Your prayer expresses a right and biblical longing, and it is good to bring it before the Lord. The Scriptures you mentioned give the true answer to the fear and chaos you described. Psalm 2 says the Lord in heaven laughs at the plotting of nations and rulers who take counsel together against Him, for He has already installed His King. Psalm 146 warns us not to put our trust in princes or in human power, which cannot save, but to hope in God who keeps faith forever and reigns forever. Psalm 46 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength even when the earth gives way and kingdoms are in turmoil, and that He will be exalted among the nations.

History in Scripture shows why any system built without God cannot bring peace. When a king was yielded to God and sought the Lord, as David did, the kingdom was blessed. When a king did evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord, as happened with Rehoboam, the kingdom quickly deteriorated and was divided. Generation after generation in the northern kingdom, kings did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the same sins as those before them, and the nation sank further. Human kingdoms, even when they start with great promise, go down rapidly when they turn from God. Totalitarian and dehumanizing systems are only the latest form of that same pattern.

The only lasting hope is for Jesus Christ to come and establish God's kingdom. At present the enemy has been allowed a measure of authority in this world, but he knows his time is short and he is doing his best to bring confusion and destruction before his reign ends. After this time of great distress, Jesus will come and His kingdom will cover the whole earth. He will rule and reign in righteousness. Then there will be true fairness, peace, and a sharing of the resources of the earth. The kingdoms of men last for a time, but the kingdom and dominion under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.

That is why the prayer Jesus taught us is so fitting, and we join you in it now. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Those prayers will be answered. God will bring His kingdom to this earth and His King will reign. While we wait for that glorious day, He also establishes His reign now in hearts that seek Him. In the midst of an evil and corrupt generation, He keeps pure the heart that seeks Him and gives a sense of His nearness, presence, and love.

We will continue to pray with you, that God would restrain every anti Christian and dehumanizing plan, that He would frustrate what is evil, that He would strengthen His people, and that His will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray that He would draw many to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for only those who belong to Him will be heirs of that everlasting kingdom.

May the Lord strengthen you as you walk through these dark days, keep your heart steadfast as you seek Him, and fill you with hope in the coming righteous reign of Jesus.
