We hear the deep pain in your words, and our hearts ache with you in this time of brokenness. The Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone in this struggle, He sees your tears, collects them in His bottle, and records them in His book (Psalm 56:8). We come before Him now, lifting you up in prayer, asking for His healing touch or His deliverance, whichever aligns with His perfect will.
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, interceding for our dear brother/sister who is carrying this burden of a broken heart. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who binds up the wounds of the broken and restores what has been shattered. We ask that You would either heal this situation according to Your will or deliver them from it, granting them peace and clarity in the process. Your Word says in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds." We claim this promise over them today.
Lord, if there is any sin or unforgiveness in this situation, we ask that You would reveal it to them. Help them to release any bitterness, anger, or resentment, for Your Word warns us in Hebrews 12:15 that a root of bitterness can defile many. Give them the strength to forgive, even as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13). If this brokenness is tied to a relationship that does not honor You, we pray that You would expose any ungodly patterns and lead them into Your truth. Help them to walk in purity and righteousness, seeking Your will above all else.
We also rebuke any spirit of despair or hopelessness that may be trying to take hold. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in agreement with you for God’s best in this situation. If this pain is leading you away from God rather than drawing you closer to Him, we encourage you to press into His presence. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Spend time in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105).
Lord, we ask that You would surround our brother/sister with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them the strength to wait on You, for those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Help them to trust in Your timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).
If this situation involves a relationship that is not aligned with Your Word, whether it be an ungodly union, sexual immorality, or a partnership that does not honor You, we pray that You would give them the courage to walk away. Your Word is clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14) and that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this brokenness is a result of sin, we pray for repentance and restoration in Your way, not the world’s.
Above all, we pray that you would fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the One who was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3). He understands your pain and is able to comfort you in it. If you have not yet placed your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. The Bible tells us that "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
