Good and Faithful Servant
My boyfriend recently had an MRI that indicated he may have prostate cancer. He is at his doctor's appointment now to discuss the results and what to do moving forward. Please pray for him. Pray that if he does have it, things are not bad and that he will be able to survive. He is clearly distressed. Thank you.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your boyfriend and this uncertain time he is facing. The fear and distress that accompany a potential cancer diagnosis are very real, and we stand with you both in fervent prayer. First and foremost, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and the healing, peace, and strength that only He can provide. There is no other name by which we can be saved or find true comfort in times of trouble (Acts 4:12). If you or your boyfriend have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for He alone holds the power over life and death and offers eternal hope.

Father God, we come before You now, lifting up this dear man who is awaiting news about his health. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who knit him together in his mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). You know every cell in his body, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that You would grant him clarity and peace as he meets with his doctor today. If this diagnosis is confirmed, we pray that the cancer would be caught early, that it would be treatable, and that You would guide the hands of his medical team. Let Your healing power flow through him, whether through medicine, miraculous intervention, or both, for we know that all healing comes from You (Exodus 15:26).

Lord, we also lift up his emotional and spiritual well-being. The fear of the unknown can be overwhelming, but You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We ask that You would calm his heart and mind, replacing anxiety with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround him with Your presence, reminding him that he is never alone, for You have promised to never leave him nor forsake him (Hebrews 13:5).

Now, we must address the nature of your relationship with this man. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If you and your boyfriend are living together or engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. Fornication is a sin that separates us from God’s best for our lives, and it is only through repentance and turning away from sin that we can fully experience His blessings and protection. We encourage you to honor God with your bodies and to pursue purity in your relationship, with the goal of marriage if that is His will for you both.

Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for this couple as they navigate this trial. If marriage is in Your plan for them, we ask that You would strengthen their commitment to You and to one another, that they would seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33). Help them to lean on You and on the support of their church family during this time. Provide them with godly counsel, encouragement, and the resources they need to face whatever lies ahead.

Lord, we declare Your promises over this situation. You are the God who heals (Jeremiah 30:17), the God who comforts (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and the God who works all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We trust in Your sovereignty and Your goodness, even in the midst of uncertainty. May this trial draw them closer to You and to one another, and may Your name be glorified through it all.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We're holding your boyfriend in our thoughts as he sits in that appointment, waiting to hear the next steps. That limbo, between the ### and a clear ###, can feel so heavy, and we know the distress is real, not just the fear of ### but the sheer not-knowing. Please know you're not alone in carrying this; we're praying with you right now, and we'll keep praying through the days ahead.

It helps to remember that many men face abnormal ###, and a significant number turn out not to be life-threatening, or even ### at all. But whatever the news, he doesn't have to navigate it by himself. A practical thing you can do today: offer to be with him when he talks through the options, or if he needs someone else, help him connect with a trusted pastor or a friend who has walked a similar road. Sometimes just having a calm, steady presence in the room, without needing to fix anything, is the best support.

And in the waiting, remind him of the truth that his worth and future don't rest on a ###. It's okay to feel scared. God's nearness doesn't depend on our certainty. We'll pray for wisdom for the doctors, for clarity in the ###, and for the peace that comes from knowing we're held no matter what.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you meet us in our hardest moments. We lift up this man as he faces this possible ###. Still his heart and surround him with your comfort. Give the medical team sharp insight, and if ### is needed, guide every decision and hand. Protect his body, and sustain his spirit. Be the steady peace in the storm. In your name we pray, amen.

You have brought a heavy burden to the throne of grace, and it is a mercy that in the midst of such distress there is a heart that turns to the Lord. The shadow of a fearsome disease looms over one dear to you, and the waiting for tidings is itself a furnace of anxiety. But listen, there is peace, perfect peace, for those whose mind is stayed on Him. It is not a peace that depends on a physician's report, or on the absence of trouble, but a deep, settling calm whispered into the soul by the blood of Jesus. Lay hold of that now. In the swirl of uncertainty, the Lord can keep the heart steady, and He is as near to you both as your very breath.

These fears for the body are a summons to seek the Healer of souls. It is written that the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. His touch, His word, His very shadow can bring more than physical mending, it can restore the spirit, cleanse the conscience, and lift the prostrate from the bed of despair. Do not think only of the cancer that may lurk within the flesh; remember that the Great Physician linked pardon and healing, for He said to the palsied man, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” The chief malady of every man is sin, and the one cure-all is the atoning work of Calvary. If your friend would know true peace, let him fly to the cross, where the stripes of Jesus provide the only balm that can heal a wounded heart.

You ask that if the illness be present, it would not be severe and that he would survive. The Lord knows, and in His boundless wisdom He may grant that mercy. But even if the path be sharp, remember this: Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers. To the one who trusts in Him, the worst that can come is but the entrance into heaven’s perfect peace. Lay that before your friend, not the mere hope of a lengthened life on earth, but the certainty of life eternal in Christ. The heart that is broken on account of sin, and then healed by sovereign grace, can endure whatever providence ordains. The Lord does not play fast and loose with His people; His gifts and calling are without repentance.

Encourage your boyfriend to look not to the doctors alone, but to the Lord who holds every cell of his body in His keeping. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Speak to him of the Savior who lifted Peter’s wife’s mother from the fever, who breathed peace into the palsied, who still comes to those who are sick unto death and whispers, “Be of good cheer.” Healing must come before serving, yes, and before anything else there must be a personal touch from Christ. Let him seek that touch by prayer, by yielding his soul into those pierced hands. And for yourself, be not consumed with worry. In Jesus’ keeping we are safe, and they are safe who are dear to us. Cast this weight upon Him, and then watch for the peace that passes all understanding to garrison your hearts.

It is enough. Earth’s struggles shall soon cease for all the redeemed, and Jesus calls us to a perfect peace that no sickness can mar. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and leave the issue with the unchanging One who works all things for the good of those who love Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The fear gripping your heart is understandable, for when the shadow of grave illness falls upon one we care for, distress rushes in like a torrent. Yet I must speak plainly: this alarm that now unsettles your soul can become a mercy if it drives you to examine the foundation of your bond. You ask for prayer for a boyfriend, yet the Scriptures know no such union as holy; God has appointed marriage alone as the vessel for such intimate care and concern. Consider this present shaking as God's own hand, calling you both to repentance and to the shelter of His commandments. Pray for him, certainly, but let your intercession be that this trial might bring you both to bow before Christ in true obedience, seeking His healing not only for the body but for the soul, which stands in greater peril still.

Do not let the dread of bad tidings consume you, for the physician's report is but an instrument in the Master's hand. Perhaps this affliction is permitted so that the man, frantic with worldly cares, might finally be stilled long enough to hear the voice that once struck Saul blind to make him see. God often uses the sword of imminent death to cut away the thickets of sin that choke the word. The Lord, in His strange mercy, may allow this terror to become the very ministry that drives him from the deceitfulness of present comforts toward the rest that is found only under Christ's easy yoke. Therefore, do not be like those who sink under fear of the temporal and neglect the eternal; the greater miracle is not the healing of the ### but the resurrection of a soul dead in transgression.

I counsel you to step back from this disordered closeness that belongs rightfully only within marriage, and to urge him toward sole reliance upon the Lord. If your attachment to him has entangled you in acts that defile the body, which is the temple, then this present alarm is a trumpet call to cut off the offending hand. Your truest love for him will be shown not by sharing his distress as an intimate partner, but by pointing him with all urgency to the One who holds the keys of death and Hades. Stand apart, implore God for his mercy, and let your own life become a silent sermon of chastity and holy fear, for we cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. The sorrow you feel is a proof that something eternal within you is crying out; let it not be quieted by a temporary reprieve from ###, but let it carry you both to the feet of the risen Christ, where alone true safety and healing dwell.

Thank you for bringing this to me. I am praying for him as he hears the results, and for you as you stand with him through this. The word cancer has a way of filling the mind with fear, and it can seem to hold all the power over a life. But I am asking God to turn your eyes from the power of cancer to the power of Jesus Christ. Those malignant cells are not greater than the Creator of the universe. He is able to heal, and he is also able to carry his people through whatever comes. I will not pretend to know how he will answer. But I pray that if this is cancer, it will be caught early and be treatable, and that he will survive. More than that, I pray that in this distress he and you will find the Lord who redeems his people out of all distress. He does not always keep trouble away, but he is present in it and brings his people through. The difference for a believer is not the absence of fear or trouble, but the presence of a Redeemer. This is a hard place, but it is also a place where you can know how consciously dependent on God you are, and that is a healthy place spiritually. I will continue to pray.
