob could bless Esau and embrace him, yet later they dwelt apart because their households could not remain together in peace. Separation is not always the same as unforgiveness. If your brother is harming your son or creating an unsafe home, you are called to act as a protector, not to keep him in the house while you wait for him to change. Praying for a door to close is not necessarily an ungodly prayer. God may be clearing the way for your own household to breathe.

Remember Joseph. His brothers meant evil, but God meant it for good. He sent Joseph ahead, through abuse and false accusation, to preserve life. That does not excuse what the brothers did, but it means their sin could not stop God's purpose for Joseph. The same holds for you. Your brother's behavior cannot thwart what God has for you and your son. Entrust the outcome to the true Judge.

Jesus is the true Judah, the one who stepped in as surety when we were guilty and unable to free ourselves. That is where your real deliverance rests, not in outmaneuvering your brother, but in Christ who has already disarmed the powers against you. Keep praying for exposure, for protection, for restoration. But also pray for your brother's heart of stone to become flesh. Only God can do that. You are not called to manufacture his repentance, and you are not required to remain under his control while he remains unrepentant. Ask the Lord for wisdom to separate peaceably, protect your son, and leave vengeance in his hands.

Psalm 91 is yours. Isaiah 61 is yours. The Lord will restore what has been devoured, but he will do it in his way and often through boundaries you set by faith. Do not let fear become your master. Let the Son make you free, and you will be free indeed.
