Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for letting us know about the bump on your right pointer finger and for asking for prayer. We are praying with you that it will prove to be nothing serious and will soon go away, and we are encouraged that you want to keep trusting the Lord through this.
God cares about your physical needs. Scripture shows that when Jesus healed people, Matthew connected it to what Isaiah had foretold, that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That points us to the truth that what Christ accomplished is not only for the forgiveness of sin but also for the body. When He broke bread and said this is My body broken for you, He was inviting us to remember that His suffering covers the whole person. So it is right and biblical to bring a physical concern like this to Him in prayer.
We receive from God by faith, not by trying to earn His help. Faith is a gift, and God honors the heart that simply trusts Jesus and His grace. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. It is more than a general thought that God could help. It is an active trust that He hears you now and loves to answer according to His wisdom and mercy. At the same time, praying Lord, Your will be done is not a lack of faith. It is wisdom and complete commitment to Him, trusting His perfect will for your life.
Having faith does not mean you will always see instant healing or that you have failed if healing takes time. Scripture tells us that some of the most faithful people died still trusting God without having received everything they had hoped for, and that even strong men and women of faith had moments when their faith wavered. The just shall live by faith, which means a life of ongoing trust through good days and hard days. God looks at that trust itself, which He counts for righteousness through Jesus Christ, just as He did with Abraham.
True faith also shows itself in action. If this bump persists, grows, becomes painful, or worries you, it is a wise and faithful step to have it examined by a medical professional while you continue to pray. That is not a lack of trust. It is allowing your trust to be lived out in responsible care for the body God has given you. There is also a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, and as you feed your faith by hearing the Word of God and resting in His promises, that peace can help sustain you physically and emotionally.
We are praying for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this need to You. You know this small bump and the concern it has caused. We ask for Your mercy and healing touch, that it would fade away and be found to be nothing to worry about. We ask for peace to guard this heart and for continued faith to trust You no matter the outcome. Let Your will be done and let Your comfort be felt today. We trust You as our healer and our righteousness through faith in Christ. Amen.
Please keep us updated, and keep looking to Jesus. He is faithful.
