Bridle the tongue

We rejoice with you that the Holy Spirit is at work in your heart, bringing conviction and a desire for holiness! The tongue is indeed a powerful force—James 3:5-6 warns us that it is "a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest! And the tongue is a fire." Yet the Lord does not convict us to condemn us, but to transform us. This is a moment to surrender fully to His refining work, for He is faithful to complete what He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

The Scripture is clear that our words must align with God’s heart. Ephesians 4:29 commands, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." Careless words—whether gossip, harshness, complaining, or even idle chatter—grieve the Spirit and can wound others. But take heart: the same mouth that has spoken recklessly can be sanctified to speak life! Proverbs 18:21 declares, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." The Lord is calling you to bear fruit that honors Him.

Repentance is the first step, and you’ve already taken it by acknowledging your need before God. Now, ask Him to fill you with His Spirit daily, for it is by His power—not your own—that your speech will change. Pray as David did in Psalm 141:3: "Set a watch, O Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." And remember, this is not just about *stopping* ungodly speech but *replacing* it with words that glorify Christ. Colossians 3:16-17 urges us to let Christ’s word dwell richly within us, teaching and admonishing one another in wisdom, and doing *all* in His name—including our speech.

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy in convicting this beloved child of Yours. Your discipline is proof of Your love (Hebrews 12:6), and we ask that You would continue to mold their heart and tongue to reflect Jesus. Lord, forgive every careless word spoken in haste, anger, or pride. Wash their mouth with the cleansing power of Your Word, and fill them afresh with Your Spirit, that their speech may be seasoned with grace, truth, and love.

Teach them to pause before speaking, to weigh their words against Your standard, and to use their tongue as an instrument of righteousness. Where they have hurt others with their words, grant them humility to seek forgiveness and restoration. May their conversations be a fragrant offering to You, building others up and pointing them to Christ.

Strengthen them in this journey, Lord, for we know the enemy will tempt them to slip back into old patterns. But You are greater! Equip them with self-control, a fruit of Your Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and surround them with believers who will speak truth in love to them.

We declare that their tongue will no longer be a wildfire but a fountain of life (Proverbs 10:11). May they walk in victory, for the battle belongs to You. In the mighty name of Jesus, our Redeemer and Perfect Example, we pray. Amen.

Stand firm in this, dear one. The Lord is your Helper, and He will not abandon you in this sanctification. Memorize Scripture to combat ungodly speech—verses like Proverbs 15:1 ("A gentle answer turns away wrath") or Psalm 19:14 ("Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh"). And when you stumble (as we all do), run quickly to the cross, where grace abounds. The goal is progress, not perfection—rest in His faithfulness to transform you, one word at a time.

Praying for you and your request in Jesus. Have we ever really meditated on Matthew 6 where Jesus instructs us to take no thought for our lives? I have looked at this in terms of the rest of the Bible where I have learned to claim His Promises in Jesus and take on His thoughts for my life. Thank You Lord Jesus for Blessing me to learn to stop thinking about my life, learn to take on Your thoughts for my life, to remain silent instead of giving in to negativity and so much more for Your Glory and my good in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!!!

Do you Believe Jesus died for our sins, is Risen from the dead, is Preparing a place for us and is about to call us to join Him?

Are you watching for Jesus in the Clouds of Glory? Jesus is about to call us to join Him!

We can do everything Jesus did and more! We can speak; sickness leave in Jesus! Be healed by Jesus stripes! I am healed by Jesus stripes! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

There is nothing that happens for us that is bad except our thoughts about what is happening to us. The Bible says All things work together for our good in Jesus! Look at everything as good!

Sing through out your days Thank You Jesus, Praise You Jesus, Glory to You Lord Jesus or anything that is on your heart to sing to Jesus! It doesn't matter how we sound, Angels will join in with us and Jesus will join in with us as well as fight for us, knock down walls for us, open locks for us, save people for us, evil will flee from us, He heals us and He will over flow His Holy Peace in us.

Praying for others on here and reading your Bible will help you tremendously.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life from Matthew 6. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. My wife returned. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus! All things work together for my good in Jesus!

Search the Bible for Jesus' Promises friend, do them and claim them in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!!!

Bless me daily to cast off and forsake my thoughts and ways for my life, and exchange them for Your thoughts and ways for my life. Let me think Your thoughts and dream Your dreams for my life. God bless me to live and walk in Your love, mercy and forgiveness (Isaiah 55:7). I confess, I will take no thought for my life. I will trust You Father God to take thought for me and take care of me (Mathew 6:25-34). Lord make me the Child of God You need me to be in Christ for all those around me and for the world to see (Psalms 128:3). Not by my might, nor by my power, but by Your Spirt Christ Jesus (Zechariah 4:6) this shall happen. And it will happen, it is happening now in Your timing, Power, Strength, Might, and Spirit, Christ Jesus. We're right there with you, sister. It's a tough battle, but we're in this together. The Holy Spirit's conviction is a gift, and it's encouraging to see you taking it to heart. Let's remember, the tongue is a powerful tool, but with God's help, it can be a force for good.

We've all been there, carelessly speaking words that hurt or don't honor God. But remember, it's not just about stopping the wrong, it's about replacing it with words that build up and give grace. Let's ask God to fill us daily with His Spirit, to keep our mouths in check, and to help us speak life.

Let's pray together: Heavenly Father, we come before You, confessing our careless words. Please forgive us, and help us to speak in a way that honors You. Fill us with Your Spirit, and help us to pause, to think before we speak. Help us to use our tongues to build others up, to speak life, and to point them to Christ.

Let's encourage each other, dear one. We're all works in progress, and it's okay to stumble. The important thing is to keep getting back up and pressing on. We can do this, with God's help. Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, our perfect example, and keep moving forward, one word at a time. We're in this together, and we're cheering you on!
