We lift up your brother before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the pain of divorce and the grip of alcoholism. The Word of God tells us, *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit."* (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We stand in the gap for him, declaring that God is his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB).
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). We ask that You break the chains of alcoholism in his life. Your Word says, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Lord, reveal that way of escape to him, and strengthen him to walk in sobriety. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name, and we declare that he is set free by the blood of Christ (John 8:36 WEB).
We also pray for his healing from the wounds of divorce. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and its breaking brings deep sorrow. Yet, we know that You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3 WEB). Comfort him, Lord, and remind him that his identity is not in his marital status but in You. Help him to forgive and release bitterness, for Your Word commands us to *"let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice."* (Ephesians 4:31 WEB). Grant him the grace to walk in forgiveness, even as You have forgiven him (Colossians 3:13 WEB).
Father, we ask for Your provision in his housing needs. You know his financial struggles, and we trust that You will open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8 WEB). Provide an apartment that is safe, affordable, and close to family, so he may be surrounded by love and support. Your Word promises, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We claim that promise over his life today.
Lord, we also pray for his spiritual restoration. If he has strayed from You, draw him back with Your lovingkindness. Remind him that You are a God who restores, and that *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9 WEB). Surround him with godly men who will encourage him in his faith and hold him accountable. Let him find a church family that will love and support him as he rebuilds his life.
Finally, we ask that You guard his heart from despair. The enemy would love to keep him in a place of shame and isolation, but we declare that he is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB). Fill him with hope, peace, and a renewed sense of purpose. May he rise from this season stronger in his faith and more dependent on You.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
