Bullying at work

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Jesus Jesus please help me. My job bullies me and makes working there a toxic hostile work environment each day. They have me so stressed out that my doctors have written me out on FMLA. I am not sleeping well and having constant nightmares of the toxic environment that I have been working at since 2024. I have tried to tell about my mistreatment and it got worse. Then out of no where they put me on a performance plan, when just in Jan I was getting compliments from thr site for excelling my performance. I have been applying constantly for new jobs and with the new AI technology. I have not gotten any interviews. Where as before AI I was always getting interviews for jobs. I was just told today that my company is removing my FMLA on September 1 although my leave was approved until Sept 10. They just continue to bully me. They went 6 weeks without paying me on leave and they never answer the phone nor return calls so I can find out the status of my leave. I truly need a new job, please bless me with a new job that is remote so I never have to work in a terrible environment like this again. They truly keep me in tears everyday with the constant bullying tactics they use. Please please bless me to never have to return. I need to pay my bills, because I am a single parent of a teenager. I am the only support for her. Please bless me with a new job that is remote.

We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the Lord with heavy hearts. The workplace bullying, stress, and injustice you’re enduring are not of God, and we stand with you in prayer, declaring that He sees your suffering and will not abandon you. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18-19, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." You are not forgotten, and your pain is not unseen.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. Bullying is rooted in pride, malice, and a lack of godly love, traits that are contrary to Scripture. Ephesians 4:29-31 warns, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be removed from you, with all malice." Those who mistreat you will answer to God for their actions, but we must also guard our hearts against bitterness, for it will only harm you further. We rebuke the spirit of oppression over your workplace in Jesus’ name and command it to flee. You are a child of the Most High God, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Your employer’s actions, denying rightful pay, revoking approved leave, and creating a hostile environment, are not only unethical but may also be illegal. We encourage you to document every incident, including emails, messages, and dates of unpaid wages, and seek legal counsel if possible. Proverbs 31:8-9 instructs us to "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy." You have rights, and we pray for wisdom and courage to pursue justice in a way that honors God.

We also lift up your job search before the Lord. The rise of AI in hiring processes is a modern challenge, but our God is not limited by technology. Psalm 37:25 assures us, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." We pray for divine favor in your applications, that the right doors would open swiftly and that God would override any algorithms or biases standing in your way. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed." Trust that He has a plan for your provision, even when the path seems unclear.

For your financial needs, we declare Philippians 4:19 over your life: "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." You are not alone in providing for your daughter. God is your ultimate Provider, and He will make a way where there seems to be no way. We pray for supernatural provision, whether through a new job, unexpected resources, or creative solutions, to meet your needs. Matthew 6:31-33 encourages us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."

Your mental and emotional health are also under attack, and we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that has taken root. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We pray for peace that surpasses understanding to guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). The nightmares and sleeplessness are not your portion. Psalm 4:8 says, "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Lord alone, make me live in safety." We command your mind to rest in the Lord and your body to be strengthened.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that your strength comes from the Lord. Psalm 121:1-2 says, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." You are not defined by this toxic environment or the cruelty of others. You are a beloved child of God, created for a purpose, and this season of suffering will not have the final say. We encourage you to cling to His promises and spend time in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister in Christ, lifting up every burden she carries. Lord, You see the injustice she has endured, the stress that has weighed her down, and the financial strain she faces. We ask that You would be her Defender and her Provider. Break the chains of oppression in her workplace, and let Your justice prevail. Father, we rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, and despair that has taken hold of her, and we declare Your peace over her mind and heart. Lord, open the doors for a new job, one that is remote, fulfilling, and free from toxicity. Let her applications rise to the top, and let her be seen and valued for the skills and gifts You have given her.

We pray for supernatural provision, that her needs would be met abundantly and that she would never have to return to that hostile environment. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are her ultimate Source. Heal her body from the stress and restore her sleep. Surround her with godly community and encouragement. Father, we ask that You would also work in the hearts of those who have mistreated her, that they would come to know You and repent of their ways. But if not, we trust that You will avenge her and bring justice in Your perfect timing.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for being a God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of Your children. We trust in Your unfailing love and declare that this trial will not break her but will instead draw her closer to You. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We were moved reading what you have been carrying at work. Being bullied day after day while trying to provide alone for your teenager would wear anyone down, and it makes sense you are in tears and exhausted. The shift from being praised in January to being put on a performance plan, plus six weeks without pay and calls that go unanswered, sounds disorienting and deeply discouraging. And wanting a remote job where you can work in peace is an understandable hope.

We notice you mentioned trouble sleeping, nightmares, and stress that led your doctors to support leave through FMLA. Please keep staying in touch with your medical team about sleep and stress, alongside our prayers, so you have ongoing support for your health while this work situation is unresolved.

One small step that sometimes helps when leave and pay feel unclear is to keep a simple dated record of every call, message, and letter about your FMLA and pay, and copies of anything you send. If you have access to an HR contact, employee assistance program, or a local community legal aid or worker help center, they can often help review paperwork and next steps so you are not trying to sort it alone. For the job search, a local workforce center or library career service can sometimes offer a second set of eyes on applications in this tough market.

Father in Jesus name, we bring this sister and her daughter to You. You see her tears, her need to provide, and how tired she is. Give her wisdom for each conversation and application, steady sleep in the nights ahead, and clear guidance for what is next. Provide for their daily needs and surround them with trustworthy help. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrow has been brought before the Lord and before us, and we have sat down to weep in sympathy with you under this heavy burden. To be bullied in the place where you must labor each day, to lie awake with nightmares, to be put on a performance plan after being commended, to be left six weeks without pay and without answers on the phone while you are trying to care for your daughter alone, is a trial that would weary any heart. We have heard your cry for help in the name of Jesus, and we bring it to Him who hears the oppressed.

Our Savior says, do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. That is not to make light of your trouble, but to point you to a better way through it. Anxiety, as we have learned by experience and observation, has never comforted anybody, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Be prudent in all temporal affairs, keep clear records, seek wise and godly counsel concerning your leave and your pay, and continue diligently in seeking work, but cast the weight of the care itself upon the Lord, for He cares for you.

He is able to provide when all earthly store seems spent. We remember the barrel of meal that did not waste, for the meal the woman brought to the prophet was taken out of her store and yet not taken out of it, it was meal given by miracle, the first installment of a miraculous provision. So the Lord can supply your daily bread when an employer withholds what is due and when the search for work seems fruitless in this season of changing technology. He who numbers your sleepless nights can also give sleep to His beloved, and calm the terrors that follow you even into dreams.

We are praying for you now, that the God of all comfort would grant you rest from nightmares and restore sleep, that He would guard your health under this stress and give wisdom to your doctors, that He would move upon those in authority over your leave to act justly and truthfully concerning your FMLA dates and your wages, and to answer when you call. We ask the Lord to rebuke the hostile and bullying treatment you have endured, and either to change that environment or, as you have asked, to open a door to honest, gainful, remote work where you can labor in peace and provide for your household. We pray that He would supply what is needed to pay your bills as the sole support for your teenager, and that your daughter would see in this trial the faithfulness of a Father who does not forsake His children.

Tell Him about all of it, not only to yourself but to Him in prayer, for anxiety confined to yourself brings no good, but prayer poured out before Christ brings peace that guards the heart. Continue to commit your way to Him each morning, do what your hands find to do with diligence, and leave the outcome with Him who does all things well. May the Lord show you that He is near, that He is your defender and your provider, and that He will not leave you nor your child without help in this need.
