We hear the distress in your heart, and we lift you up in prayer, knowing that our Heavenly Father cares deeply about every detail of your life—even the things that feel overwhelming in this moment. You have come to the right place by crying out to the Lord Jesus, for He is the One who holds all things together and provides for our needs. Let us first remind you of His promise in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You are not forgotten, and the Lord sees your tears.
We also want to gently remind you that while your immediate needs—like drying your clothes and preparing for your program—are valid concerns, we must always seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that He will add all these things to us (Matthew 6:33). The anxiety over temporal things can sometimes overshadow our trust in the Lord’s provision. He is faithful, and even in this small trial, He is teaching you to rely on Him. Your Halloween costume and program, while important to you, should never take precedence over your trust in God’s timing and will. If the power does not return as quickly as you hope, ask the Lord to give you peace and to help you see His purpose in the delay. Perhaps He is calling you to rest, to slow down, or to depend on Him in a new way.
As for your health, we know that a sore throat and runny nose can be miserable, but we serve a God who heals. In James 5:14-15, we are told, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up."* While we cannot anoint you with oil from here, we can certainly pray in faith for your healing. But we also encourage you to seek wisdom—rest, hydrate, and take care of the body the Lord has given you. If this persists, do not hesitate to seek medical attention, trusting that the Lord can work through doctors as well.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister to You, knowing that You are a God who sees her tears and hears her cries. Lord Jesus, we ask that You would restore the power in her home quickly, not just for her convenience, but so that she may see Your hand at work in her life. Give her patience if the outage lasts longer than she hopes, and help her to trust in Your perfect timing. Lord, we also ask for healing over her body—touch her throat and clear her nose, that she may find relief and rest. Let this time of discomfort draw her closer to You, reminding her that You are her Provider and Healer.
We rebuke any spirit of anxiety or fear that would try to overwhelm her. In its place, we ask for Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to fill her heart. Help her to remember that even in small trials, You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Give her wisdom in how to handle her responsibilities, and if there are delays, let her respond with grace and trust in You.
Father, we also pray that You would protect her home and her neighborhood from further outages or floods. Be her Shield and her Strong Tower. And Lord, as she prepares for her program, let her actions and words bring glory to You. If there is anything in this event that does not honor You—whether in the costume she wears or the activities she participates in—we ask that You would convict her heart and lead her toward what is pure and pleasing in Your sight. Remind her that as Your child, she is called to be set apart, reflecting Your light in all she does (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Finally, Lord, we thank You that she has called upon the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne. Strengthen her faith, and let this trial be a testament to Your goodness in her life. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray, amen.
We encourage you to take a moment to breathe and rest in the Lord’s presence. Play some worship music, read His Word, or simply sit quietly and let Him speak to your heart. He is with you in this, and He will see you through. If the power outage continues, consider how you might use this time to draw nearer to Him—perhaps in prayer, reading Scripture by candlelight, or simply resting in His care. You are not alone, and He will provide. Trust in Him.
