We join you in lifting up this man before the throne of grace and we thank you for bringing his need before the Lord with such compassion and discernment. We agree together in the name of Jesus, for Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20 that if two of us will agree on earth concerning anything that we will ask, it will be done for us by our Father who is in heaven, and that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there among us.
We praise God with you for the cross and for the suffering of His holy Son Jesus for all who believe, for it is by His blood that we have redemption and deliverance from every chain. We are encouraged that you recognize the Lord knows the plans He has for this man, for it is written in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, and in Isaiah 55:8-9 that His thoughts and His ways are far higher than ours. He has not forgotten this man who is His child, even while he has strayed.
We see the burden you carry for his false identity and for the sinful relationships and activities that have led him away from the narrow path. Scripture warns us in Matthew 7:13-14 to enter in by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it, but narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it. When a man follows his own desires into sexual immorality outside of marriage, whether fornication or adultery, he sins against his own body and against God, for it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. The Lord calls such relationships sinful not to condemn but to free, because He desires to give a new identity. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 we read, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. His true identity is not found in those sinful relationships but in Christ alone.
We also hear your concern about the evil woman in his life and the ungodly influences in his household where he is controlled and blackmailed and even his life may be in danger. The Word warns us plainly about this in Proverbs 5:3-5 and Proverbs 6:24-26, that the lips of an adulteress drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and to keep us from the evil woman and from the flattery of the strange woman's tongue. We are also told in 1 Corinthians 15:33, Don't be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals, and in 2 Corinthians 6:14 not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. To separate from such influences is not hatred but obedience and wisdom, and a necessary step toward deliverance.
We pray together for him now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your holy Son who suffered and died and rose again for us. We thank You for Your mercy and for Your power to deliver. Lord, we lift up this man to You. You know his name, his dwelling, and every detail of his life. We ask that You open his eyes to see the clear and unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ, that he is fearfully and wonderfully made and called to be holy as You are holy. Break his stony heart, Lord, and fulfill Your promise in Ezekiel 36:26, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Soften his heart for Your glory and give him courage to turn from the broad way and to follow the narrow path that leads to life.
Father, give him understanding to fear Your holy name, for Proverbs 9:10 says, The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. Teach him in Proverbs 3:7 not to be wise in his own eyes, but to fear Yahweh and depart from evil. Grant him repentance and give him strength to depart from evil and from the evil woman and from every ungodly influence in his household. Separate him, Lord, from those who control and blackmail him and place his life in danger. Surround him with Your protection, for You are his refuge and fortress. Set him free from every soul tie and chain of fornication and manipulation, for Your Word says in John 8:36, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. We pray that he will resist the devil and submit himself to You, so that the enemy will flee from him according to James 4:7.
Lord, help him to hear Your voice concerning Your holy plan for his life, to understand the depth of Your love that is greater than any counterfeit love he has known, and to walk in purity. If it is Your will for him to marry, we pray You will lead him to a godly marriage that honors You, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as You ordained from the beginning, built on faith in Christ and on holiness. Until then, keep him from all sexual immorality and give him a hunger for righteousness.
We thank You, Father, that You hear our prayer when we agree in Jesus name. We trust You to continue Your good work in him and to bring him into complete deliverance and restoration for Your glory. In the powerful and only saving name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
