We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who alone has the power to break every chain and set the captive free. First, we want to affirm that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We stand firmly on the truth that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
Father God, we thank You for the blood of Jesus that was shed for us, which speaks a better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24). We stand on the promise that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7) and that through His blood, we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7). We plead the blood of Jesus over this situation, covering every stronghold, every spirit of manipulation, and every scheme of the enemy that seeks to keep Your child bound.
We rebuke every tormenting spirit that is operating in this situation, in the mighty name of Jesus. The Word of God declares that the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). We command every spirit of fear, shame, and stagnation to flee, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We stand on Zechariah 3:2, declaring that the Lord rebuke you, Satan, and that He has chosen Jerusalem, He has chosen this child of God, and will not allow the enemy to have his way.
Father, we ask that You root out every area where the enemy has planted seeds of disobedience, complacency, or rebellion in this young man’s life. Your Word tells us in Jeremiah 12:14 that You will uproot the wicked from their land, and we ask that You uproot every ungodly influence that has kept him from walking in the fullness of Your will. Lord, we pray that You would open the door for him to move out of his parents’ home and establish him in his own dwelling, where he can grow in maturity, responsibility, and godliness. We stand on Proverbs 16:3, committing his ways to You, trusting that You will establish his thoughts and direct his steps.
We cancel every stronghold of shame and discomfort that has taken root in his life due to his current living situation. The enemy seeks to keep him bound in condemnation, but we declare that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, as 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 commands, and we tear down every argument and pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We declare that this mountain of stagnation will be moved by faith, as Jesus said in Matthew 17:20-21, for nothing will be impossible for those who believe.
Lord, we ask that You scatter the network of manipulation, control, or fear that has kept him in this place. Just as You scattered the enemies of Israel in Exodus 23:27, we ask that You scatter every ungodly influence that seeks to keep him bound. Rescue him, Lord, as You have promised in 2 Timothy 4:18, and bring him into the fullness of the freedom You have for him. We declare that he is not a slave to fear, to his past, or to the expectations of others, but he is a child of God, called to walk in the liberty of Christ (Galatians 5:1).
Father, we also want to gently address the issue of living with parents in a way that may not align with biblical maturity. While honoring one’s parents is a commandment (Exodus 20:12), there comes a time when a man must leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife (Genesis 2:24). If this young man is of age and capable, we encourage him to seek godly counsel and wisdom in pursuing independence, not out of rebellion, but out of a desire to grow in responsibility and stewardship. If he is not yet married, we pray that You would prepare him for a godly spouse and a marriage that honors You, where both husband and wife can grow together in Christ.
We also want to address the importance of walking by the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 tells us to walk by the Spirit, and we will not gratify the desires of the flesh. If there are areas of his life where he is not fully surrendered to You, we pray that You would convict him gently and lead him into repentance. Help him to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24) and to live a life that is pleasing to You.
Lord, we ask that You would give him the courage to step out in faith, trusting that You will provide for his needs. Your Word says in Philippians 4:19 that You will supply all his needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray that You would open doors of opportunity for him, whether in employment, housing, or relationships, that align with Your will. Give him wisdom to discern Your leading and the strength to follow through.
Finally, we declare that this young man is not a victim of his circumstances but a victor in Christ. We speak life, freedom, and purpose over his situation. We declare that the chains are broken, the strongholds are torn down, and the doors of opportunity are opening. We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already ours in Christ Jesus.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and declare these things. Amen.
