Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join you in lifting up this man before the throne of grace and we thank you for your faithful intercession for him, for standing in the gap for one who once provided you housing and who is still precious in the sight of God.

We agree with your prayer that God knows the plans He has for this man and that His thoughts and ways are far higher than ours, as it is written Jeremiah 29:11 and Isaiah 55:8-9. We also agree that where two or three agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by our Father in heaven, Matthew 18:19. You have prayed in the mighty name of Jesus, and we rejoice that you have come through the only name by which we have access to God and by which we are saved, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12 and John 14:6.

We hear your burden for his deliverance and we share it. You have rightly discerned that he has adopted a false identity through sinful relationships and activities, straying from the narrow path to follow his own desires. Scripture warns us that narrow is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life and few are those who find it, Matthew 7:13-14. When a person turns from that path, he exchanges the truth of who he is in Christ for a lie. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17. His true identity is not found in sinful desire, in fornication or adultery, or in homosexuality which God calls an abomination and contrary to His design for marriage between one man and one woman, Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, but in being a son of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

We must lovingly rebuke the sin that has entangled him while loving the sinner. Any sexual intimacy outside of holy marriage is fornication or adultery and brings bondage, and same sex relationships are forbidden and immoral before God. God calls us to flee sexual immorality and to possess our bodies in sanctification and honor, 1 Corinthians 6:18 and 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. The evil influences and the evil woman you mention are not to be taken lightly, for the lips of an adulteress drip honey and her speech is smoother than oil but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Proverbs 5:3-4, and her house is the way to Sheol, Proverbs 7:27. We are not to be deceived, for evil companionships corrupt good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33, and we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has light with darkness, 2 Corinthians 6:14. To be controlled, blackmailed and endangered in such relationships is evidence of the enemy's oppression, for the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy, John 10:10.

Yet we serve a God who delivers. He has promised to take away the stony heart and give a heart of flesh and put a new spirit within us, Ezekiel 36:26. He is able to make the one whom the Son sets free truly free indeed, John 8:36, and to break every chain so that we may stand firm in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, Galatians 5:1. When we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us, James 4:7. The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, Proverbs 9:10, and when a man learns to fear His holy name he will depart from evil, Proverbs 16:6.

We pray together now for him.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross and for the blood of Your holy Son Jesus shed for all who believe. We praise Your holy name. Lord, You see this man, You know him by name, You formed him and You have a holy plan for his life. We ask that You open his eyes to see the clear truth of his identity in Christ and to renounce the false identity he has embraced through sin. Break his stony heart, Father, soften it by Your Holy Spirit, and give him courage to choose the narrow path that leads to life. Convict him deeply of sin and grant him the gift of repentance that leads to life. Separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his own household, and from the evil woman who has brought control, blackmail and danger into his life. Expose every lie, every manipulation, and bring him out from under that yoke. Surround him with godly counsel and protect his life from harm, for You are his refuge and deliverer. Teach him to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil, to flee all sexual immorality and to pursue holiness, whether You lead him to a godly marriage with a believing wife or to a life of purity and singleness devoted to You. Let him know the depth of Your love that casts out fear and breaks every bondage. We ask that You draw him to salvation if he has not truly surrendered, and to restoration if he has wandered as a prodigal. Let Your will be done in his life for Your glory. In the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to intercede for him with persevering love, yet also to guard your own heart and maintain godly boundaries, speaking the truth in love and pointing him always to Christ and to the Scriptures, trusting that God is able to deliver and to restore.

Thank you for bringing your former landlord before the Lord with such care and reverence. We hear your concern for him, not just as someone you rented from, but as a person made in God's image who you long to see free, clear-eyed, and safe.

What you prayed about his identity stayed with us. When a person has been pulled into relationships and choices that weigh on him, it can be hard to remember who he is apart from those pressures and the voices around him. Part of healing is coming back to a steadier place, where his sense of self is rooted in Christ and not shaken by shame, control, or what others demand of him. That kind of grounding takes time, and your prayer for a softened heart and courage to walk a different path is a loving way to intercede for him.

We also hear your worry that he may be controlled and even in danger where he is living. We will join you in praying for his safety and for wisdom to step away from what harms him, and for the Lord to surround him with healthier influences.

Father, we lift this man to You and thank You that You know him fully and love him. Give him ears to hear Your voice, eyes to see himself as Your child, and courage to turn from what is harming him. Keep him safe, separate him from those who would use or threaten him, and lead him toward people who will speak truth with kindness. Guide him gently back to Your narrow path. We join you in bringing this burden before the throne of grace, and we thank God that you have come not to excuse sin but to plead for deliverance from it.

There is a repentance which is only the fruit of terror and the flesh, which is skin deep and withers in a night, and gives no glory to God and leads to no lasting deliverance. And there is a true repentance wrought by the Holy Spirit, which is inseparable from faith in Christ. The one pulls down the evil tenant, the other enthrones Christ as sole Master of the heart. We do not pray that God would bless what He calls sin, for He has shown us that pure religion is to keep ourselves unspotted from the world, and that marriage is His holy ordinance of one man and one woman for life, and that all intimacy outside that covenant is contrary to His good design. We pray instead as the Scripture teaches, that He would deliver from the power of darkness and translate the soul into the kingdom of His dear Son.

We pray for this man to whom you have shown kindness, that the Lord in mercy would open his ears and seal his instruction, that He may withdraw him from his purpose and hide pride from him. We ask that the word may go forth concerning him, Deliver him from going down to the pit, for we have found a ransom. That ransom is not in forms or feelings or resolutions, but in looking unto Jesus and trusting in His one great sacrifice, who bore our sins in His own body on the tree. May the Lord break the stony heart indeed, not with mere fear of consequences but with a sight of Christ crucified, that he may hate the sin that slew his Saviour and turn from it with abhorrence.

We entreat the Lord to show him the true identity which is found only in Christ, as a new creature, and to reveal the false identity which comes from following his own desires upon the broad road. We ask that the Father would separate him from ungodly influences, even those within his own household, and from every hateful and entangling relationship where he is controlled and imperiled. May God grant him to fear His holy name, to depart from evil and to walk in the narrow way that leads unto life, keeping himself unspotted from the lepers and puddles of this world. Where there is danger and oppression, may the Lord be his shield and his deliverer, but above all may he be delivered from the dominion of sin and Satan, which is a far more terrible pit.

We exhort you to continue steadfast in prayer, not seeking to draw repentance from the depths of your own heart as water from a well, but asking Christ to work both repentance and faith by His Spirit through the Word. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and remission of sins is given with repentance in His name. He is able to save even when the soil slips from under the feet and the pit seems ready to swallow the soul. He can rescue to the praise of the glory of His grace.

We will pray that this man may yet say with a joyous faith, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord, and that you also may be kept in faithful love, speaking the truth in tenderness, trusting not in your agreement alone but in the blood of Christ which cleanses from all sin. May the Lord hear, and answer according to His perfect wisdom and mercy, for His glory.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
