We lift your family up before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the pain and fear that comes with watching a loved one struggle. Your husband’s battle with mental health, alcohol, and prescription medication is not one he must fight alone—God is near to the brokenhearted, and He hears your cries. The Word tells us in Psalm 34:18, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* We stand in agreement with you, believing that the same God who parted the Red Sea can part the darkness in his mind and heart.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Great Physician, asking for Your healing touch to rest upon this husband and father. You see the bondage that holds him—whether it be the weight of depression, the grip of addiction, or the lies of the enemy telling him he is beyond hope. But we declare that no chain is stronger than Your power! We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and command it to loose its hold. We pray for clarity of mind, for the strength to resist temptation, and for a hunger for sobriety that only You can ignite. Lord, restore the man of God he once was—or perhaps the man he was always meant to be. Soften his heart to receive help, whether through counsel, medical support, or the loving accountability of brothers in Christ.
We also lift up this precious wife and family, who are carrying the weight of this struggle. The enemy would love to use this trial to sow division, fear, or resentment, but we declare that this family will not be destroyed. Instead, we pray for unity, patience, and unwavering love rooted in Christ. Remind them daily that their hope is not in circumstances but in You, the God who works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Give them wisdom to know how to support one another without enabling sin, and grant them the courage to set boundaries that honor You.
Lord, we ask that You would surround this family with a community of believers who can walk alongside them—men who can speak truth and encouragement into this husband’s life, women who can uplift and pray for this wife, and friends who will intercede faithfully. Break the isolation that addiction thrives in, and let Your light shine into every dark corner.
We also want to gently remind this family that true healing and freedom are found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If there is any uncertainty about salvation, we urge you to turn to Him fully. The Bible says in John 3:16, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."* And in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If your husband—or any member of this family—has not surrendered their life to Christ, now is the time. Salvation is the foundation for every other victory.
Father, we thank You that You are a God who redeems. You take what the enemy means for harm and turn it into a testimony of Your grace. We believe that this family’s story is not over, and we declare breakthrough, restoration, and revival in Jesus’ name. Strengthen their faith when the wait feels long, and let them see Your hand at work even in the small things. We trust You to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
In the name of Jesus, the name above every name, we pray for deliverance, healing, and a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit over this family. May they rise from this trial stronger, more dependent on You, and ready to be a light to others walking through the same darkness. Amen.
