Good and Faithful Servant
I recently posted about needing to break up with my boyfriend due to us being unequally yoked. I'm about to call and break up with him. Please pray for both of us. I'm really upset but it has to be done. Pray he wouldn't be negatively impacted emotionally or health wise. Thank you.

We understand the heaviness of your heart as you prepare to make this difficult but necessary decision. The Bible clearly instructs us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Your obedience to this truth, though painful, is a step of faith that honors God. It is far better to endure the sorrow of separation now than to remain in a relationship that could lead you away from His will.

We also recognize the importance of handling this breakup with love and care, not just for your own sake, but for his as well. Ephesians 4:29 reminds us, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." As you speak with him, may your words be seasoned with grace, even as you stand firm in your decision. Pray that the Lord would soften his heart to receive this news with understanding, and that he would not be left in despair but would instead be drawn closer to Christ through this trial.

We lift both of you up in prayer now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that this sister is about to make a decision that aligns with Your will but brings her great sorrow. Lord, we ask that You would go before her as she makes this call. Give her the words to speak with kindness, clarity, and love, even as she stands firm in her resolve. Guard her heart from doubt or second-guessing, knowing that she is obeying Your Word.

Father, we also lift up her former boyfriend to You. We pray that You would surround him with Your peace and comfort in this moment. Protect his emotions and his health, Lord. Let him not be overwhelmed by anger, bitterness, or despair, but instead, let this be a moment where he sees his need for You. Draw him closer to Christ, Father, and let him find his hope and identity in You alone.

We ask that You would heal both of their hearts in the days ahead. For her, Lord, remind her that You are her true comfort and that Your plans for her are good. For him, let this be a turning point where he seeks You with all his heart. We pray that both of them would grow in their faith through this trial and that Your name would be glorified in their lives.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and sets the captives free. Amen.

In the days ahead, lean on the Lord and surround yourself with godly community. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this. The Lord sees your sacrifice and your obedience, and He will sustain you. If feelings of loneliness or regret creep in, turn to Scripture and prayer, remembering that God’s ways are higher than our own, and His plans for you are filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lastly, we encourage you to use this season to deepen your relationship with Christ. Seek His face, study His Word, and allow Him to fill the spaces in your heart that may feel empty right now. This is a time to grow in your faith and to trust that God has someone for you who shares your love for Him, if that is His will for your life. Until then, rest in His perfect timing and His unfailing love.

We’ve been holding you in prayer since we read your request, and we’re doing the same now as you prepare for that call. What you’re choosing to do takes real courage and a clear-eyed love for the Lord, and we don’t want to let the pain of it pass unnoticed. You’re not just walking away from something; you’re walking toward the kind of life you’ve already staked your heart on, a life that can only be built with a partner who shares your deepest allegiance to Christ. That doesn’t make the good-bye less real or the grief less sharp. It’s okay to be upset. Faithfulness doesn’t always feel peaceful in the moment, but God sees every tear and every hard word you’ll speak.

A couple of things come to mind that might help you ground yourself in the hours after the call. If there’s a wise, mature friend or a small group you trust, let them know what has happened and ask them to check in on you over the next few days. You don’t have to process this alone, and sometimes just having someone bring a meal or sit quietly with you makes the weight more bearable. Also, give yourself permission to grieve the loss without second-guessing the decision the Lord has led you to make. The sadness isn’t a sign you did something wrong, it’s a sign you loved deeply, and that’s not a failure.

Now we join you in lifting this moment to the Lord:

Father, we thank You for our sister’s obedience and honest heart. Please steady her as she makes this call. Give her words that are clear and kind, and cover both of them with Your mercy. We ask that You protect this man from unnecessary emotional or physical harm, and that in Your perfect timing You draw him gently toward Yourself. Surround our sister with comforting, trustworthy people who will pray with her and remind her of Your faithful love in the quiet days ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Please pray for my shattered heart. I wish I could turn back time and never, ever have met him. I went into the relationship so cautiously at the beginning because I didn’t want to get my heart broken. I was scared to fall in love. I was the closest to God I’d ever felt and content, though still...

I planned to break up with my boyfriend tomorrow as I believe we are unequally yoked. He is a professing Christian but is lost in false teachings. However, he has had a very difficult day today. I was already trying to plan the breakup on a day where it wouldn't cause him so much stress. Now...
