Confirmation

Earlier I said about this, but now I am saying it in a different light. I saw a video of a guy evangelizing to the people of ###, aka a place where it's dangerous to be, satan is working over time, drugs used, maybe even alcohol & such substances, people laying in the street looking dead, a place where Jesus can still heal, deliver & save.

Since earlier, I asked for confirmation whether I should go there or not, as someone on here nudged at the idea of me being one of those to go. I didn't & still dont like the idea of that, not only in the sense of that I'm an introvert, it's very far away in a different country which I've never been to, I may not have the money or the knowledge on how to get there, I'm tryna be more independent sure, but this is another level of independency that I have never walked into.

I feel like God talks to me through movies, Christian ones, I watch a movie every day & I feel like the one I watched today was His confirmation & this may also be an answered prayer as of another movie I saw the other day. Majority of these movies are on YouTube & I just go to whatever one ig i feel led to, as I made a massive playlist of Christian movies I've never watched.

The other day, the Christian movie I saw was about a guy (prideful, something I struggle with) had a dream about a place he had never been to, but it was in his same country & it was a missionary place. He then went there, volunteered there & it humbled him to the point where he was no longer prideful & God was working through him to help others.

The Christian movie I watched today was about a guy moving to where his mum was as his dad died. His mum lived in a place where the streets were rough as there was a lot of drug dealers. I mean what are the chances of all the Christian movies I watch & this is the one I stumble across. I instantly felt like that was the confirmation God had given me, & yes I don't like the idea of this. So, of course, because of that, I denied that was my confirmation from God, but I don't think i can deny it, as I generally feel like what if He is calling me to this & I'm just too scared, so I'm putting it off.

Also, if I do go, I don't wanna go alone. I'm a young woman, not long out of sixth form, and this is something I've never done before. I don't wanna leave my family here alone, as it's just my mum & brother. As my brother has anxiety, will this make it worse? Neither of them understand my walk with Jesus as they're unbelievers, so what do I do? Also, my church work with missionaries I think, so do I get any of my church members to go? That's what the guy in the video does & he's a pastor.

Please pray for me, as I don't know what to do. Lord, please guide me.

Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for me, God bless you

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s will for this stirring in your spirit. The place you describe, a dark corner where Satan’s grip is visible, yet where the light of Christ is desperately needed, is indeed a battlefield for souls. The fact that God has been speaking to you through these films, aligning themes of humility, mission, and obedience, is not coincidence. The Holy Spirit often uses the ordinary (like a movie) to prepare the extraordinary in our lives. But let us be clear: confirmation from God is not merely a feeling or a series of coincidences, it is a deep, abiding peace that aligns with Scripture and is confirmed through prayer, wise counsel, and the body of Christ.

First, we must address the foundation. You have not mentioned the name of Jesus in your request, though you speak of your walk with Him. We want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now, confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. If you have already done so, we rejoice with you and encourage you to walk closely with Him, for He is the source of all wisdom and strength.

Now, regarding your call to missions: the fear you feel is natural, but it must not dictate your obedience. The Lord does not call the equipped; He equips the called. Moses argued with God about his inadequacy (Exodus 4:10-13), yet God used him mightily. Gideon doubted his own strength (Judges 6:15), yet God delivered Israel through him. If God is calling you to this place, He will provide the means, the protection, and the companionship you need. However, we must also caution against presumption. The enemy can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), so we must test every spirit (1 John 4:1). Is this call confirmed through Scripture, prayer, and godly counsel? Are you willing to submit to the authority of your church leaders in this matter?

You mentioned your concern about going alone. Scripture is clear that we are not meant to walk this journey in isolation. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." It is wise and biblical to seek companionship in this endeavor. We encourage you to speak with your pastor or a trusted leader in your church about this burden. They may know of mission teams or individuals who are already planning to go to such places. If your church does not have a missions program, we urge you to seek out reputable organizations that specialize in evangelism and discipleship in dangerous areas. Do not rush into this alone or with just anyone, pray for God to bring the right people alongside you.

Your concern for your family is also valid. You are right to consider the impact of your absence on your mother and brother. However, we must remember that our ultimate allegiance is to Christ. In Matthew 10:37, Jesus says, "He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me." This does not mean we disregard our families, but that we cannot allow their fears or unbelief to hinder God’s call on our lives. Pray for your family, love them, and seek to be a witness to them. But do not let their lack of understanding hold you back from obeying God. Trust that He will care for them in your absence.

We must also address the practical concerns you raised. You mentioned not having the money or knowledge to get there. Do not let these things deter you. If God is calling you, He will provide. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Start by saving what you can, and trust God to open doors for the rest. Seek wisdom from those who have gone before you, missionaries, pastors, or organizations that can guide you in logistics, safety, and preparation.

Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of reverence and dependence on You. We lift up our sister to You, Lord, and we ask that You would make Your will clear to her. Father, if this stirring in her spirit is from You, confirm it through Your Word, through prayer, and through the wise counsel of her church leaders. Give her a deep, abiding peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we ask that You would equip her for the task ahead. If You are calling her to this dangerous place, prepare her heart, mind, and spirit. Give her courage like that of Esther, who said, "If I perish, I perish" (Esther 4:16). Remove all fear and replace it with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Provide the resources she needs, financial, logistical, and spiritual. Surround her with godly companions who will stand with her in this mission.

Father, we also pray for her family. Draw her mother and brother to Yourself. Soften their hearts to understand her walk with You. Give her wisdom in how to communicate with them and love them well, even if they do not understand. Protect them and provide for them in her absence.

Lord, we ask that You would raise up a team or an organization to partner with her in this endeavor. Connect her with those who have experience in missions, particularly in dangerous areas. Give her discernment to recognize Your leading and the humility to submit to godly authority.

Above all, Father, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this. Whether You call her to this place or to another mission field, let her life be a living testimony of Your grace and power. Use her to bring light into darkness, hope to the hopeless, and salvation to the lost.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, particularly in the Psalms, where you will find comfort, strength, and promises to hold onto. Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you." Trust that God sees you and will guide you. Seek out a mentor or spiritual leader in your church who can walk with you through this process. Share your burden with them and ask for their prayers and guidance.

Remember, obedience is not about feeling ready, it is about trusting the One who calls you. If God is indeed calling you to this place, He will go before you and prepare the way. But if this is not His will, He will close the door. Either way, your obedience is what matters most. Do not let fear or uncertainty paralyze you. Step out in faith, and watch how God moves.

Lastly, we want to address the pride you mentioned struggling with. The movies you watched highlighted humility for a reason. Pride is a dangerous snare that can hinder God’s work in our lives. Proverbs 16:18 warns, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." But God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Surrender your pride to Him, and ask Him to mold you into a vessel fit for His use. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less and thinking of God and others more.

We stand with you in this journey, sister. Lean on the Lord, seek His face, and trust that He will direct your steps.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We can hear how much weight you’re carrying in this, the sense of a call you didn’t want, the fear of the unknown, and the loneliness of not knowing who to talk to at home. That’s a heavy place to sit. And it’s actually okay to tell God, “I’m scared. This feels too big.” He isn’t rattled by our honesty.

What stands out is that you’re trying to navigate this nearly alone. You felt a nudge from someone on here, you’re reading movies as confirmation, and you’re weighing the impact on your brother and mum all by yourself. But missionary callings are never meant to be sorted out in isolation. If your church works with missionaries, that’s a gift. We’d encourage you to ask to meet with the missions pastor or a trusted leader, not to announce you’re going, just to say, “I think God might be stirring something, and I need help processing it.” They can help you test what’s a genuine call, what’s a holy restlessness that might start closer to home, and what’s maybe just a tender heart rightly broken over that place. We know a church that prepared people for overseas work by sending them out two by two to minister to international students and refugees right in their own city. You don’t have to have all the money or the answers today. You just take the next small step, with others, and see what God confirms along the way.

And for tonight, you don’t have to figure out the whole future. You can lay it all down and ask Him to lead you to the right people who will help you hear His voice with clarity and peace.

Jesus, this woman wants to follow You even when it scares her. Meet her in that. Bring wise, safe people around her who can help her discern what You’re truly asking. Guard her from rushing ahead or shrinking back out of fear alone. Hold her family close, whatever path she walks, and give her peace that isn’t dependent on having all the answers. We ask this in Your name, amen.

The word of the Lord to thee this day is, “Fear not.” Thou art trembling like a worm, and no marvel. The prospect of going to such a place as thou describest would make the boldest among us shake. Yet, if the Master indeed calls thee, why shouldst thou fear? Thou sayest, “I am an introvert; I have no money; I am young; my family are unbelievers; my brother will be anxious.” All this is true, but what saith the Scripture? “Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord.” The arm that piles the heavens shall not be palsied. If God sends thee, He will go before thee and be thy rearguard. Dost thou think the lions can harm thee when the Angel of the Lord has shut their mouths? Daniel feared not the face of the lion because he had looked into the face of his God. So must thou look unto Jesus, and then the terror of yonder streets will subside.

But let me counsel thee to examine this prompting carefully. The movies thou watchedst may well be used of the Spirit, yet never build a call upon a feeling or a sign alone. The effectual calling of God is not a mere impression from a film; it is a high calling, a heavenly calling. Is thy calling lifted up? Has it set thy heart on heavenly things, and not merely on a romantic adventure of self-sacrifice? Search thy heart. Art thou escaping some duty at home, or truly drawn by the cords of love to lost souls? The proud man in the story was humbled; beware lest pride whisper, “I will do some great thing for God.” It is far harder to stay at home and witness to an unbelieving mother and a troubled brother with patience and gentleness than to rush into a distant land. True effectual calling begins where thou art. If thou canst not speak of Christ to thine own household, how wilt thou speak to strangers in a foreign tongue?

Yet I do not dampen holy zeal, but only test it. If the Lord indeed saith to thee as to Zaccheus, “Make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house,” then delay is dangerous. While thou art reasoning and fearing, souls may be perishing. But remember, the voice of Jesus is known by His sheep; they hear Him call them by name. Has He spoken so plainly that thou canst not mistake it? Then let not fear hold thee back. It will be disobedience to be afraid. Christ Himself saith, “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul.” Thou fearest men; thou fearest the unknown; thou fearest for thy family. But he that feareth God need fear nothing else. Trust in the promised strength. “I will help thee,” saith the Lord. He does not bid thee go in thy own might, but in His.

Now for the matter of going alone. It is not wise for a young woman to venture forth without due provision and company. Even the apostles were sent two by two. Thou dost well to consider thy mother and brother; thy care for them is not unspiritual. The calling that comes from God makes us tender, not reckless. Speak with the elders of thy church. If thy church worketh with missionaries, they can advise, train, and perhaps send a companion with thee. If God hath opened a door, He will open it through the counsel of the brethren. Wait on the Lord in prayer and fasting till He make the way plain. Do not run before the pillar of cloud, lest thou wander in the wilderness.

And for thy family: God is able to keep them in perfect peace while thou art absent, if indeed He sends thee. He can use thine obedience to soften their hearts. But if they cannot bear it now, and if the call be not yet ripe, be content to serve at home for a season. Many a Martha hath been troubled about much serving while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. Learn of Him first. Thy brother’s anxiety need not bar thy path if God be calling; yet love seeketh not her own. Lay the whole matter before the Lord. He who calmed the tempest with a word can quiet all thy fears and arrange all things in due time.

I will surely pray for thee, that thou mayest be guided into all wisdom and that the peace of God may garrison thy heart. Retire into the secret place, and there let thy soul hear Him say: “Fear not, I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God.” If thou art indeed called, no lion, no drug, no street of seeming death can separate thee from His love. But if this be only the feverish excitement of a moment, it will soon pass. Seek the face of Jesus; follow Him where thou clearly seest His footprints, not where fancy leads. And remember, the highest calling is first to holiness, then to service. “Be not faithless, but believing.” The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face shine upon thee, and give thee peace.

It is no small matter to set out upon such a path, and the fear you feel is not a sign of faithlessness but of prudence. Yet prudence must not become an excuse for disobedience, nor must zeal outrun wisdom. You ask for confirmation, but beware of seeking divine guidance only in the chance turning of a screen. Our Lord does not steer His flock by mere coincidence of film plots, as if He had no clearer voice in the Scriptures and the counsel of His Church. You saw two movies and felt a nudge. But did the apostles discern their calling by such means? The fishermen left their nets at a direct word from Christ; Matthew left his tax booth without delay. They did not puzzle over dreams or signs; they heard a command and obeyed. Where is the command you have heard? You recount no word from God, only a video about a dangerous place and a few scenes from Christian films that stirred your heart. That is not a commission. It is an impression, fragile as a vapor unless tested by fire.

Consider the pattern of our Lord’s dealings. When He sent the disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, instructed them where to go, and promised them provision. He did not send them alone into harm’s way without preparation. Even the great apostle Paul, when converted, was not sent straightway to the Gentiles until he had been instructed and confirmed by the brethren. Ananias was told to go to him, and he went obediently, but only after the Lord had spoken directly and had prepared the way. You are a young woman, still living with your mother and brother who do not share your faith. To set off to a distant land of drugs and danger without clear, external confirmation, from the Scriptures, from godly counselors, from your church’s mission board, is not faith; it is rashness. Remember the words of the Preacher: “There is a time for every purpose under heaven.” And of the Apostle: “Let us not lightly cast ourselves upon dangers, for that is rashness; nor yet, if led into them and called by circumstances, let us give in, for that is cowardice.” The question is not whether you are afraid, for even the stoutest heart trembles at the sight of a den of lions, but whether God has truly called you. And at present, you have offered no evidence of such a call beyond a subjective feeling.

Do not mistake the stirring of compassion for a marching order. Our Lord looked upon the crowds with pity and taught His disciples to pray for laborers, but He did not command every tender soul to rush into the harvest without a sickle. The first laborers were sent out two by two. You ask, “Do I get church members to go?” That is a sound impulse. If this desire is truly from God, it will not rest upon you alone. The Spirit leads the Church in unity, not in solitary inclinations. Speak with your pastor, submit this notion to those who watch over your soul. If they see the hand of God in it, they will help you discern the time and the means. But to go alone, a young woman into a foreign place of violence and addiction, with no companions and no clear plan, this is not humility but a tempting of the Lord. Our mother the holy martyr Thecla did indeed undertake a bold journey, but she was driven by a divine fire that consumed all fear, and she was sustained by miracles. Yet even she did not cast herself into the lion’s mouth without the Church’s blessing. Let your modesty and your attachment to your mother and brother be a signal rather than an obstacle: the family is the first school of holiness, and to abandon them abruptly could cause your brother’s anxiety to increase and could scandalize your mother. Is that the fruit of a good calling? Do not think that God cannot save the people of that dark city unless you, in particular, go now. He who made the universe from nothing can save many without you, and He can prepare you in due season.

I urge you, then, to turn from the flickering images of a screen to the living lamp of the word. Meditate on the passion of our Lord, who did not hasten His own death but waited for the hour appointed by the Father. When He walked upon the sea in the fourth watch of the night, He taught His disciples not to seek deliverance hastily but to bear all things manfully. He is the same yesterday and today. If He calls you to that place, He will make the path plain, not through the random selection of a YouTube video, but through the convergence of providence, the witness of the Church, and an unshakeable peace that passes all understanding. Until then, stay where you are, honor your parents, serve your local congregation, and let your very fear drive you to prayer, for prayer is the softener of souls. He who threatens punishment teaches us to remember hell, not to paralyze us but to sober us. That wholesome fear will guard you from leaping without looking, even as it guards you from sloth.

Find your confirmation not in movies but in the liturgy, in the counsel of elders, in the open doors that God alone can swing wide. If the Gospel calls, do not refuse, but be sure it is the Gospel, and not a mere human excitement, that is doing the calling. Until that is certain, keep your heart in patience. The Lord is risen, and He goes before us into Galilee. He will meet you there in the ordinary duties of your life, and if He intends a greater mission, He will not let you miss it.

The churning in your heart is understandable. You are looking at a map, calculating the distance, measuring your own strength and resources, and drawing the only conclusion the natural mind can: it is impossible. But that is precisely the moment God often moves. The fear you feel is the natural response of leaving God out of the equation. When you look only at the dangers, the drugs, the spiritual darkness you described, your heart will fail. Fear is the enemy of faith, and if allowed to take root, it will talk you out of obedience just as surely as it did the Israelites when they saw giants in the land.

Yet, look at what the fight truly is. You are right that the fear is real, but you must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you. The cure for fear is not a change of circumstance; it is remembering the Lord. David did not say he felt no fear in the valley of the shadow of death; he said he would fear no evil because "you are with me." The presence of the Lord dispels fear. I also want to gently correct a common misconception. There is no "highest calling" to a foreign mission field. The highest calling for every believer, whether you go across the ocean or stay in your home with your family, is a life of total obedience and subjection to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The question is not, "Am I supposed to be a missionary?" The question is, "Lord, what do You want from my life today, right where I am?"

He will lead you step by step. Obedience is learned through submission, often through wrestling in prayer, not by having a detailed blueprint of the next five years. Jesus Himself, though He was a Son, learned obedience through the things He suffered. The learning is in the yielding of your will, not in securing a guarantee of safety. The fear that is gripping you, the fear of leaving your family, the fear for your brother’s anxiety, even the fear of men or rejection, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The fear of man is indeed a snare. Do not let the potential reaction of your family trap you into disobedience if God is clearly leading, but also, do not be motivated by fear to make a rash, frenzied leap. Faith is wise and prudent, as Nehemiah was.

If this stirring is from God, wait on Him to send confirmation through His Word and His Spirit, not just a feeling in a movie. Seek counsel from the mature believers in your church. There is wisdom in not going alone, and your church may be the very means God uses to make a way. Bring it to them. Lay out the burden, your fears, and your limitations. Let them pray with you and help you discern if this is a call to go or a call to stand behind those who do. David did not have to fear what his enemies would do; the Lord was his confidence. If He calls you, He will be your confidence too, and He will provide the strength, the courage, and the resources you do not have now. The hope of His calling gives strength; when you see what He has prepared, it fuels you to go on, even through suffering. Keep your eyes on Him, not on the waves.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer as you seek God’s direction. It is clear He has been speaking to you in powerful ways—through the video you saw, the movies He has led you to, and the gentle nudging in your spirit. We continue to lift you up, asking the Lord to make His path unmistakably clear for you. Father, we pray for peace to replace fear, for courage to rise where hesitation lingers, and for wisdom to know each step you are calling this dear sister to take.

We ask that you would confirm your will not just through circumstances, but through an unshakable peace in her heart and through the counsel of godly mentors and her church family. If this is truly your calling, Lord, open doors that no one can shut—provide the resources, the companionship, and the protection needed for this journey. If this is not your timing or your plan, close the door gently and redirect her heart to where you would have her serve.

We also lift up her family, asking that you draw them closer to you and soften their hearts to understand her walk with Christ. Give her wisdom in how to share her faith with them, and grant her brother peace in her absence if that is part of your plan. Surround her with a community of believers who can guide, support, and walk alongside her in this.

If you have received clarity or confirmation since sharing your request, we would love to hear your praise report and rejoice with you. If the way forward still feels uncertain, we invite you to share again so we can continue praying with you. Either way, we stand in agreement with you, trusting that God is working even when the path isn’t clear.

May He bless you with His presence, fill you with His peace, and lead you by His Spirit every step of the way. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
