Cats and Bible study

Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
Please pray for me because even though I love the Bible and studying books about my Christian faith, when I do my Bible study, I sometimes feel so negative toward it like I don't feel like doing it or I'm dragging my feet to do it. I think this feeling is at least partially related to sometimes struggling to comprehend certain Christian books and passages in the Bible. For example, I'm reading a Christian book right now that is a very difficult book to read - it was written hundreds of years ago. I love it but I struggle with comprehension. Please pray for me about this. Please also pray for my cats to be and stay healthy and to know that they are loved. Pray the same for all the other sweet animals in my life. Please also pray as some of my church members had to put their dog down recently. I really loved that little dog and feel so bad about it all. They are upset too. Please also pray for me to reunite with a dog who I love very much. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the Lord with love and compassion. First, we want to address the weariness you feel in your Bible study. It is not uncommon for believers to experience seasons of spiritual dryness or struggle, even when our hearts long to draw near to God. The enemy would love nothing more than to discourage you from feasting on God’s Word, for he knows its power to transform, renew, and strengthen. But we declare that your love for Scripture is a gift from the Holy Spirit, and we rebuke any spirit of slothfulness or distraction that seeks to steal your joy in studying God’s truth.

The Word tells us in Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Even when comprehension feels difficult, the Holy Spirit is at work in you, illuminating truth and shaping your heart. We encourage you to press into prayer before opening your Bible or Christian books, asking the Lord to open your eyes to see wonderful things in His law (Psalm 119:18). Remember, too, that the Christian life is not meant to be walked alone—seek out trusted believers who can study alongside you or discuss challenging passages. The wisdom of godly mentors and the fellowship of the saints can be a great encouragement.

We also lift up the struggle you face with older Christian writings. It is true that language and cultural contexts change over time, but the timeless truths of Scripture and the wisdom of godly men and women from centuries past remain invaluable. Do not grow discouraged if a book is difficult to grasp at first. Take it slowly, pray for understanding, and consider pairing it with modern commentaries or study guides that can help bridge the gap. Proverbs 2:3-5 reminds us, "Yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding; if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God." Your diligence will be rewarded.

Now, we come before the Lord with your requests for your beloved animals. We thank God for the joy and comfort your cats and other creatures bring into your life. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man respects the life of his animal," and we know that God cares deeply for His creation. We pray over your pets, asking the Lord to grant them health, safety, and long life. May they continue to be a source of blessing and companionship to you, and may you always steward them with love and wisdom. We also lift up the animals that have passed on, including the little dog your church family had to lay to rest. We trust that God, in His infinite mercy, holds all creatures in His care, and we pray for comfort for those who grieve. Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 reminds us, "For that which happens to the sons of men happens to animals. Even one thing happens to them. As the one dies, so the other dies. Yes, they have all one breath; and man has no advantage over the animals; for all is vanity. All go to one place. All are from the dust, and all turn to dust again." Yet we take comfort in knowing that God’s love extends even to the sparrows, and He is near to the brokenhearted.

You also ask for prayer to reunite with a dog you love very much. We pray that if it is God’s will, He would open the door for this reunion in His perfect timing. May your heart find peace in trusting Him with this desire, knowing that He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). If this reunion is not part of His plan, we pray He would fill the longing in your heart with His perfect peace and provide other ways to experience His love and joy through His creation.

Finally, we want to gently remind you of the importance of coming before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through Jesus alone that we have access to the Father. We encourage you to always approach God in prayer through the mediation of Christ, for He is our great High Priest who intercedes for us (Hebrews 4:14-16). If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, we invite you to consider doing so today. Romans 10:9 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, received by faith, and it is the foundation of a life lived in communion with God.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our sister to You, asking that You would renew her joy and passion for Your Word. Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or slothfulness that seeks to hinder her time in Scripture. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may delight in Your law and meditate on it day and night (Psalm 1:2). Grant her wisdom and understanding as she studies, and surround her with fellow believers who can encourage and sharpen her in the faith.

We also pray for her beloved animals, Lord. You are the Creator of all living things, and we ask that You would watch over her cats and all the creatures in her care. Grant them health, safety, and long life, and may they continue to be a source of comfort and joy to her. We lift up the memory of the little dog that passed away, and we ask for Your peace to comfort those who grieve. May they feel Your presence in their sorrow, knowing that You are near to the brokenhearted.

Father, we ask for Your will to be done regarding the dog she longs to reunite with. If it is Your plan, open the door for this reunion in Your perfect timing. If not, we pray that You would fill her heart with Your peace and provide other ways for her to experience Your love and faithfulness.

Lord, we thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and we pray that our sister would always approach You in His name. Draw her closer to Yourself, and help her to walk in the fullness of life that You offer. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

I've been thinking about you and your Bible study journey. It's amazing how much we can learn and grow when we dive into God's Word, isn't it? I want you to know that I'm right there with you, cheering you on. Those feelings of weariness or dragging your feet are normal, but remember, God is always there to strengthen and encourage you. As it says in Isaiah 40:29, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." So, let's keep pressing on together, one step at a time.

I also wanted to pray for your cats and the other animals in your life. I believe that God cares deeply about all creatures, big and small. So, let's ask Him to watch over them, keep them healthy, and fill your home with His peace and love. And if there's anything specific you'd like me to pray for, just let me know. I'm here for you.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

I believe I have vocal nodules due to singing improperly for long periods of time years ago. I still have to go to the doctor for it which I'm unsure if I can afford even though I love to sing. Starting that time of singing improperly for long periods, I often experience pain after singing too...
