Humble Prayer Partner
Nineteen months later, still asking for prayer for my SOn. Went from addiction, mental health facility for 15 mo to get clean, to coming home, no more addiction, no more medication, but now having panic attacks, not leaving the house for weeks on end and having to start a new medication. He says the medicines side effects are preventing him from staying asleep. He will fall asleep and wake up every 30 min, is what he is telling me. Then he ends up taking naps in the afternoon but staying up all night. He is a Believer in Jesus Christ but full of negative views of himself, the world and life. I need as many people as I can to lift him up today in fervent prayer. I am ready for this to be over! Meds, start working; remove all side effects so he can feel confident to move forward and fulfill the purpose you have for him! Devil, stay away from my SOn, flee! Jesus, please reveal yourself to h im, heal him from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, bring restoration and wholeness! Let this be a week of chains breaking, moving forward, reconciliation and motivation. Change will happen in Jesus name!

We stand with you in fervent prayer for your son, lifting him before the throne of grace where healing and restoration flow freely. The journey he has walked, from the grip of addiction to the confines of mental health struggles, has been long and wearying, but we declare that the God who began this good work in him will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). The enemy may have sought to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that your son might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every spirit of despair, fear, and self-condemnation that clings to him, for "there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1).

The panic attacks, sleepless nights, and negative self-perception are not from the Lord. Scripture tells us, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that the Holy Spirit would overshadow him, bringing peace that surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). Father, we ask that You would adjust the medication he is taking, let it work in harmony with his body, free from debilitating side effects. Give him restorative sleep, Lord, so that his mind, body, and spirit may be renewed. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

We also lift up his identity in Christ. The negative views he holds about himself, the world, and his future are lies from the enemy. Remind him, Lord, that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for him, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Speak truth to his heart, Jesus, and let Your Word be a lamp to his feet and a light to his path (Psalm 119:105). We declare that this week will mark a turning point, chains of anxiety broken, motivation restored, and reconciliation with the purpose You have for him.

Father, we come against every assignment of the enemy over his life. In the name of Jesus, we command every spirit of addiction, fear, and torment to flee. Your Word says, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). We plead the blood of Jesus over him, covering his mind, emotions, and body. Let Your healing virtue flow through him, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. We pray for divine encounters, moments where Your presence is so tangible that all doubt is erased. Reveal Yourself to him, Jesus, in dreams, through Your Word, and in the stillness of his heart.

We also pray for wisdom for you, his mother. The weariness of this journey is real, but we encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you" (Psalm 55:22). You are not alone in this fight. We stand with you, interceding for your son’s breakthrough.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the victory that is already won through Christ. We declare that this season of struggle is coming to an end. Let Your light shine into every dark corner of his life, bringing restoration, wholeness, and a fresh passion for the calling You have placed on his life. May he rise up in the strength of the Lord, knowing that "those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles" (Isaiah 40:31). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and healed. Amen.

We’ve been carrying your son in our prayers today, and we want you to know you are not alone in this long, wearying stretch. Nineteen months of standing with him through addiction, treatment, and now a whole new set of struggles, that kind of love runs deep, and we honor the grit it takes to keep showing up. When you say you are ready for this to be over, we hear that ache; it is not a lack of faith, just a very human exhaustion. You’re doing the right thing by inviting others to lift him up with you.

One practical thing that doesn’t replace prayer but can walk alongside it: since the medication seems to be causing broken sleep every thirty minutes, we’d gently encourage him, or you, as his mom, to let the prescribing doctor know right away. That level of sleep disruption is worth a conversation. Sometimes an adjustment in timing, dosage, or even a different option can make a real difference without anyone losing ground. You are not betraying trust in God by pursuing good medical help; we see them as gifts that can work together.

As we pray, we’re remembering that panic thrives on isolation and distorted self-view, but God’s love is designed to cast out fear. That doesn’t always feel instant, but we have watched people find steadiness again, sometimes through small, daily turns rather than one dramatic event. Your son’s identity as a believer is secure, even when his feelings scream the opposite. He is not his panic, and he is not his sleepless nights. We ask God to quiet his mind in that deep, soul-level way that sleep is meant to be, a place of peace that only He can give.

We pray for your son right now, in Jesus’ name. Lord, You see this young man holed up in fear, afraid to step outside, trapped in a cycle of negative thoughts and restless nights. We ask for good, restorative sleep tonight, unbroken and gentle. Give wisdom to his doctors that the medication would bring relief without stealing his rest. Quiet the panic from the top of his head to the soles of his feet, and in that quiet, let him sense Your love for him, not a distant idea, but a personal reality. Give his mom the perseverance and hope she needs, and let this week hold a genuine step forward, no matter how modest. We trust You for both the tiny steps and the big breakthroughs. Amen.

You have been a long season in the deep waters, and the waves seem to rise again just when you hoped to see dry land. Nineteen months, fifteen of them in that hard place of getting clean, and now the enemy has shifted his attack. Your son is free from the old chains, yet the adversary now harries him with panic and sleepless nights, shutting him in the house and whispering dark things about his worth. I hear the ache in your cry: “I am ready for this to be over!” Do not think that your Father is deaf to such a groan. He keeps your tears in His bottle, and He will not despise the weariness of His child.

The arrows of the wicked one are cruel and cunning. When he cannot hold a soul by addiction, he often shoots the fiery dart of despair, the foul suggestion that God has turned away, that there is no hope, no purpose, no way forward. Those negative views your dear son holds of himself and the world are not his own true voice; they are the black echo of the pit. But mark this: the Lord Jesus Himself was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He entered into the darkness so that your son would never be alone in it. The dark insinuation that God has forgotten him is a lie from start to finish. He who bought him with His own blood will never loosen His hold. Even when your son cannot feel the Father’s hand, that hand is steadying him in the dark, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Now, what of you in this hour? You have called for many to pray, and you have thrown yourself into the battle with fervent words. That is right, for the evil one cannot abide believing prayer. Yet let me draw you to the well for a moment. In the wilderness there is a store of living water, this precious Book with its thousands of promises, suitable to every case and season. When sleep scatters like mist and the mind races, the Lord can stoop down and speak a word that brings a great calm. The medicine may work slowly, but the Great Physician is never late. Commend your son’s body and brain to the One who made them, and ask boldly that every side effect be stayed. He can lay His cool hand upon a restless mind and grant swift slumber as a gift of love.

And remember this: the deliverance, when it comes, will not leave him bare. The Lord brings His people out of every Egypt “with silver and gold.” The long months in that facility, the clean freedom he now walks in, and even this present furnace, all are in the hand of One who means to bring him forth with a faith tried and precious, ready to declare the works of the Lord to others still in chains. You are ready for it to be over, and so is the God who sees the end from the beginning. He will not keep the heat burning a moment longer than wisdom requires. And when He brings the deliverance, there shall not be one feeble person in all the tribes of His redeemed, not one, for your son shall be whole.

So lift your head, brave mother. Take this word as your own, and write it on the wall of your heart: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Believe it for yourself, and speak it over your son. The chains are breaking even now, for the key has turned in the lock, and old Giant Despair must let go his prey.

Lord Jesus, thou who didst still the storm with a word, speak peace to this tormented soul. Drive back the spirit of panic that holds him prisoner in his own home, and let thy perfect love cast out his fear. Grant, we pray, that the medicine he takes would do its proper work without hurtful side effects, and give him deep, healing sleep that restores his frame. Reveal thyself to him as the tender Shepherd who carries the lambs in thy arms, and break every chain that binds his mind. For thy weary handmaid, renew her strength as the eagle’s. Let this very week be a week of chains falling, of steps taken forward, and of hope restored. In the mighty and merciful name of Jesus we ask it, Amen.

Do not let your heart be troubled by the seeming slowness of this deliverance. You cry out for the chains to break this very week, and surely the Lord is able to do so in an instant. Yet consider how often Christ Himself delayed, that the healing might run deeper than the body. When He fed the multitudes, they sought Him again not for the miracles but because their bellies were filled. He rebuked them, not to wound, but to lift their eyes from perishable bread to the food that endures to eternal life. Your son has been freed from the slavery of addiction, and that is no small mercy. But now the enemy attacks the mind, seeking to bind him with fear and self-loathing. The medicine that should bring sleep torments him with restlessness, and he hides from the world. These are not signs that God has abandoned him, but that the battle has shifted to a different ground.

You are weary, and I hear it in your words: “I am ready for this to be over!” That weariness is the cry of a soul that has fought long and seen too little fruit. But remember the Apostle, who counted not his own life dear, but pressed on through bonds and afflictions, knowing only that the Holy Spirit testified in every city that chains awaited him. He did not know the kind of suffering, yet he shrank not. Why? Because he understood that this life is a race, and the course is not measured by ease but by faithfulness. Your son’s panic, his sleepless nights, his dark view of himself and the world, these are the afflictions appointed for this season. They are not the final word. The devil would have him believe he is worthless and hemmed in, but Christ says, “Labor not for the meat that perisheth.” The restoration you seek is not merely a calm mind or a full night’s sleep, precious as those are. It is the meat that endures: a soul anchored so firmly in Christ that neither panic nor side effects can shake his confidence in the love of God.

Do not think I speak coldly. I have known nights of weeping over souls that seemed to make no progress, and I tell you that the tears shed in secret are more bitter than any shed openly. But this I have learned: the teacher sows, and the disciple must hear and hold fast. What is required is not one part of virtue only. A man may be free from substance but soft and unmanly in trial; or he may be bold yet careless in heeding the word. No, all parts must be cultivated. Your son must now learn fortitude. He must hear the word continually, recollecting the promises of God, and he must despise the earthly ease that has been taken from him. The medication’s side effects are a cross. Let him not flee it by disordered sleep and idle napping, but let him offer that exhaustion to God as a sacrifice, crying out, “Lord, You are my rest; uphold me in the watches of the night.” Encourage him to keep a steady order in his days and to resist the temptation to reverse night and day. Idleness of body can feed the despair of the soul. Even in his weakness, let him do some small labor or service, that the evil one find no empty house to occupy.

And you, O mother, be of good courage. You have not failed if you have declared to him the whole counsel of God. The blood of Christ has purchased him, and He will stand forward in his defense. Do not fix your hope on the medicine’s quick success, nor on a sudden reversal of all symptoms. Rather, pray that in this storm he may find the Rock. The harvest will come in its time. For now, the seed is buried, and that looks like death. But the Lord who had compassion on the multitude because they had been with Him three days and had nothing to eat, He has compassion on your son. He will not send him away fasting, lest he faint on the way. Keep lifting him up, keep exhorting with tears, and then entrust him to the God who heals from the crown of the head to the sole of the foot in His own wisdom and season. The chains that matter most are breaking even now, though you do not see it. Let this be your confidence: neither panic nor sleeplessness nor the whispers of the enemy can separate him from the love of Christ. Stand firm, and you will see the restoration that comes, not always as we envision, but always as He intends.
