Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join you together in the name of Jesus and we thank you for bringing this man before the Lord with such burden and love. We agree with you that our Father hears us when we agree together, for Jesus said where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them Matthew 18:20 and that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven Matthew 18:19.

We hear your heart for this man who once rented his flat to you. You rightly call him a child of God in the sense that he is made in His image and that God loves him and desires his deliverance and salvation, and we pray with you that he will become a true child of God through repentance and faith and walk in his new identity in Christ. For if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. His true identity is not found in sinful relationships or activities or in the false identity he adopted when he strayed from the narrow path, but only in Christ who makes us new.

We must speak plainly about the sin you have described because God calls us to depart from evil and to find freedom only through repentance. The narrow path you mentioned is the way of life, for narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it Matthew 7:14. To follow his own desires into fornication or adultery or any sexual sin outside of biblical marriage between a man and a woman is to walk the broad way that leads to destruction. The Bible warns us to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and that the lips of an adulteress drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood Proverbs 5:3-4. If he is entangled with an evil woman who controls and blackmails him and may even put his life in danger, this is not love but bondage, and God wants to set him free, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36.

We also pray with you for his heart, that God will remove the heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh as He promised, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26. Only God can soften a hardened heart and give courage to choose holiness over sin, and to fear His holy name, for the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom Proverbs 9:10.

We join you in praying for his separation from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, for we know that evil companionships corrupt good morals 1 Corinthians 15:33 and blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked Psalm 1:1. We pray that the Lord will open his eyes to see the depth of God's love for him and the hatefulness and danger of the sinful relationships that hold him captive, and that he will submit himself to God, resist the devil, and the devil will flee from him James 4:7. The righteous cry and Yahweh hears and delivers them out of all their troubles Psalm 34:17, and we ask for that deliverance and protection over his life where there is control, blackmail and danger.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross and for Your holy Son Jesus who suffered for all who believe. We praise Your holy name. Lord, You know the plans You have for this man, plans for peace and not for evil, to give him hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11, and Your thoughts are far higher than ours. We bring him before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, open his eyes to the unmistakable truth of who he is in Christ, break his stony heart, soften it for Your glory and give him courage to turn from his sin and to walk the narrow path that leads to life. Give him understanding to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil and from the evil woman and every ungodly influence that binds him. Separate him from those who lead him astray, even in his own household, and place godly people around him who will speak truth. Deliver him from control, blackmail and every threat against his life, be his refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2, and lead him to repentance that he may be truly free and live a life that honors You, whether that be to live in purity as a single man or to pursue a godly marriage to a believing wife as You have ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman for life. Cleanse him by the blood of Jesus, restore him, and let him know how deep and steadfast Your love is for him. In the powerful name of Jesus we ask this, amen.

We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with steadfast love and truth, not affirming his sin but speaking the truth in love Ephesians 4:15, and to entrust him fully to the Lord who is able to deliver and to keep him. Keep praying that he will repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ with his whole heart, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and that he will choose life and holiness for the glory of God.

We join you in bringing this burden before the throne of grace, giving thanks with you for the cross where the holy Son of God suffered for sinners and made a way of deliverance.

Scripture teaches that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone can bring a soul forth from darkness, and He has found a ransom. In due time Christ died for the ungodly, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain and already accomplished for all who believe.

We therefore pray with you for this man according to that truth. Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation, that You would grant this man repentance and faith, that he would hear Your voice and be delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of Your dear Son. Break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh. Open his eyes to see his true need and his true identity as a sinner in need of mercy and as one who may become a new creature in Christ. Grant him godly sorrow for sin and understanding to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil.

We ask that You would separate him from ungodly influences and from every relationship and practice that is outside Your good design. Your word teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and living together belong within it. We do not ask You to bless what is contrary to that narrow path, but we ask You to lead him out of it into holiness, self control and peace. Where there is control, blackmail or danger, we ask for Your protection and for wisdom for all involved, and that You would make a way of escape that he may walk in uprightness.

We pray also for you who intercede, that you would continue in communion with God even in the cares of daily life, trusting that He hears the prayers of His people when they agree in Christ. The Lord chastens those whom He loves, and He brings forth His people with a mighty hand that all the glory may be His. May you be kept in faith and patience, and may this man, if the Lord is pleased to deliver him, live to declare the works of the Lord and show forth gratitude for great deliverance.

We commit him to Your free grace and sovereign power, knowing that what is impossible with men is possible with God. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Thank you for bringing this burden before the Lord and for joining together in prayer in the name of Jesus. We hear your heart for this man and we join our faith with yours, giving thanks for the cross where the holy Son of God suffered for all who believe, and for the love that still calls each of us to turn from our own desires and walk the narrow path.

We pray with you that God will open his eyes to see his true identity in Christ. The Scriptures teach that Christ came for two great purposes, deliverance from evil and the supply of good, to deliver us from the curse and to bring us into sonship, so that we might receive the Spirit of adoption and put on Christ. Pray that this man will know that he is not defined by the false identity he has taken on through sinful relationships and activities, but that in Christ he can become a son of God, free from passions and made new.

We ask the Lord to break the stony heart and to soften it for His glory, to give courage to depart from evil and to fear His holy name, and to grant understanding to see sin for what it is and to choose life. We pray that God will separate him from ungodly influences, even those in his household, and from any controlling, hateful or dangerous relationships, including the woman you mention, and that He will protect him where his life may be in danger and lead him away from what harms his soul.

We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and intimacy belongs within it, and salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We ask instead for true deliverance, that God would teach him to despise sin and to love what is good, and to find his hope not in human relationships or in nature, but in the kinship of the Spirit that makes us children of God through faith and obedience.

May the Lord also strengthen you to continue in love, diligence and protection for your neighbor's good, remembering that we are members of one another. Love seeks the highest good of the other, which is to know Christ and to walk in His truth. We pray that God will give you wisdom, patience and steadiness as you pray and as you show that love.

We commit this man fully to the mercy of Jesus, asking that he will hear the voice of the Lord, turn from the wide way, and follow Christ with a whole heart. In the powerful name of Jesus we pray, amen.
