Christianity

We hear your heart’s desire to maintain a relationship and win someone’s heart, and we lift this before the Lord with both compassion and biblical truth. First, we must address the foundation of any relationship, it must be rooted in Christ. If this person is not a believer, we urge you to prayerfully consider whether pursuing a relationship with them aligns with God’s will. The Bible is clear: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If they do not know Jesus, our priority must be their salvation, not romantic attachment.

If this is a courtship with a fellow believer, we rejoice in that! But we must also examine the motives of your heart. Are you seeking this person’s affection out of loneliness, insecurity, or a desire to control the outcome? Or are you trusting God’s timing and sovereignty? "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This does not mean God will give you this person, but that He will align your desires with His perfect will.

If this relationship involves sin, such as premarital intimacy, emotional dependency outside of marriage, or any form of manipulation, we must rebuke that in Jesus’ name. "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). Repentance and purity must come first, for the Lord’s blessing cannot rest on disobedience.

We also remind you that winning someone’s heart is not about strategies or human effort, but about surrendering to God’s plan. If this person is meant to be your spouse, the Lord will confirm it in His time. If not, He has someone even better prepared for you. Trust in His faithfulness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach You. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your wisdom and discernment. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You close the door and redirect hearts according to Your will. If it is Your will, we pray for Your blessing and guidance, that both individuals would seek You first and honor You in their conduct.

Father, we repent of any impure motives or actions in this relationship. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and help us to walk in holiness. If there has been sexual sin, we ask for Your forgiveness and strength to flee temptation. Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against this relationship, or any relationship under Your will, shall prosper, but we also declare that no relationship outside of Your will shall stand.

We pray for this person’s heart, that they would come to know You more deeply if they do not already. Soften their heart to receive Your love and truth. And for the one praying, Lord, fill them with Your peace and contentment, knowing that You hold their future. May they trust in You alone, not in their own plans or desires.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We hear the ache behind your request, that longing to hold a relationship together and to see someone’s heart truly drawn to you. It’s a vulnerable place to be, and we’re grateful you’ve asked us to pray with you.

When we care deeply about a relationship, it’s easy to fixate on what the other person will do or feel. But the most lasting ground we can stand on is our own heart’s posture before Christ. A relationship isn’t maintained primarily by our efforts alone, it’s sustained as we keep bringing our fears and hopes to the One who made the heart and knows its deepest places. Winning another’s heart is never something we can force; it grows best in an environment of patience, kindness, and trust, qualities that the Holy Spirit cultivates in us as we abide in Him.

We don’t know the specific details of your situation, but we do know that God sees you fully and cares about the desires that weigh on you. As you pray for this person and for the relationship, invite the Lord to search your own heart, too. Let Him shape your motives, heal any unspoken hurts, and fill you with His steady love, so that whatever happens, your peace isn’t anchored in another person’s response, but in Christ.

Please join us as we pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift up this one who longs for a relationship to flourish and a heart to be won. You see the love, the hope, and the fear. Calm what is anxious, and replace it with trust in Your good timing and wisdom. Guard them from grasping or striving, and instead deepen their own connection to You, the only source of lasting love. Guide their steps, give them discernment, and if it is Your will, soften the heart of the one they care for. But more than anything, let Your will be done, and let Your name be honored in this season. We ask in Your precious name, Jesus. Amen.

When the heart sets itself to pray for the winning of another’s heart, we do well to remember what manner of love first won ours. That love has always its jealous neighbor not far off, for where there is an intense love like that which glows in the bosom of God, there must be a holy watchfulness. You have found in your heart to pray this prayer, and that is no small thing, for David had to look for his prayer in his heart, and there he found it because his was a living heart, a believing heart, a serious heart. Yet search that heart a little further. The Lord may need to put that question three times because we have given Him treble cause for mistrusting us as to whether our heart is right before Him. Is this affection you seek something born of the Spirit, a spark of the eternal flame, or does it arise out of mere natural affection? The heart is so corrupt that love to God never did get there without God’s putting it there, and a love that He would bless must be a fruit, not a root.

Consider the time when His abounding love was declared to you. It was when you were in exile, when He had redeemed you and called you by your name. He chose you for His love and then loved you for His choice. And now, if He seems to withhold this other heart from you, might it be that He is jealous over you? Oftentimes the Lord Jesus Christ loves His people so much that He takes away those whom they love too much, that He may have all their hearts for Himself. This is not a dark shadow of a blessing unrealized, it is the tender surgery of One who binds up broken hearts. There is One who can heal that very ache, for He knows what it is to be pierced. Fall at His feet; bring your poor broken heart to the heart that was pierced by the soldier’s spear. I know what despair means, but there is hope for you.

Therefore, let this prayer be purified in the fountain of His own love. Do not cease to plead, for importunity wins the day, yet let your cry be that which suits every believer and every place: “Lord, help me!” Help me to love You first and wholly. Help me to trust You with this desire. Help me to be willing to take my son, my only son Isaac, whom I love, and offer him up if that is Your will. When we pray thus, we find a place of refuge. The future, after all, must be the grand object of the eye of faith. He may give the double mercy you seek, and if He does, you shall dance for joy. But if not, He gives Himself, and is not that heaven on earth? His children shall have a place of refuge. Therefore, pray on, but let your prayer be found in a humble heart, lying on the floor of your soul, put there by the Lord Jesus Himself. For He knows what He is doing with you, and He cannot and will not let you die. Is the heart right with God? Are you clinging to an idol, or are you clinging to the Cross? That is the question, and when that is settled, you shall find sweetest rest. The God of peace be with you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for prayer to maintain a relationship and win a heart. But examine what kind of love you seek. If your desire is a fever of the flesh, a passion that burns contrary to God’s ordinance, then you mistake poison for medicine. The love that springs from lust is not love at all but a fire that consumes the one who kindles it. True love, the love that makes one blameless before God, never draws another into sin. If you love a soul, you will strive to lead it away from fornication and all impurity, not entangle it further. For to commit sin with someone is the act of one who truly hates, not one who loves.

Recall that love is a debt you owe to your brother, for we are members of one another. And love according to God’s will is always mingled with the fear of Him. Paul himself longed to see the Romans, yet he did not pursue that longing except as God permitted. He knew how to love and how to love as he ought, never transgressing the measures of heaven’s law. So too you must not cling to any relationship if it requires you to offend God. What profit is it to win a human heart and lose your own soul? Better to be cut by scourging, better to endure a thousand deaths, than to forfeit the unseeable good things that eye has not seen nor ear heard, which God has prepared for them that love Him.

Let your first care be the purity of your own heart, for out of the heart come evil thoughts: envy, deceit, perverted desires. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. If you would pray rightly, pray that both you and the one you seek be made pure, that your love may abound in all knowledge and discernment, so that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ. Commend that person to God with a contrite spirit, giving thanks in all things, and trust the Potter to shape the clay. Only then will your relationship be built not on shifting sand but on the rock of obedience to His commandments.

The deepest longings of the heart can be intense, especially when they wrap themselves around another person. It is not wrong to desire that someone you care about would come to know the Lord. But a relationship that is built on the hope of winning a heart apart from God’s clearly revealed path will always be a narrow, pressing place. You cannot go against His Word and truly win. The straitened heart eventually breaks under that pressure.

The very first thing that must be corrected is your own relationship with God. Is He truly first, the supreme love of your life? Do you love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength? When that is in order, your other relationships begin to find their proper place. But if another love has crept in and claimed that highest seat, even a love that feels noble, you have left your first love. Half-hearted devotion is something He cannot accept; He would rather we were either hot or cold.

If the person you are praying about does not share your faith, then you are trying to build on a foundation that Scripture warns against. Many have been certain that their affection and their witness would somehow change a heart, but the Spirit’s command remains: be not unequally yoked. You cannot love the world’s ways of arranging things and still have the love of the Father filling your heart as it should. The love of Christ constrains us; it binds us to a higher law, a law of love that does not make peace with disobedience. I have seen too many come with the same hope, only to find their own faith eroded and their joy, which should be a constant spring tied to Christ alone, turned into a variable tossed by another’s response.

True love is not merely a feeling; it is an action of the will, empowered by God. When our hearts are bitter or grasping, we cannot manufacture divine love. But if we surrender the whole thing to Him, confessing that we are unable to love rightly, He begins to work in us a love that is patient, kind, and does not seek its own. That means we stop arranging things according to our own desires and trust Him enough to obey, even when it costs us. Jesus Himself showed the greatest love by laying down His life, not by grasping something that the Father had not given.

So ask yourself honestly: Do I have that intimate, adoring love for Jesus, where I find myself thinking of Him constantly, my heart yearning for His presence? Or has this earthly relationship become a substitute, a kind of spiritual adultery where my deepest devotion has drifted toward another? The proof that we have passed from death to life is that we love the brethren, and the first way we love them is by refusing to lead them or join them in a path God has forbidden. We love in deed and truth, not in word only, by honoring His commandments.

Because He first loved us, our hearts can respond with a settled, abiding joy that does not depend on outward circumstances. That joy remains when the other person never changes, or when you must release them entirely. Let His love enlarge your heart so that the straitness gives way to the freedom of full surrender. Pray that God would take any hatred or demand, any self-willed love, and replace it with His own perfect love. He is greater than your heart when it condemns you, and He knows all things.

May you come back to that first love, the One whose beauty enthralls and whose presence fills the soul with gladness. Let that relationship be the fountain from which all other desires flow. Then, whether this person ever becomes what you pray for or not, you will walk in light, with no occasion for stumbling. Love the Lord your God with that whole heart, and trust that He will set every other love in its right frame.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over these past days. It has been our heart’s desire to lift your request before the Lord—to ask Him to strengthen the relationship you cherish and to soften the heart of your loved one, drawing them closer to His love and to you. We have prayed earnestly that God’s will be done, trusting that He hears and answers according to His perfect timing and purpose.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation—if you’ve seen His hand at work in restoring, healing, or deepening this relationship—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report! Please share how God has answered so that we may rejoice with you and give Him all the glory.

If, however, you haven’t yet seen the answer you’re longing for, we encourage you to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, interceding faithfully until the Lord brings His peace and resolution. Do not grow weary in seeking Him, for He is near to all who call upon His name in truth.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you trust in Him. May His grace sustain you, His love surround you, and His wisdom guide you in every step. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
