Brother in christ

Thank you for bringing this burden forward so we can stand with you in prayer for our brother who is struggling with fluid on his lungs and difficulty breathing. We are joining you now to ask the Lord for mercy, comfort and healing for him.

We believe with all our hearts that God heals today. Scripture shows us that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He touched, sometimes He only spoke a word from a distance, sometimes healing came instantly and once it came gradually. He was never confined to a single pattern. In the same way today we see both sudden healings and gradual healings, and we believe that even the natural processes of healing that God has placed within the body are divine, because He is the one who created the body and its ability to recover. At times His healing touches the body, and at times He brings deep healing to the mind and heart as well, bringing peace where there has been fear and distress.

There is much about healing we do not fully understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and others are not, and if we were in the Lord's place we might do things differently. For that reason we must be careful not to add to a person's suffering by saying that sickness must mean there is hidden sin or a lack of faith. The Bible shows that in one case Jesus connected a man's condition to sin, but it would be wrong to make that a general rule. Job's friends made that mistake. Healing is a gift, and the Holy Spirit gives gifts as He wills, not all in the same way, for we are one body with many members. There is a way that is even greater than any gift, which is love, and love calls us to walk with one another with patience, truth and grace whether healing comes at once or over time.

We also want to be honest that there is much confusion today around healing, with appeals that stir up emotion or make promises Scripture does not make. A verse that is often used that way is the wish for good health found in the third letter of John. That was the heartfelt wish of John for his friend Gaius, not a blanket promise that every believer will always be well. Our confidence is better placed in what is clearly taught, that Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses as Isaiah foretold, and that He has power over every realm, physical and spiritual, and that He invites us to call on Him.

We encourage you to continue to seek good medical care for your brother, for God often works through the skill and means He has provided, and to invite the elders to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord as James teaches. Faith may be as simple as a point of contact where we release our trust to God for the work He desires to do.

Let us pray together. Father, in the precious name of Jesus we lift up our brother to You. You know his body, his lungs, his every breath. We ask that You would have mercy and bring healing according to Your perfect will. Ease his breathing, remove the fluid that burdens him, guide the hands of those who care for him, and give wisdom for every decision. Fill him and his family with Your peace that passes understanding, and let them know Your presence hour by hour. If it pleases You, touch him directly and restore him, and if healing comes gradually, sustain him through each step. Above all, draw him closer to Yourself and let Christ be glorified in his life. We trust him into Your loving hands. Amen.

We will continue to pray for him and for you. Please keep us updated so we can keep interceding, and may the Lord give you strength as you support him in love.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for our Christian brother who has fluid on the lungs and breathlessness. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for him.

We have continued to lift him up before the Lord and we are asking our Heavenly Father to touch his lungs, to remove the fluid, to restore clear and easy breathing and to give him strength and peace. We pray for wisdom and skill for the doctors and those caring for him and for comfort for his family and all who love him. We trust in the Lord who heals us and we claim His promise in Psalm 103:3 that He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases.

If your request was answered and our brother has been healed and his breathing restored, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you and give glory to God. If your request does not seem to have been answered and he still struggles with breathlessness, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen.
