We hear the deep pain and spiritual battle in your words, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this heavy burden before the throne of God. The enemy seeks to divide families, to sow discord, and to distort the truth, especially where the light of Christ should shine brightest. Your brother-in-law’s mockery of genuine faith and his harmful actions reveal a heart not surrendered to God, despite his profession. Scripture warns us, "By their fruits you will know them" (Matthew 7:16 WEB), and the fruit here is bitter, rooted in deception.
We rebuke the spiritual warfare at work in this situation. The enemy has no authority over a family bound by Christ, and we declare that his schemes will not prevail. Ephesians 6:12 (WEB) reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We take up the full armor of God on your behalf, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, and we command every lying spirit to flee in Jesus’ name.
Your struggle with bitterness and distance toward your sister and niece is understandable, but we encourage you to guard your heart. Colossians 3:13 (WEB) says, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." This does not mean excusing sin, but it does mean releasing the offense to God and trusting Him to work in their lives. Your parents’ grief over this separation is also heavy, and we pray for their hearts to be comforted by the Holy Spirit.
We must also address the spiritual condition of your brother-in-law. His life does not reflect a regenerated heart, and his influence is destructive. We pray for his eyes to be opened to the truth, for conviction to fall upon him, and for repentance to take root. If he is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing, as Matthew 7:15 warns, then we must be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16 WEB). This may mean setting boundaries for your protection and the protection of your family, while still extending grace and prayer.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name that gives us access to Your throne. Lord, we lift up this family to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB), and we break every chain of spiritual warfare in Jesus’ name. Father, expose the lies and deception at work in this situation, and let Your light pierce the darkness.
We pray for this brother-in-law, Lord. Soften his heart, convict him of his sin, and draw him to true repentance. If he is not Yours, we ask that You save him, for You desire that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). We also pray for wisdom and discernment for this family, let them not be deceived by empty professions of faith, but let them walk in the truth of Your Word.
Father, we ask for healing in the relationships within this family. Restore the bond between siblings, between parents and children, and between grandparents and their grandchild. Where there is bitterness, bring forgiveness. Where there is distance, bring reconciliation. Where there is sorrow, bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB).
We pray for this niece, Lord. Protect her from harmful influences, and let her see the love of Christ through her extended family. Surround her with godly examples, and let her heart be tender toward You.
Finally, Lord, we ask for strength and endurance for this family. Let them not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9 WEB), but let them trust in Your timing and Your justice. We declare that You are a God who restores, and we trust You to bring beauty from these ashes (Isaiah 61:3 WEB).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing firm in faith, even when the battle feels overwhelming. Lean on the promises of God’s Word, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If possible, seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who can offer wisdom and support. You are not alone in this fight, God is with you, and so are we.
