It is right to desire that all things be done honestly and in order, for to love God's law is to cease from that which is crooked and to find great peace in doing what is upright before Him and before men.
You may take comfort in this, that while we all make mistakes, the Lord makes none. We imagine God to be as fallible as ourselves, but He is perfect in wisdom and in care. What is tangled to us is plain to Him, and He is able to make a way where we see confusion. Therefore cast this burden upon Him and seek also to act with plain honesty in the matter, correcting what is amiss and rendering what is due, trusting Providence rather than any device of concealment.
We have asked the God of hope to fill you with all joy and peace in believing, according to His promise, You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. The peace which Christ leaves to His people is not a mere quietness of circumstance, but peace with God through His blood, and peace of conscience flowing from that reconciliation. There is no peace worthy of the name that is to be found in any other way. If you have not yet found it, look to Jesus Christ alone, who has reconciled us to Himself and who alone can say, My peace I give unto you.
