Please can you pray for my daughter who moves into her uni house today. She’s already feeling a little left out and getting mean comments. We join you in lifting up your daughter as she moves into her university house today and we thank you for asking us to pray in the name of Jesus, for it is through His name we have access to the Father.

We understand your concern as a parent when your daughter is already feeling left out and receiving mean comments. It is painful to see our children face unkindness, especially in a new living situation where they long for belonging and peace. We pray that the Lord will guard her heart from discouragement and surround her with His presence and comfort.

Scripture reminds us how God desires us to live together. Psalm 133:1 says See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity. And Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. We are also warned about the harm of jealousy and rivalry, as Philippians 2:3 says doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself, and James 3:16 says For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. Romans 12:18 also encourages us If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones, Proverbs 16:24.

Father, we bring this dear daughter before You in the name of Jesus. We ask that You cover her with Your peace that passes all understanding and let her know she is never left out of Your love and care. Comfort her heart when unkind words sting and give her strength to respond with grace and kindness. We pray for each young woman in that house, that You would soften hearts, remove any spirit of jealousy, comparison, or rivalry, and replace it with genuine kindness, respect, and tender affection for one another. Help them to build a home marked by unity, happiness, patience, and being good to one another. Let their words to each other be pleasant and healing. Guard them from division and help them to prefer one another in honor, Romans 12:10. Give your daughter wisdom to set healthy boundaries with gentleness, courage to be a light for You, and joy in her studies and new season. May this house be a place of peace and encouragement where each one feels valued. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We encourage your daughter to keep looking to the Lord for her sense of belonging and worth, knowing she is fully loved by Him, and to continue showing kindness even when it is not returned, trusting God to work in the hearts of her housemates. Encourage her to communicate openly and gently, to not repay unkindness with unkindness, and to seek fellowship with other believers at university who can support her. We will continue to pray that the Lord brings harmony, true friendship, and happiness to that household and that any jealousy is overcome by love.

We are holding you and your daughter in our thoughts today as she moves into her uni house. It is such a big transition, and it hurts to hear she is already feeling left out and facing unkind comments when you hoped this would be a happy start.

Living closely with new housemates can bring out comparison and friction quickly, especially when everyone is nervous and trying to find their place. Feeling on the outside in those first days does not mean it will always be that way, but it does make those early days lonely.

One gentle way to support her this week might be to keep a light, steady check in each evening, letting her share what was hard and what went okay, and helping her think through a calm response if a comment stings. It can also help her to look for one steady connection outside the house, a course friend, a campus Christian group, or a trusted staff member, so the house is not her only social world.

Father, we bring this daughter to You and ask for Your nearness to her today. Guard her heart from discouragement, give her wisdom and kindness in her words, and help the whole house learn to live together with respect and care. Comfort her mum too with peace as she entrusts her daughter to Your hands. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer for your daughter in this new season has been heard and we join you in bringing her before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, our only Savior and Mediator.

To leave home and enter a house of strangers at university is a tender trial, and to feel left out and to hear mean comments wounds a young heart deeply. The Lord sees her there and He knows the sting of unkind words. We are reminded that jealousy is cruel as the grave, and where it is allowed to enter it guards and divides and embitters. Yet there is a unity of the Spirit which is worthy to be kept, not a mere outward agreement but a true kindness and peace which comes from living near to Christ. Divisions seldom begin where love to the Savior abounds, and when hearts are humbled before Him they learn to be good to one another.

We have prayed, and we continue to pray, that the Lord will guard your daughter and all who share that house from jealousy and from cruel words, that He will soften hearts, restrain unkindness, and teach them to speak with grace and to act with gentleness. May He give your daughter comfort in knowing she is not forgotten, courage to answer unkindness with patience, and wisdom to seek the company of those who will encourage her in what is good. May He grant them all a spirit of forbearance and goodwill, that they may dwell together in peace and show kindness one to another, and may any discord be chased out by love which seeks the good of others.

We ask the Father to make this house a place of quietness and happiness, to keep your daughter in His care day by day, to draw her nearer to Christ where true unity and true happiness are found, and to let her find her portion and her confidence in Him. It is painful when a new home begins with feeling left out and hearing mean comments, and it is right to bring this to the Lord. Scripture warns us that jealousy and envy trouble the soul and break harmony among those who live together, while a humble and lowly heart is delivered from these passions and seeks peace. True harmony is not only in words but in the mind and in love, when each person looks to the good of the others.

We pray for your daughter and for all who share that house, that God in His loving kindness would guard their hearts from jealousy and envy, and give them grace to be kind, gentle and good to one another. May He comfort your daughter when she feels left out, give her strength to answer unkindness with kindness, and help her to show modesty, sobriety and love in her daily life. May He soften the hearts of her housemates as well, so that they may live together in peace, bear with one another, and build a home marked by friendship and respect.
