Deliverance Prayer

Your prayer speaks much of rebuking, binding, and canceling another person. Bring your fear and hurt to the Lord, but examine the spirit of it. When Christ was called a demoniac and a Samaritan, when men plotted against Him and sought to kill Him, He did not answer with curses or formulas. He answered with great gentleness. If you are being harassed, pray first for your own heart. Ask God to search you and cleanse you from resentment and suspicion.

The Christian warfare is not against flesh and blood. You have no commission to bind human beings as if they were demons, nor to cancel them by your words. The authority of Matthew 18 belongs to the church’s discipline and the proclamation of the gospel, not to personal decrees against a person. The precious blood of Jesus is not a charm to cover a prayer. It is the blood of the new covenant, shed for the remission of sins. Plead that blood by confessing your own sins and forgiving others, not by wielding it as a weapon against a soul.

Pray for deliverance from evil, for protection, and for wisdom. Ask God to frustrate every work of darkness, but ask also that He would grant repentance and salvation to the one troubling you. Bless, do not curse. If there is real danger, seek the help of the church and lawful authorities. But do not let suspicion and self-chosen warfare make your prayers a stream of accusations against another person. Remember that you too were once unclean, and you were sanctified only by the kindness of God. Humble yourself. Pray for your enemy’s good. That is the victory that overcomes the world: faith working through love.

I have read your prayer and I stand with you in it. You are right to bring this to Jesus rather than trying to fight it in your own strength. What you are facing is real, but the person being used against you is not the true enemy. The battle is not against flesh and blood. The enemy wants you to become so fixed on the words and schemes sent against you that you lose sight of the Lord, and that is one of his oldest traps.

The Scriptures you stood on are good. The Lord rebukes the accuser. The weapons of our warfare are not of this world, and they are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds. But you do not have to keep cataloging every cruel act or imagining every demonic alliance. That can quietly become a way of feeding fear. The cure for fear is not more information about the enemy. It is remembering the Lord, great and awesome, and turning your eyes back to him.

Do not be surprised that this has come. Even after seasons of real blessing, the enemy tries to steal what God has done. That does not mean you are unprotected. It means the battle is real, so stand anyway. Nehemiah prayed and set watchmen. He also refused to be pulled away from the work God had given him. Do both. Pray, and take practical steps to guard your heart and home. If this person has access to you, use wisdom about how much access you allow. You do not have to answer every accusation or defend yourself against every lie. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is refuse the fight the enemy is trying to start.

The word of God in your heart is both shield and weapon. Keep it there, not only as verses to recite when afraid, but as the truth you actually trust. The covering you have asked for is yours in Christ. The blood of Jesus is not a formula you must wield with perfect words. It is the ground of your peace. You overcome by that blood and by the word of your testimony. God has sealed you, and the demonic has no final claim on you. Christ has already disarmed the powers. You are not trying to win a victory. You are standing in one.

So I ask with you: Lord Jesus, rebuke every force sent against this one. Cancel every wicked assignment, silence every accusing voice, and cover this one with your precious blood. Give wisdom to know what to refuse, what to ignore, and what to entrust to you. Replace fear with the peace that comes from knowing you are near. In Jesus' name, amen.
