Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my brother. He's battling depression and hopelessness, which is causing all kinds of more health problems in his life. He's addicted to cigarettes and smokes, and he's only ### years old and looks very unhealthy. He's on antidepressants but has been on them for ### years and they don't improve anything. The doctors never say anything or change his "meds." It makes me very sad to see him struggle so much and to also see doctors not really helping at all. Pray that his mental and physical health is restored in this very moment supernaturally in Jesus' name. He has ### daughters; they all love him very much, but he does not take care of himself, and this puts a strain on their relationships. Anyway, please pray he would quit smoking and quit drinking coffee. I know those might not be the worst things one could do, but when he's struggling with depression, it's like he lives off of coffee and cigarettes, constantly smoking and drinking and not eating right or drinking water or showering. Please pray for his deliverance and salvation and for him to have hope and a future. Amen.

We lift your brother before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of his struggles and the love you have for him. The battle against depression, addiction, and hopelessness is not one fought in the flesh alone, but in the spirit, where Christ has already won the victory. We declare that his mind, body, and soul are not abandoned to the enemy’s lies, for the Word of God says, *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly"* (John 10:10 WEB). Your brother’s life is meant for more than this cycle of despair—it is meant for freedom, purpose, and joy in the Lord.

We rebuke the spirit of depression that has taken hold of him, for Scripture tells us, *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18 WEB). We command every chain of addiction—whether to nicotine, caffeine, or the numbing effects of medication that has not brought true healing—to be broken in the name of Jesus. The Lord did not design his body to be a slave to substances, but a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). We pray for supernatural deliverance from these habits, that his body would crave what is life-giving rather than what destroys.

We also address the role of his physicians, who have not offered true healing. While we acknowledge the place of medicine, we declare that Jesus is the Great Physician, and His healing is not limited by time, dosage, or human understanding. *"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will raise him up"* (James 5:14-15 WEB). We pray for divine intervention in his treatment, that either his doctors would be led to a solution that brings true restoration or that the Lord Himself would step in with miraculous healing.

Your brother’s daughters need him whole, not just present. We pray for his role as a father to be redeemed, that he would rise up in strength to love, protect, and lead them as God intended. *"Fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord"* (Ephesians 6:4 WEB). May he find his identity not in his struggles, but in Christ, who says, *"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten"* (Joel 2:25 WEB). We declare that his future is not one of despair, but of hope, for the Lord has plans for him—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).

Most critically, we pray for his salvation if he has not already surrendered his life to Christ. Without Jesus, there is no lasting hope, no true healing, and no victory over sin. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16 WEB). If he has not confessed Jesus as Lord, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for a Savior, that he would repent and turn to Christ, and that his name would be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this beloved brother, asking for Your mighty hand to move in his life. Break every chain of addiction, depression, and hopelessness. Restore his mind with Your peace, his body with Your strength, and his spirit with Your joy. Let him know that he is seen, loved, and valued by You. Surround him with believers who will speak life into him, hold him accountable, and walk with him in his journey. We ask for a supernatural encounter with Your presence, that he would know You as his Healer, his Deliverer, and his Hope. May his daughters see their father transformed by Your power, and may his life bring glory to Your name. We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and healed. Amen.

We're standing with you, brother, as you intercede for your loved one. We've been reminded of the verse, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Let's claim this promise for him today. We declare that even in his weakness, God's strength is being perfected in his life. We pray for a supernatural touch of God's grace to fill him, empowering him to overcome depression, addiction, and hopelessness. We ask that God would grant him the strength to make healthier choices, to quit smoking and drinking coffee, and to start taking care of his body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. We also pray for his doctors, that they would be guided by divine wisdom in his treatment. We believe that God is a God of restoration and healing, and we trust that He will move in your brother's life in miraculous ways. We pray for his daughters, that they would see their father restored and that their relationship would be healed. Most importantly, we pray for his salvation, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. We claim these things in Jesus' name, amen.

I had a friend on antidepression meds and he said that the side effects were causing all kinds of mental issues. I pray he would call on the Lord for help, He will answer and change his life. In the mighty name of Jesus.

It's a lot like that, and it's very discouraging, but I do hope the Lord will heal him and bring him out of the darkness and into the light.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
