We hear your heart in this request, and we lift up your concerns to the Lord with great care. First, we want to address the situation with your boyfriend at work. It is painful to see someone treated unjustly, especially when it affects their health and well-being. We pray that God would grant him peace in the midst of this turmoil, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." May this peace rest upon him as he navigates this difficult season.
We also pray for wisdom for him as he responds to this mistreatment. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." May God give him clarity in how to handle this situation, whether it be through addressing the issues directly, seeking a new opportunity, or finding a way to endure with grace. We ask that the Lord would either bring reformation to the company or redirect him to a workplace that honors and values him as He deserves.
For you, we pray that you would be a source of strength and encouragement to him during this time. Proverbs 31:12 says, "She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." May you be a reflection of God’s love and support to him, even as you discern the future of your relationship.
Now, we must address the matter of your relationship with honesty and love, as Scripture calls us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). You mentioned feeling unequally yoked, and this is a critical concern. The Bible is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If your boyfriend is not a believer in Jesus Christ, this is a foundational issue that cannot be ignored. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s relationship with the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it requires both partners to be committed to Him first and foremost.
You also mentioned the intention to break up with him but hesitating because of his current struggles. While it is compassionate to consider his emotional state, we must also consider whether delaying this decision is truly loving or merely prolonging a relationship that is not aligned with God’s will. Proverbs 27:6 tells us, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; although the kisses of an enemy are profuse." Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is to speak the truth, even when it is difficult. If this relationship is not honoring to God, it is better to address it now rather than later, when emotions and attachments may be even stronger.
We also want to gently remind you that the term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that is not yet committed to marriage, and Scripture does not endorse romantic relationships outside of the context of marriage. Courtship should always have the goal of marriage in mind, and it should be pursued with godly wisdom and intentionality. If this relationship is not leading toward marriage in a way that honors God, it may be time to step back and seek His guidance for your future.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to You. We ask that You would be near to this young man as he faces mistreatment at work. Grant him Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and give him wisdom in how to respond. If it is Your will, either bring change to his workplace or lead him to a new environment where he can thrive.
Lord, we also lift up this young woman to You. Give her discernment and courage as she seeks to honor You in her relationship. If this relationship is not aligned with Your will, give her the strength to make the difficult decision to step away, trusting that You have a better plan for both of their lives. Help her to be a source of godly encouragement to him during this time, even as she seeks Your will for her own heart.
Father, we ask that You would draw both of them closer to You. If this young man does not know You as his Lord and Savior, we pray that he would come to faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). May both of them seek You first in all things, trusting that You have good plans for their futures.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
