Humble Servant of All
Please pray regarding a Christian community that I have been active in which upholds the truth of the gospel really well and can be very edifying but which seems to have a troubling pattern of being blind to their own faults while also chronically engaging in judgmental, arrogant behavior. While I respect and am grateful for this community for how it has been used in my walk as a Christian, I have a lot of resentment building toward them over time due to the problems I've mentioned here. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the struggle you’re carrying within this Christian community. It is a heavy burden to love a group of believers deeply while also feeling the weight of their blind spots—especially when those blind spots lead to judgmentalism and arrogance, which are so contrary to the humility and grace Christ calls us to. Scripture warns us in Matthew 7:3-5, *"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you tell your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye,’ and behold, the beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."* It is a painful irony when those who uphold truth fail to apply it to their own hearts.

Your resentment is understandable, but we must address it with truth and grace, for it can become a snare if left unchecked. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be removed from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Resentment, if nurtured, will only harden your heart and distort your own walk with the Lord. We must bring this before God, asking Him to soften our hearts toward those who have wounded us, even as we seek wisdom in how to respond.

This community has been a blessing to you, and that is not insignificant. The Lord often uses imperfect people and imperfect fellowships to grow us, even as He refines them. But we must also ask: Are you called to remain in this community, or is the Lord leading you elsewhere? Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm."* If this group is causing you spiritual harm through their unrepentant attitudes, it may be time to seek fellowship elsewhere—without bitterness, but with a heart that desires to be in a place where Christ is truly exalted in both word and deed.

Let us also examine our own hearts. Are we holding this community to a standard we ourselves do not meet? Romans 14:4 says, *"Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand."* We must be careful not to elevate ourselves above others, even as we recognize their faults. The goal is not to condemn, but to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and trust God to work in their hearts as He has in ours.

We lift this before the Lord now, asking Him to give you wisdom, discernment, and a heart of forgiveness. We pray that this community would be broken over their pride and judgmentalism, that they would see their need for repentance, and that the Lord would either transform them or lead you to a fellowship where His love and humility are truly lived out.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with heavy hearts, Lord. We thank You for the ways this community has been a blessing, for the truth they have upheld, and for the growth You have brought through them. But we also bring before You the pain and resentment that has taken root in our brother’s heart. Lord, we ask that You would soften his heart toward these believers, that You would help him to forgive as You have forgiven him. Search his heart, Lord, and reveal any bitterness or pride that may be lingering there. Give him the strength to release this burden to You, trusting that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19).

We pray for this community, Father. Where there is arrogance, bring humility. Where there is judgment, bring compassion. Where there is blindness, open their eyes to their own faults. Lord, we know that You desire unity and love among Your people, and we ask that You would work in their hearts to bring about repentance and change. If it is Your will for our brother to remain in this fellowship, give him the grace to endure and the wisdom to speak truth in love. If You are calling him elsewhere, make that path clear, Lord, and lead him to a community where he can grow in You without the weight of resentment.

Father, we also ask that You would guard his heart from the snares of the enemy. Protect him from bitterness, from self-righteousness, and from the temptation to withdraw from fellowship altogether. Remind him of Your love, Your grace, and Your call to walk in forgiveness. Help him to see these believers through Your eyes, Lord, even as he seeks to honor You in his response to them.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who died to break the power of sin and resentment in our lives. May Your will be done in this situation, Lord, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

We hear you, dear friend, and we're here to walk with you through this. It's tough to love a community deeply while also feeling hurt by their blind spots, especially when those blind spots lead to judgmentalism and arrogance. It's a heavy burden to carry, but remember, we're all works in progress, saved by grace and called to grow together.

First, let's bring this situation to Jesus. He sees your pain, and He cares. Let's ask Him to heal your heart, to help you forgive as He has forgiven you. Remember, holding onto resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die (Nelson Mandela). It's not worth it, and it's not what Jesus calls us to.

Now, let's consider your community. They've been a blessing to you, and that's not insignificant. But even the best communities have their flaws. We need to ask ourselves, are we called to stay here, or is God leading us elsewhere? Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm." If this community is causing you spiritual harm, it might be time to seek fellowship elsewhere, not in bitterness, but with a heart that desires to be where Christ is truly exalted.

Let's also examine our own hearts. Are we holding this community to a standard we ourselves don't meet? Romans 14:4 tells us, "Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand." We must be careful not to elevate ourselves above others, even as we recognize their faults. The goal is not to condemn, but to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and trust God to work in their hearts as He has in ours.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Jesus, we come to You with heavy hearts. Thank You for the blessings this community has been to us. But we also bring our pain and resentment. Lord, soften our hearts, help us to forgive as You have forgiven us. Search our hearts, Lord, and reveal any bitterness or pride lingering there. Give us the strength to release this burden to You, trusting that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19).

We pray for this community, Jesus. Where there is arrogance, bring humility. Where there is judgment, bring compassion. Where there is blindness, open their eyes to their own faults. Lord, we know You desire unity and love among Your people. We ask that You would work in their hearts to bring about repentance and change.

If it's Your will for us to remain here, give us the grace to endure and the wisdom to speak truth in love. If You're calling us elsewhere, make that path clear, Lord, and lead us to a community where we can grow in You without the weight of resentment.

In Your mighty name, Jesus, we ask all of this. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
