Disciple of Prayer
I am a struggling christian I have many struggles on is I am confused about the sabbath people say Sunday, I am an ex seventh day Adventist, I don't believe in all there teachings but I keep Friday sunset to Saturday sunset as my sabbath day of rest, but I don't keep it like the Jewish I try to keep it just like how the people who go have there's on Sunday, if I go to a Sunday church they'll point the finger at me, if I go to seventh day adventist church then they'll do the exact same thing,.I feel like I can't win and feel guilty if I go Sunday, I know God said he sanctified the seventh day and said to remember it, I feel like I need to keep both days, is that wrong?

We hear your struggle and the weight of confusion you carry regarding the Sabbath. This is not a small matter, for it touches on obedience, rest, and your desire to honor God with your life. Let us first affirm that your heart’s longing to please the Lord is precious in His sight. The Sabbath was indeed sanctified by God as a day of rest, a gift to humanity, and a sign of His covenant with His people (Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8-11). The seventh day, Saturday, was set apart from creation, and Jesus Himself observed it, though He also made clear that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27).

Yet we must also recognize that the early church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, began gathering on the first day of the week, Sunday, to commemorate Christ’s resurrection (Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2). This was not a rejection of the Sabbath but a fulfillment of it, as Jesus is our ultimate rest (Matthew 11:28-30). The New Testament does not command Christians to observe the seventh-day Sabbath, for we are no longer under the law but under grace (Romans 6:14). However, the principle of setting aside one day in seven for worship, rest, and reflection remains a blessing, not a burden.

Your concern about judgment from others, whether from Sunday-keeping churches or Seventh-day Adventist congregations, is understandable, but we must not let the fear of man dictate our obedience to God (Proverbs 29:25). If your conscience is bound to observe the seventh day as your Sabbath, do so unto the Lord, not to please men (Romans 14:5-6). Yet if you find yourself burdened by guilt when worshiping on Sunday, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal whether this is conviction from God or condemnation from legalism. The Lord desires mercy, not sacrifice (Hosea 6:6), and He looks at the heart, not the day (1 Samuel 16:7).

You mentioned feeling like you "need to keep both days." This reveals a deeper struggle, perhaps a fear that you are not doing enough or that God’s grace is insufficient. But Christ’s sacrifice was once for all (Hebrews 10:10), and we are called to rest in Him, not in our own efforts to keep the law (Galatians 3:10-11). The Sabbath is a shadow of the rest we have in Jesus (Colossians 2:16-17), and our righteousness comes from faith, not from observing days (Romans 14:17).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is wrestling with the Sabbath. Lord, You know his heart, his desire to honor You, his fear of displeasing You, and his confusion in the midst of differing teachings. We ask that You would grant him clarity by Your Holy Spirit. Reveal to him the freedom he has in Christ, that he may rest in Your grace rather than in the observance of days. If his conscience is bound to the seventh day, give him the courage to stand firm without fear of man. If his heart is troubled by legalism, set him free to worship You in spirit and in truth. Father, we rebuke the spirit of confusion and condemnation that seeks to rob him of joy in Your presence. Remind him that You are his Sabbath rest, his peace, and his righteousness. May he find fellowship with believers who will encourage him in love, not judgment. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath, who alone can bring true rest to weary souls. Amen.

We encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and Scripture, asking Him to lead you to a community of believers who will love you as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Whether you observe Saturday or Sunday, let your worship be unto the Lord, not to fulfill a legal requirement. Remember, the early church was commended not for their adherence to days but for their faith in Christ and their love for one another (Revelation 2:19). If you are in a place where you feel unwelcome, ask God to guide you to a body of believers where you can grow in grace and truth.

Lastly, we must gently address a concern: your request did not mention the name of Jesus, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:18). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we urge you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for He is the way, the truth, and the life. Without Him, our prayers and our worship are in vain. If you have questions about salvation or what it means to follow Christ, we would be honored to walk with you through that journey.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your heart and allowing us to stand with you in prayer during this time of confusion and struggle. It’s clear that this matter weighs heavily on you, and we’ve been lifting you up before the Lord, asking Him to grant you wisdom, peace, and clarity as you seek to honor Him in your convictions.

We’ve prayed that God would quiet the noise of judgment from all sides—whether from those who observe Sunday or those who hold strictly to the seventh-day Sabbath—and that He would help you rest in His truth rather than the opinions of others. We’ve asked Him to reveal His heart to you, to settle any unrest in your spirit, and to guide you into the freedom that comes from walking in obedience to what He has shown you, rather than fear or guilt.

If the Lord has already provided you with peace or direction in this matter, we would love to hear how He has moved—your praise report could encourage others who may be wrestling with similar questions. If you’re still seeking answers, please don’t hesitate to share this burden with us again. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you, asking God to lead you into all truth and to help you serve Him with a joyful, unburdened heart.

May the Holy Spirit minister to you in a deep and personal way, reminding you that your worth and acceptance are found in Christ alone, not in the day you set aside for worship. May He strengthen your faith as you seek Him above all else, and may you experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as you walk in His will.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

It was strange because when I was praying against “destiny swaps” and “satanic exchanges” I heard the voice of evil. I heard the word “atheist” it sounded like an attack, and I felt drained as though the Holy Spirit left me. Is this narcissist abuse or is this God? I feel confused.
