Good and Faithful Servant
I recently posted this: "Please pray for me about my boyfriend. I love him so much but I'm struggling to trust him for various reasons. He's a very honest person but I'm struggling. Please pray for me about all this, that if there's anything wrong being done by him that God would expose it and handle it and allow him to come clean about it. Please also pray for his being set free from false teachings because he has a genuine desire for Christ but is believing in some wrong things which adds to my distrust because there is some worldliness in his life likely due to these wrong beliefs." and then I posted, "I decided today that as much as I love him, my struggles with not trusting him are just too much - and even consuming other areas of my life. I decided to ask God to providentially end this relationship. I can't do it myself and break his heart especially when he's so lonely (or at least that's what he has told me about his life recently before we started dating). Please pray God will somehow end it soon. I can't bear being hurt or embarrassed by this man. All day long as I have wrestled with this, I feel that every time I make the decision to just ask God to remove him, he suddenly pops up messaging me or saying/doing something sweet but I just CAN'T do this." I then posted, "Well, while I was sleeping, a surge of courage to break up with him rose up in me and I will be doing so the day after tomorrow (when he is off work and hopefully won't have too many things on his schedule; this way, if he is deeply affected by the breakup, it won't affect him working although he will work the next day so please pray for him about that). Please pray for me about all this." I just want to add that what triggered me really wanting to end things with him was his interaction at work with a female coworker of ours (we work together) that I have struggled a lot to feel comfortable with him interacting with for a number of reasons. He said something to me yesterday that indicated that he was communicating with this person privately apart from our interactions with our coworkers as a group. While I could be wrong that he is doing this, the level of turmoil that rose up in me at the thought and possibility became too much. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer as you navigate this painful and difficult season. The struggle you describe, between love and distrust, between hope and fear, is a heavy burden to carry, and we grieve with you over the turmoil it has brought into your life. It is clear that this relationship has not brought you peace, and your decision to seek the Lord’s guidance in ending it is a courageous step toward honoring Him and protecting your own heart.

First, we must address the foundation of this relationship. Scripture is clear that believers are called to marry only those who share their faith in Christ, for "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). While you mention your boyfriend has a desire for Christ, his adherence to false teachings and worldliness raises serious concerns. A relationship built on anything less than a shared commitment to biblical truth will always struggle under the weight of division. We pray that the Lord would open his eyes to the truth of His Word and draw him into a deeper, purer relationship with Himself.

Your struggle with trust is not insignificant, and the Lord sees the pain it has caused you. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." The fact that this relationship has consumed so much of your emotional energy is a sign that it is not aligned with God’s best for you. We praise God for the surge of courage He placed in your heart to end this, even as we recognize how difficult it will be. Breaking someone’s heart is never easy, but it is far better than continuing in a relationship that brings turmoil and distrust.

We must also address the specific concern you raised about his interactions with this female coworker. Scripture warns us repeatedly about the dangers of emotional and physical infidelity. Proverbs 6:32-33 says, "He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself. He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away." While you do not know for certain what is happening, the fact that this situation has caused you such distress is a red flag that cannot be ignored. A godly man who loves you as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25) would not put you in a position where you feel threatened or insecure. His actions, whether intentional or not, have sown seeds of doubt and pain in your heart, and that is not the fruit of a relationship rooted in Christ.

We also want to gently but firmly address the fact that this relationship has been one of boyfriend and girlfriend, rather than a courtship with the goal of marriage. Scripture does not recognize the modern concept of "dating" as we know it today. Instead, believers are called to pursue relationships with the intention of marriage, and to do so in a way that honors God and protects both parties from emotional and physical temptation. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 says, "For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God." If this relationship has involved any physical intimacy outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek the Lord’s forgiveness. He is faithful to cleanse and restore you (1 John 1:9).

Now, we lift you up in prayer, asking the Lord to strengthen you as you prepare to end this relationship. We pray that He would give you the words to speak with kindness and clarity, and that He would soften your boyfriend’s heart to receive them without bitterness. We ask that the Lord would guard your heart from guilt or second-guessing, knowing that you are making this decision out of obedience to Him. We pray that He would heal the wounds this relationship has left in your heart and restore your trust in His perfect plan for your life.

Father God, we come before You on behalf of this dear sister, lifting up her heart and her circumstances to You. Lord, You see the pain and turmoil she has endured in this relationship, and we ask that You would bring healing and peace to her soul. Give her the strength to follow through with ending this relationship, and surround her with Your love and comfort in the days ahead. We pray for her boyfriend, that You would open his eyes to the truth of Your Word and draw him into a deeper relationship with You. Expose any areas of his life that are not aligned with Your will, and bring conviction where it is needed. Lord, we ask that You would protect this sister from any further hurt or embarrassment, and that You would guide her steps as she seeks Your will for her future. Help her to trust in You completely, knowing that You have a plan for her life that is good and perfect. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

As you move forward, sister, cling to the promises of God. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." The Lord has not abandoned you in this season. He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28), even when the path ahead feels uncertain. Surround yourself with godly friends and mentors who can speak truth into your life and encourage you in your walk with Christ. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, allowing Him to fill the spaces in your heart that this relationship has left empty.

We also encourage you to seek wisdom from your local church community. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Share your struggles with trusted believers who can pray with you and offer biblical guidance. The enemy would love to isolate you in this season, but the Lord calls us to walk in community with one another.

Finally, we want to remind you that your worth is not found in this relationship or in any man. Your worth is found in Christ alone, who loved you so much that He gave His life for you (John 3:16). You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and the Lord has a plan for your life that is greater than anything you could imagine. Trust in Him, and He will lead you into the future He has prepared for you.

We’ve been sitting with your words, and we can feel how heavy this has been, the sleeplessness, the confusion, the courage that rose up in the night. You made a choice to honor what you knew you couldn’t carry any longer, and that takes real strength.

When your heart was in such turmoil, it’s easy to second-guess everything. But sometimes that intense, consuming unrest isn’t just anxiety; it can be your whole being warning you that something isn’t right for you, even if a part of you still loves him. You’ve been wrestling alone, and we’re glad you’ve reached a place where you can act.

As you move toward that conversation the day after tomorrow, be gentle with yourself. It makes sense to be afraid of how he’ll respond or of the pain you might cause, that’s compassion, not weakness. Consider letting a trusted friend or mentor know when you’re going to speak with him, just so you have someone nearby to pray you through and to be with you afterward, even if it’s just a phone call. That kind of practical support can help you stay steady and feel less alone.

We join you in asking God to go before you and to cover this situation with His presence.

Lord Jesus, we lift up our sister to You right now. Thank You for the clarity that broke through her fear. Give her calm and loving words when she speaks with her boyfriend. Protect his heart as well as hers; don’t let this become more painful than it needs to be. We ask You to untangle what needs to be untangled and to shield her from unnecessary embarrassment or doubt. Help her to walk forward without looking back, trusting that You see every part of this. In Your name, amen.

The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and in this hour your spirit is tossed like the waves of the sea. Yet look well to your anchor. You have felt a surge of courage to break off this bond, and I would not quench what the Lord may be kindling in your conscience. A relationship built upon the shifting sands of constant suspicion, private communications that stir such turmoil, and a foundation of false teaching is a house that cannot stand. The unease that consumes your days and distracts your soul from higher things is itself a merciful warning. It is better to enter into the peace of a single life than to dwell in a continual fever of distrust, for mistrust in such near bonds is a canker that eats out all rest.

Yet I implore you, in the midst of this great upheaval, see to it that you do not merely transfer your trust from this man to your own resolve. The sharpest lesson of the tempest is this: that we should not trust in ourselves. To rip out the weed of misplaced confidence in him only to plant the poisonous stalk of self-reliance is no cure. You say you cannot break his heart, you fear his loneliness, and you tremble at the pain of it. But have you trusted yourself with this matter? Your own feelings have been a poor guide, rising and falling like a wind-tossed weathercock. One moment you are resolved, the next a sweet message unmans you. This is the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead. Trust your merciful God to handle what you cannot. Trust Him for the courage to speak the truth. Trust Him for the grace for this man’s soul after you have spoken. The living God is a thinking God, an active God, who comes into the midst of our tangled affairs. He alone doeth great wonders, even the wonder of bringing clean ends to muddled beginnings.

You are tempted to make an idol of your feelings, demanding a blaze of joy as a sign. But you are to trust Him for the very peace you lack. Flee from your own carnal reasoning, for to lean on your own understanding is to provoke the Lord to jealousy. Lay hold of Him by faith. That sharp pang, that fear of his sorrow, cast it upon the Breaker who has gone up before you. Jesus broke the head of leviathan; He can surely break this unholy tie and bear the fragments tenderly. The way of prudence and purity is the King’s Highway. Walk in it, not with rashness, but in uprightness, relying not on the boldness of a moment’s surge, but on the Eternal One. As you act, do not trust even a good intention in your own heart without leaning on Him. Go, not in the strength of a decision made in the night watches, but in constant prayer that the Lord will speak through you and overrule all. He will bear you through, and what seems now a wound will be seen in time as the merciful incision of the Great Physician.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The turmoil within you is not without cause, for when the spirit is troubled over hidden things, it often senses what the eyes have not seen. You struggle to trust because trust has been wounded, and the wound is not without reason. Do not dismiss this as mere fear; the righteous soul is a discerner, and when peace departs, something is amiss. You spoke of false teachings in him and worldliness flowing from them. How can two walk together unless they be agreed? If the foundation is crooked, the whole building leans. A genuine desire for Christ is precious, but if error clings to him, it will pull him, and you with him, into many snares. You have done well to seek God's will, and the courage that surged in you is not from yourself; it is a gift to be acted upon, not buried in hesitation.

Boldness in such a matter is not audacity, but the courage that pleases God, who is not the author of confusion but of peace. The enemy would have you delay, to wear down your resolve with sweet words that may cover hidden things. For was it not with a kiss that the traitor betrayed the Lord? Even honest-seeming men can harbor duplicity when the love of the world or the praise of men holds their heart. You have asked that God would expose what is wrong. He often does so not by dragging it into the light, but by giving you the wisdom to depart before the full shame appears. Do not wait for some great revelation; the ongoing disquiet and the private communications with that woman are enough. Why should your soul be consumed because of another's deeds? It is better to cut off the hand that offends than to let the whole body be cast into fire.

Do not fear breaking his heart more than you fear offending God by remaining where your spirit cannot thrive. Loneliness is a hard teacher, but God is the physician of the lonely, and He will deal with him. Your first duty is to guard your own soul, which has been bought with a price. Go forward with the decision you made in the night. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Pray for him, yes, but from a distance, that he may be delivered from false teachings and find the truth in Christ alone. And trust the Lord, who ordereth all things well. He will not leave you desolate. The day after tomorrow, do what you have purposed, with meekness but with firmness, and then commit the outcome entirely to God. The path of faith is often steep, but there is no safety in lingering on the precipice.
