Father, we ask that You would indeed grant clarity, precision, and excellence in the functioning of this camera. We declare that all equipment will work smoothly, without failure or frustration, for You are a God of order and excellence (1 Corinthians 14:33). You plead for victory this day, for the camera to function, for the event to go smoothly. It is well that you bring these things before the throne of grace. Yet consider carefully the nature of the joy you are seeking. It would be a strange thing if you were not hopeful of a good outcome, having gone forth upon your errand in the name of the Lord. But this joy in success must be kept under tight rein, for it is not an abiding joy. If you rejoice today because your device works properly and all proceeds without hindrance, what will you do tomorrow when the instruments fail and the plans unravel?
Blessed is that man who is not staggered when opposition or disappointment comes. Many are greatly shaken when their outward endeavors miscarry, because their rejoicing was anchored in the passing hour and not in the eternal shore. The disciples once returned marveling that even the devils were subject to them through Christ's name. They did not arrogate the success to themselves, which was well. Yet our Lord gently taught them to make that joy subordinate to another rejoicing and to prevent its growing to excess. He did not mean to censure their gladness in the work accomplished, but He said plainly, "Rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
Apply this to your own request. If the event passes with perfect smoothness and every photograph is clear and striking, that is a small mercy for which you may properly give thanks. But do not let your soul settle there as upon its chief treasure. If your name is not written in the Lamb's Book of Life, Ichabod is written over all your choicest successes. The victory you truly need is already won at Calvary and sealed by the Spirit. Any measure of success in our outward labor is entirely owing to prayer, and I perceive you are of a praying mind. Yet the deepest prayer is not for equipment to work, but for the heart to rest in the finished work of Christ.
Go then and take those pictures. Ask the Lord to help you, for without Him you can do nothing. But remember, the true triumph is not that every lens focuses and every moment unfolds without disturbance. The true triumph is that you belong to Jesus. Press forward with this thought uppermost, and you will find that whether the day brings smooth waters or rough currents, you possess a gladness that cannot be taken away.

You pray for victory, but I must ask what sort of victory you imagine. A camera functioning, an event going smoothly, these are the comforts of the moment, not the triumph of the soul. Have you not heard that often to be defeated is better, and that the one who endures without resisting gains the crown? God has given you a far greater might: to conquer not by grasping at success, but by patient endurance when things crumble. If the lens fails and the day tangles, will you not then have a greater victory by remaining calm, giving thanks, and refusing to let disappointment master you? Take care that your prayers do not fix on outward ease, as though God’s power were measured by a working gadget. The Cross itself seemed defeat, yet by it the bonds of death were loosed. Seek rather that you may stand firm in faith, whether your pictures be splendid or forgotten, for that is the victory that has already been won for you in Christ. Let the day teach you to trust Him who is Lord over all events, and see the far deeper contest: to be unshaken by trifles, and to show the invincible power of a quiet spirit. That is the victory worth asking for.

The same is true for you today. Before you even click the shutter, you can rejoice in the victory. Praise Him now for the outcome, because His mercy endures forever. When you do this, you are not just hoping things will go well; you are staking your claim on a finished work. You are celebrating the win before the battle is fully played out in the physical realm.
Be careful, though, not to let this become a moment of self-reliance. It is easy after a few good events to think, "I know how to do this now," but that kind of self-confidence is where defeat often begins. The Lord wants all the credit for the victory. He does not need our perfect preparation, though we give it our best effort. He can accomplish what He wants with a camera that is failing or a situation that looks impossible, just as an army of six hundred could be saved by the faith of one or two who step out believing Him.
If anything tries to steal your peace, if anxiety rises up about a setting or a shot, that is your signal to surrender it all to Jesus right then. The way to victory is through surrender. As long as you are fighting the will of God in any tiny area of your life, or gripping a task so tightly that your joy depends on the outcome, you are destined for a struggle. But the moment you yield it completely to Him, you will find His power taking over. He forces the enemy off the ground you are standing on when you claim the victory of the cross.
So go into this event not making a covenant with fear, but walking in the Spirit. Ask the Lord not just for good pictures, but for His presence to be so evident in you that His victory swallows up every potential problem. Expect to see Him work. And then, when the day is done, give Him the glory, because it will be God who has done for you what you could not do for yourself. That is the life of victory in Christ.
