Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join you in agreement in the mighty name of Jesus and we thank you for bringing this man before the throne of grace with such burden and love. We praise God that you have prayed in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father and be saved. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5 and Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, Romans 10:13. We rejoice that you acknowledge the cross and the suffering of the holy Son of God for all who believe.

We stand with you for the deliverance of this man, your former landlord, whom you correctly call a child of God who has strayed. Your prayer aligns with the heart of God who desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. We hear your concern for his false identity, his stony heart, his entanglement in sinful relationships and the ungodly influences in his household, including the evil woman who controls and blackmails him and may even endanger his life. We take these concerns seriously because Scripture warns us plainly about such snares.

The Lord knows the plans He has for him, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11 and His thoughts are indeed higher than ours, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh, Isaiah 55:8. Yet God calls each of us to choose the narrow path, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life. Few are those who find it, Matthew 7:13-14. When a man enters into sinful relationships outside of godly marriage, he leaves that narrow path and follows his own desires, adopting a false identity. Scripture is clear that sexual immorality, whether fornication before marriage or adultery outside of marriage, is sin against God and against his own body. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. And we are warned about the strange or adulterous woman, For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death. Her steps lead straight to Sheol, Proverbs 5:3-5. We must not excuse or soften this sin but call it what God calls it, so that true deliverance can come through repentance.

We also hear your prayer for his stony heart to be broken and softened, and this is exactly what God promises to do for those who turn to Him. I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, Ezekiel 36:26. His true identity is not found in sin or in the control of others, but in Christ alone, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17. We pray that his eyes will be opened to see this unmistakable truth.

We agree with you that he needs to be separated from ungodly influences, even those in his household, for Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33 and Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity, 2 Corinthians 6:14. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, Proverbs 9:10, and that holy fear will give him understanding to depart from evil and from the evil woman in his life. We pray for his protection, for the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, and we claim the promise that If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36.

So together we pray. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross and for Your holy Son Jesus who suffered for us. We come in agreement in the name of Jesus for this man. Lord, You know him by name and You know the plans You have for his life. Open his eyes to see his true identity in Christ and to recognize the false identity he has taken on through sinful relationships and activities. Break his stony heart, Father, and give him a heart of flesh that hears Your voice and trembles at Your holy name. Give him courage to choose the narrow path that leads to life and to turn his back on every form of sexual immorality and ungodliness. We ask You to cut the cords of control, blackmail and manipulation that bind him, and to deliver him from every hateful and sinful relationship that endangers his body and soul. Separate him from ungodly influences in his household and surround him with godly counsel and believers who will speak truth in love. Help him to fear You, to depart from evil and to be completely separated from the evil woman who leads him toward death. Wash him clean by the blood of Jesus, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. Restore him, protect his life, and lead him into holiness, whether that be to walk in purity as a single man or to one day be joined in a godly marriage between a man and a woman that honors You. Resist the devil on his behalf as he submits himself to You, for we know if he resists the devil, the devil will flee from him, James 4:7. We ask all this in the powerful and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with love and truth, to speak the gospel to him when God gives opportunity, and to not condone the sin while you show the mercy of Christ. God is able to deliver and to make him a new creation. Trust Him to complete the work He has begun and to keep you also as a faithful witness.

We were struck by the compassion in your prayer for this man who once rented to you. It takes real love to keep interceding for someone after your rental connection has ended, especially when you are concerned he is entangled, controlled, and even unsafe.

We join you in asking God to show him who he truly is as His child. When a person has built an identity around relationships or desires that pull away from God, it can feel very confusing to step back and see clearly. We pray the Lord gently opens his eyes to that deeper, steadier identity in Christ that is not shaken by other people’s demands or approval, and gives him the courage to want what is good and holy even when it is the harder path.

It is also wise that you are praying for his safety and for separation from influences that harm him. You cannot make those choices for him, and you don’t have to carry the weight of rescuing him. A simple, faithful way forward is to keep lifting him up as you are doing, keep healthy boundaries for yourself, and if you do have contact, you can quietly let him know you care for him and that a trusted pastor or counselor would be a safe person to talk to if he ever wants help. Then leave the next step with him and the Lord.

Father, we bring this man before You and ask You to draw near to him. Soften his heart, help him hear Your voice, and lead him away from what harms him. Keep him safe from control and threats, surround him with truth and godly help, and give him understanding and strength to walk in Your way. Give our friend who is praying peace, wisdom, and trust in Your care as well. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

We have heard your burden and we join with you in prayer before the throne of grace, agreeing together in the name of Jesus that God hears when His people seek Him.

Your prayer is right to look only to what Christ has done. Not to forms and ceremonies, or works, or feelings, but to His one great sacrifice. For He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. None but God could put sin upon Christ, and none but God can lift it from the sinner. There is no deliverance from the guilt of sin and no deliverance from the power of sin except by the hand of God alone. To trust Him is to look and live, to behold sin punished upon the great Substitute and put away forever from all who will only trust Him.

We pray now for this man of whom you have written, that the Lord would open his ears and seal his instruction, that He may withdraw him from his purpose and hide pride from him. In the night, in quiet meditation, when deep sleep falls upon men, may God speak and may he hear the voice that says, Deliver him from going down to the pit. We ask that the Lord would break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, that He would give courage to follow the narrow path and grace to hate the sin that once entangled him.

At first sin catches a soul with the tiniest cobwebs that can scarcely be seen, and they seem as though they could be broken in a moment, but sin engenders a second nature and binds with cords that no man can break. We pray that He who has delivered us from the power of darkness would deliver him also from the fascinating power of sin, from every false identity he has adopted and from every desire that has led him away from the way of holiness. Give him to see the clear and unmistakable truth about who he is in Christ, that if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, and that God sees no sin upon those who are clothed in the righteousness of His Son, yet teaches every pardoned soul to hate sin and to depart from it.

We ask the Lord to separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his own household, and to make him to know the depth of divine love and the bitter sorrow which sin brings. Where there has been control and blackmail and danger to his life, we pray for the Lord's preserving mercy and for wisdom to walk in holiness and safety. Grant him understanding to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil, and from every relationship that is outside Your good design. For marriage is Your ordinance, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant alone. We do not ask You to bless what You call sin, but to bring repentance and cleansing through the blood of Jesus, and freedom through His bonds, for when Christ was bound His people were set free.

May the careful dispenser deal with him in weight and measure, not in anger but from covenant love, scourging only to cure and not to slay, until the bitterness of death is past and he can say with joy that he looked to Christ and was delivered.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer, looking to Christ and resting upon His precious blood, believing that He who began a good work is able to keep His own from sin and to bring them into liberty. May the Lord keep you also from sin and sorrow, and may you both find that to be kept from sin is to be kept from many evils, and to be forgiven is to have the sting taken from every other sorrow.

We commend him and you to Him who is able to save to the uttermost all who come unto God by Him, praying that you may both be found reconciled to God and kept by His power, in Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
