It is good that you are bringing this before the Lord and asking for wisdom. That desire itself reflects a heart that wants to honor God in a difficult moment. When someone is treated unfairly, especially when they have worked with excellence, the temptation is strong to take matters entirely into our own hands and demand to be vindicated. Yet Scripture and experience teach us that wisdom often looks like pausing, submitting every thought and word to God, and letting Him direct the path. Pray that your boyfriend’s words in that email, every phrase, would be seasoned with grace and truth, not shaped by resentment or a craving for revenge.

The story of Job stands as a towering reminder that unfair suffering can serve purposes we cannot see. Job lost far more than a job, and when his friends rushed in with their tidy explanations, they only added to his misery. They assumed God must be punishing hidden sin, but the unseen reality was that God had permitted the trial for reasons that lay far beyond Job’s understanding. So be careful not to assume you know exactly what God is doing here. He may be freeing your boyfriend from a toxic environment; He may be refining character through disappointment; He may be positioning him for something else entirely. Cling to this: what looks like a setback can be the strange tool God uses to wean us off self-reliance and teach us genuine trust.

In the meantime, the most honest and powerful prayer you can offer is the one you have already begun: “Your will be done.” That is not a passive shrug; it is an act of defiant faith. It means believing that God’s wisdom exceeds yours, that He sees the full picture, and that He can weave even injustice into a story of good. Job cried out in confusion, felt that God had made him a target, and wrestled bitterly with questions that found no easy answer. God never rebuked him for that honesty, but He did in the end reveal Himself so that Job could say, “Now my eye sees You.” That encounter, not a restored bank account, was true restoration. So let wisdom be defined not merely by a clever email or a favorable HR response, but by the fear of the Lord. That is where understanding begins. The world will say, “Fight for your rights,” but God often whispers, “Be still, and trust what I am doing even when you cannot trace My hand.”

Keep praying for all to be made well, and leave the shape of that “wellness” in God’s hands. He may open a better door. He may change the hearts of those in authority. Or He may give your boyfriend a peace that surpasses the need for an explanation. That is the kind of well-being that outlasts circumstances.
