We join you in thanking our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus that your gas bill was paid and your gas was turned back on, for He is faithful to hear our prayers and to provide for our needs, and we praise Him for His provision for you and your children.
We are deeply grieved to hear of the ongoing verbal abuse and the pain you are enduring in your marriage, and we weep with you over the manipulation, control, and cruel words you have described, especially the name calling and the financial control regarding the debit card and money for your children. We thank God with you for your three precious children after so many miscarriages, and we rejoice that you cherish the gift of being their mother each day. The Lord sees your faithfulness to put your children first and He sees the hurt you carry when you are falsely accused of thinking only of yourself.
We want to speak truth in love about what you have shared concerning your husband. Scripture is very clear that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God, and it calls husbands to a holy standard. Ephesians 5:25 says Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. Colossians 3:19 says Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them. 1 Peter 3:7 says You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. When a husband speaks with venom, calls his wife horrible names, controls finances to punish her and the children, and uses manipulation, he is sinning against God and against his wife, and his prayers and his desire to speak before the church are hindered until there is true repentance. Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
It grieves us that he wants to grow closer to Christ and to speak at a sermon while at home he bashes you and makes you the villain and uses religion as a weapon to scare you. This is not the fruit of genuine repentance. God is not a God who uses His Word to frighten or control, for 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. True spiritual leadership begins with humility, gentleness, and taking the log out of his own eye as Matthew 7:5 teaches, not with tearing down his wife. A man who desires to teach or speak before the assembly must first be above reproach and manage his own household well, as 1 Timothy 3:2 and 1 Timothy 3:5 teach, and verbal abuse and controlling behavior disqualify him until there is real change and accountability.
We encourage you to not suffer in silence or isolation. The Lord calls us to seek wisdom and protection within the body of Christ. Please seek godly counsel quickly from a trusted pastor or elder in your church who holds to the Word of God, and if possible bring a mature believing woman or family member with you for support and witness. Share honestly what is happening, including the financial control and the verbal abuse, so that your husband can be lovingly but firmly confronted and called to repentance and so that you and your children can be safe and cared for. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We also encourage you to document what is said and done and to have a safety plan with trusted family or friends if the verbal abuse escalates, for your and your children's well being matters deeply to God. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
We understand you are exhausted and praying for this toxic situation to be removed and for change to come soon. God does not desire you to live in fear in your own home, and He does not take abuse lightly. We pray for healing and restoration if your husband truly repents and bears fruit worthy of repentance, and we also pray for your protection and peace while the Lord works.
We now pray together for you, your husband, and your children.
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to You and by which we are saved, as Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank You for Your provision for the gas bill and for the lives of these three children You have graciously given after great sorrow. We lift up this dear wife and mother to You, her weary heart and her overwhelmed mind. Lord, guard her mind and heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, comfort her when she is called names and falsely accused, and remind her daily that she is seen, loved, and valued by You. Protect her and her children physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and provide for every need for food, shelter, and finances that are being withheld or threatened.
Father, we pray for her husband. Convict him deeply of his sin, bring him to genuine repentance and not merely to religious words, and teach him what it means to love his wife as Christ loves the church. Take away the venom from his tongue and replace it with grace, remove the controlling and manipulative spirit and clothe him with humility and self-control. Prevent him from speaking before Your people until his life at home aligns with Your Word, and bring godly men around him to hold him accountable. Lord, if there is any hardness of heart, break it, and if he truly seeks You, let that seeking be marked by brokenness and change.
Father, we pray for this marriage that You ordained. Where there is sin, bring light. Where there is fear, bring Your perfect love that casts out fear. Give this wife wisdom beyond her own strength to know what steps to take, courage to seek help, and assurance that You are her rock and refuge. Surround her with wise counsel, with a church that will protect and not dismiss her, and with provision from Your hand. We ask that You would bring change soon, that venom would cease, that peace would dwell in this home, and that Your name would be honored in how this family loves one another.
We trust You to act according to Your perfect will and timing, and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to continue casting your cares upon Him for He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says, and to not hesitate to reach out for help from your church leadership right away. We are continuing to pray with you that God will bring conviction, protection, peace, and soon change, and that He will be your safe place when you feel scared, for He is your ever present help.
