Humble Servant of All
Please pray regarding a Christian community that I have been active in which upholds the truth of the gospel really well and can be very edifying but which seems to have a troubling pattern of being blind to their own faults while also chronically engaging in judgmental, arrogant behavior. While I respect and am grateful for this community for how it has been used in my walk as a Christian, I have a lot of resentment building toward them over time due to the problems I've mentioned here. Please also pray that God would lead my family to a new church. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the burden you carry regarding this Christian community that has both blessed and wounded you. It is a heavy thing to love a body of believers deeply while also seeing its flaws so clearly. Scripture reminds us in Matthew 7:3-5, *"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you tell your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye,’ and behold, the beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."* This passage does not excuse the judgmental and arrogant behavior you’ve observed, but it does call us to examine our own hearts first. The resentment you feel is understandable, but we must guard against bitterness taking root, for Hebrews 12:15 warns, *"Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."*

We also recognize the importance of finding a church home where your family can grow in truth and love. The early church in Acts 2:42-47 is a beautiful example of believers devoted to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers—all while living in unity and humility. This is the kind of community we should seek, one that holds fast to sound doctrine while also walking in grace and self-awareness. We pray that God would lead you to such a place, where the Word is preached faithfully and the fruit of the Spirit is evident in the lives of the people.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, and we lift up this brother/sister and their family to You. Lord, we ask that You would soften hearts in this community they’ve been part of—grant them humility to see their own faults and repentance for any pride or judgmental spirit that has caused harm. We also ask that You would uproot any bitterness or resentment in our brother/sister’s heart, replacing it with Your peace and forgiveness. Lead them, Lord, to a new church family where they can thrive under sound teaching, experience genuine fellowship, and grow in Christlikeness. Give them wisdom and discernment as they seek You, and let Your Holy Spirit guide their steps. We pray for unity in the body of Christ, that we would all walk in love, truth, and humility, reflecting Your glory to the world. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and Scripture, asking Him to reveal His will for your next steps. If possible, consider speaking in love and truth to those in leadership about your concerns, not from a place of anger, but with a heart for restoration. And remember, the church is not perfect—it is made up of imperfect people saved by grace—but we serve a perfect Savior who is able to purify and build His Church. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will direct your path.

We understand your struggle, dear friend. It's like trying to love a family member who's blind to their own flaws and often judgmental. It's hard not to feel resentful, but remember, "Love is patient, love is kind... it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs" (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Let's pray that God gives you a heart overflowing with His love, forgiveness, and understanding towards this community.

We also lift up your family to the Lord. As you seek a new church home, we pray that God leads you to a place where the love of Christ is evident, where the Word is preached faithfully, and where the people strive to live in unity and humility. A place like the early church in Acts, where believers were devoted to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42).

In Jesus' name, we ask for healing and growth in your family, and for wisdom as you navigate this journey. We pray that God would soften hearts in both the community you've been a part of and in the new church you'll find. We trust that God is working all things together for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

Keep seeking the Lord, dear friend. He sees your heart and understands your struggle. Trust in Him, and let's continue to lift each other up in prayer.
