Christians and politics

I hear Christians say we "shouldn't care" what happens in politics, because Jesus said,"My kingdom is not part of this world'.Yes, I get that. The politicians don't "save" us, BUT should we go the other extreme, and practice total noninvolvement?I say no, and here's why. Take a look at it.Let's say there's a politician running for high office who is backing gay marriage, abortion, etc. And since "the world" believes in that, it's a close race, and the one backing that could win.And by Christians"turning a blind eye" to this by "noncommitting", here's the problem--do you realize that sometimes by being "noncommtal" we're hurting other Christians?Because if by our nonvote the person pushing those things gets in, there are going to be laws passed where the Christian dr. who doesn't perform an abortion can lose his license.Or the baker who doesn't bake a cake for a gay "wedding", {even though he owns his own bakery}, can get in legal trouble, like that poor Christian woman in Kentucky a while back?By our "non commital" attitude,we are putting our brothers and sisters into problems. What if a devil worshiper was running for office, and by our "nonvotes"in a close election he gets in and causes problems for our brothers and sisters? Why sell them out by being ho hum?Yes God takes care of us, but I don't think that should be used as an excuse not to get involved {to an extent} in things that affect all of us. We're to occupy till He comes.Like now there's a this push for abortion where the dr. can even murder the baby after birth, if the mother gives the thumbs down. Now lets say the backers of such a thing go door to door to get enough signatures to have a law like that passed. And most Christians say, they won't sign AGAINST it because they "don't want to get involved".But by enough of them doing that, the votes go in favor of the new law. Now hundreds of babies will die because of our blasé attitude.See what I mean?

God alone can change everything we see around. All we have to do is to trust in the Lord with all our heart and be in prayer day and night. After all we do not belong on earth. We belong in heaven.

But still, while we're here we should look out for each other. Why help someone who will harm other Christians to gain power and harm our brothers and sisters?

If you research history and how the Roman government was run you will see they put the church first, then the people, before politics before they fell apart

I think 1thimothy 2 : 1-3 may be the answer.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

1. I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
Another verse says we should pray for the place
( country ) where we are staying.

Jeremiah 29:7 New International Version (NIV)
Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Although this was spoken for the people in exile it also holds good for us where we are living.

Dear prayer warriors and all those who see this answer, please pray for my family which is in exile now. Please ask God to deliver us as early as possible.

Thank you so much. God bless you all.

Once the leader gets in,we are to pray for them. But I mean, while it's pending,I think instead of a "what happens, happens" attitude,if it's one with views more compatible to ours vs, one who would mislead others,I think it would be not a bad idea to pitch in.I've heard both viewpoints from Christians.Because the problem with a "ho hum" type of attitude, it can spread to other things, like witnessing. We can think, "Why witness to anyone, in the end ,God will either save them or not".

God Promises Are Based Upon His Word To His Children, Not Politics!!!

God's Promies To You:
That doesn't mean we're supposed to lay back and not do things to assist a situation, if a person with views more compatible to ours is running against more blatant devil follower.Nothing wrong with having preferences, and following them.

Pray for unity in the Body of Christ. There is no Christian Political Party in the USA. There are many Democrats, Independents, Non-Partisans, and Republicans that are Christians. And we as Christians together can change things (2 Chronicles 7:14). It is when we the “Christians” (God's...
