Your cry has been heard and brought before the Lord, and we join you in asking that sorrow may give way to joy. The Scripture says, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning, and that word is true for all who trust in Christ. What you feel now is real sorrow, yet for the child of God it is but a quasi sorrow, for the joy that follows is real and abiding. As a woman in travail has great sorrow, but her sorrow is turned into joy when her child is born, so every sorrow of a believer is as the birth pang of a coming joy. It is not merely exchanged for joy, but transmuted by the hand of God so that the very cause of grief becomes the source of rejoicing.
We pray for you and for your household, for your family and their spouses, and for the little creature entrusted to your care which has been crying and has wakened you with its distress. The Lord hears the voice of weeping, and He cares for all His creatures, and we ask Him to give comfort and calm to your grandbaby dog this day, to quiet its crying and to grant it health and peace. We ask also for you, that the Lord would lift the heaviness from your heart and give you smiles and a good day, not by our speaking life into existence as though our words had power in themselves, but by His sovereign mercy and grace.
May the Lord grant you joy and peace in believing, for joy and peace come not by first seeking the feeling, but by faith looking to Christ. Faith sees a gain in every loss and a joy in every grief, and we that have believed do enter into rest. If sorrow has come as a trial, may He make it the way to greater blessing. If it lingers, remember that you now have sorrow, but now cannot mean forever. The joy which Christ gives is heart deep bliss, a hearty and abiding joy which no man takes from you, for it is His legacy, His peace given not as the world gives.
We pray that you would look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name by which we are saved, and that you would find your comfort under the blood of Jesus shed upon the cross. There alone is safety, and there alone is true and lasting comfort. May the Almighty who is strong to try be also strong to comfort, strong to sweeten what He has embittered, and may He turn your sorrow into joy today according to His perfect will.
We ask the Lord to keep you and your family and your pets in His kind providence, to give you rest this night and gladness in the morning, and to fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope we pray, Amen.
