Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you to carry, praying for this man who rented to you and wanting so much for him to know safety and clarity and to hear the Lord clearly. It is a caring thing to bring him before the Father as you have, asking for his heart to be softened and for him to be separated from influences that are harming him.

When someone feels controlled or pressured and may be unsafe, prayer is vital and practical support matters too. If you have any direct contact with him, encourage him gently to reach out for safe, trusted help in person, like a pastor or counselor or a local support service, and do not try to intervene alone in a situation where someone may be threatened or blackmailed. Continuing to be a steady, kind presence while you pray can mean a lot, and it also helps to have others praying with you so you are not carrying this by yourself.

Father, we lift this man to You and ask You to keep him safe, to give him wisdom and courage to step away from what harms him, and to show him Your love and Your way forward. Give our friend who is praying peace as he trusts You with this, and guide both of them to wise help and protection. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your burdened prayer and we join you in bringing this man before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to show mercy according to His great love.

You have prayed rightly that his eyes would be opened to his true identity in Christ. Scripture teaches that our identity is not found in our desires or in the relationships we have chosen, but in what Christ has done for sinners upon the cross. There alone is deliverance. As it is written, Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else. It is not to forms or feelings we look, but to what Christ has done, trusting in His one great sacrifice as our Substitute who bore sin in His own body on the tree. When a soul so looks, the word goes forth from heaven, Deliver him from going down to the pit, and he is delivered. He can deal in love with men even when the soil slips from under their feet and they are about to dash into that bottomless pit, and rescue them to the praise of the glory of His grace.

We pray with you that God would break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, that He would in the night season open the ear and seal instruction, that He may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from him. We ask that the Lord would grant not a superficial repentance which springs only from terror and withers in a night and is hardly more than skin deep, but a true repentance which gives God glory and is joined inseparably to faith. Repentance which ejects sin as an evil tenant and faith which admits Christ to be sole master of the heart must go together. Any repentance that keeps a soul from believing in Christ needs to be repented of, but the repentance that saves is consistent with looking to Jesus. In His name we preach repentance and remission of sins, for they go together in Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses from all sin all who truly repent and believe in Him, and for all who truly trust Him there is no condemnation.

We pray also for that deliverance of which it is written, He hath delivered us from the power of darkness. Satan is the prince of the power of the air, and sin has a fascinating power to hold men captive, but Christ has taught His people the mischief that comes from loving the world and has broken that power for all who are in Him. We ask the Father, to whom alone we must look for sanctification and deliverance, that He would separate this man from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, and from every controlling and hateful entanglement that would endanger his soul and body. We do not ask God to bless any relationship that lies outside His holy design, for marriage is ordained as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all intimacy belongs within that covenant alone, but we ask Him to grant understanding to fear His holy name, to depart from evil, and to walk in the narrow path which leads unto life.

May the Lord give him courage to follow that narrow way, to see the depth of divine love and the exceeding sinfulness of sin, and to live not unto himself but unto Him who died and rose again. And may He keep you faithful in intercession, believing that He hears when His people agree in the name of Jesus, and that He is able to do exceedingly above all we ask or think.

We commend him to Him who is able to keep him from falling, praying that he may yet say with joyous faith, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, and that his life may be spent in the service of Him who has delivered us from darkness into marvelous light. In the powerful name of Jesus our only Saviour we pray, amen.
