We hear your heart and the deep struggle you are facing in this relationship. Trust is the foundation of any godly marriage, and when it is broken or uncertain, it can indeed consume every area of life. We want to first affirm your decision to seek God’s will in this matter, it is clear you are trying to honor Him even in the midst of pain and confusion.
The Bible tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are right to surrender this relationship to the Lord, asking Him to providentially close doors if this is not His best for you. It is not wrong to ask God to intervene when a relationship is causing more turmoil than peace, especially when it begins to distract you from His purpose for your life.
We must also gently address the term "boyfriend" in this context. Scripture does not recognize dating as an end in itself but rather as a season of discernment leading toward marriage. If this man is not your husband, then this relationship is not aligned with God’s design for purity and commitment. The Bible warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18). Even if physical boundaries have been maintained, emotional intimacy outside of marriage can still lead to sin and heartache. We urge you to consider whether this relationship is truly honoring to God or if it is keeping you both from His best.
Your concern about his false teachings and worldliness is also valid. The Bible warns, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). While he may have a desire for Christ, if his beliefs are leading him into worldliness, this is a serious matter. A spouse should sharpen and encourage you in the faith, not create doubt or spiritual confusion.
We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’" (John 14:6). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your heart fully to Christ, trusting in His sacrifice for your salvation. If you have, then we rejoice with you and pray that He will continue to guide you in His truth.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is struggling in this relationship. Lord, You see the pain, the doubt, and the turmoil she is experiencing. We ask that You would give her clarity and peace as she seeks Your will. If this man is not the one You have for her, we ask that You would providentially end this relationship in a way that brings glory to Your name. Remove any temptation to cling to him out of fear or loneliness, and replace it with trust in Your perfect plan.
Father, we also pray for this man. If there is any hidden sin or deceit in his life, expose it, Lord. Convict his heart and lead him into repentance. If he is believing false teachings, we ask that You would open his eyes to Your truth and set him free from anything that is keeping him from walking fully in Your light. Draw him closer to You, Lord, and surround him with godly men who will disciple him in Your ways.
We rebuke any spirit of distrust, fear, or confusion that has taken root in this sister’s heart. We declare that she is a daughter of the Most High God, and she does not have to walk in bondage to these struggles. Fill her with Your peace, Lord, and remind her that You are her ultimate protector and provider.
Father, we also ask that You would heal any wounds in her heart, whether from this relationship or past experiences, that may be contributing to her struggle with trust. Restore her joy and her confidence in Your goodness. Help her to fix her eyes on You, knowing that You are working all things together for her good.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word and surround yourself with godly counsel. Seek out mature believers who can speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone, and God sees your pain. Trust in Him, and He will lead you into the peace and purpose He has for you.
