Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about ###. I love him so much but I'm struggling to trust him for various reasons. He's a very honest person but I'm struggling. Please pray for me about all this, that if there's anything wrong being done by him that God would expose it and handle it and allow him to come clean about it. Please also pray for his being set free from false teachings because he has a genuine desire for Christ but is believing in some wrong things which adds to my distrust because there is some worldliness in his life likely due to these wrong beliefs. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we lift you up before the Lord with great compassion. Trust is a foundational element in any relationship, especially one that is intended to honor God. The struggle you’re facing is not insignificant, and we want to address it with both truth and grace.

First, we must gently but firmly address the nature of your relationship. The Bible is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is not God’s design. The term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that is not yet under the covenant of marriage, and if there is any physical intimacy or emotional entanglement that does not align with God’s standards, we must call it what it is: fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18). We encourage you to examine whether this relationship is being pursued in a way that honors God’s design for purity and commitment. If marriage is the goal, then let it be pursued with intentionality, wisdom, and a clear commitment to biblical principles. If it is not moving toward marriage, then we must ask whether this relationship is drawing you closer to Christ or creating stumbling blocks in your walk with Him.

Now, regarding your concerns about trust and his beliefs, we turn to Scripture for guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It is good and right to seek discernment, but we must also surrender our fears and suspicions to God, asking Him to reveal the truth in His time and in His way. If there is deception or ungodly behavior in your boyfriend’s life, the Lord is faithful to expose it (Luke 8:17). However, we must also guard our own hearts against assuming the worst without clear evidence, as love "believes all things, hopes all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7).

Your concern about false teachings in his life is valid. The Bible warns us repeatedly about the dangers of being led astray by deceptive doctrines (Ephesians 4:14, Colossians 2:8). We must pray fervently that the Lord would open his eyes to the truth and give him a hunger for sound biblical teaching. False beliefs can indeed lead to worldliness, and worldliness can create barriers in a relationship that is meant to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:25-33). We encourage you to gently and lovingly share your concerns with him, pointing him to Scripture and praying that the Holy Spirit would convict and guide him.

Let us also address the importance of salvation and the name of Jesus. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If your boyfriend has not placed his faith fully in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, then the foundation of his life, and any relationship built upon it, will be shaky. We must pray that he would not only desire Christ but fully surrender to Him, repenting of any sin and embracing the truth of the Gospel.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her concerns. Lord, we ask that You would give her wisdom and discernment as she navigates this relationship. If there is any deception, ungodliness, or worldliness in her boyfriend’s life, we ask that You would expose it, Lord, and bring it into the light. Give him a spirit of repentance and a hunger for Your truth. Father, we pray that You would set him free from any false teachings that are leading him astray. Open his eyes to Your Word and fill him with the knowledge of Your will.

Lord, we also ask that You would guard this sister’s heart. Help her to trust in You fully, even when she struggles to trust others. Give her peace and clarity, and help her to walk in purity and holiness, whether this relationship is part of Your plan for her or not. If this relationship is not honoring to You, we ask that You would make that clear and give her the strength to walk away. If it is Your will for them to be together, we pray that You would knit their hearts together in a way that glorifies You, with a shared commitment to Christ and His Word.

Father, we also lift up the salvation of this young man. If he has not fully surrendered his life to You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself, that he would repent of his sins and place his faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Let him know the power of Your love and the freedom that comes from walking in Your truth.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature believers in your life, perhaps a pastor or a trusted mentor who can help you navigate these concerns with wisdom. Surround yourself with people who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is faithful, and He will guide you every step of the way.

We understand how heavy it feels to love someone deeply yet wrestle with distrust, especially when part of that unease comes from watching him hold onto things that don’t line up with the truth you know. It’s draining to carry a low-grade alarm in your heart while still hoping for the best in him. We’re grateful you brought this here.

Sometimes when trust feels shaky, it can help to step back from the mental loop of suspicion and instead anchor yourself in what you do know: that God sees the whole situation, that He cares about both of you without compromise, and that He is not afraid of the questions you bring. You aren’t his savior, and you don’t have to police his beliefs, but you can keep asking the Lord to give you peace and clear-headedness while also honestly naming your worries. One practical thing that often helps is to write down the specific situations or behaviors that triggered your distrust, then pray through them one by one, surrendering each to God and asking Him to sort out what you can’t. That can quiet the background noise and help you respond with wisdom rather than fear.

When his wrong beliefs worry you, remember that God’s kindness leads to repentance; He can gently untangle what we can’t argue away. Your steady, quiet trust in God’s timing can speak louder than a hundred sermons.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, we bring you this woman’s heart, torn between love and suspicion. Quiet her fears with your perfect love that drives out anxiety. Give her eyes to see clearly, and if there is anything in her boyfriend’s life that needs to be exposed, we ask that you would bring it into the light with mercy and truth. Set him free from false teachings that pull him toward worldliness, and deepen his genuine desire for you. Grant her patience and wisdom, and let her find rest in your faithful care. In your name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The struggle you describe, loving yet finding it hard to trust, often springs from placing your ultimate reliance upon what is seen and felt, rather than anchoring first in the living God. When a soul says, "I cannot trust unless I feel this or see that," it sets up the circumstances as its god. You are not called to trust your boyfriend's honesty as your foundation; you are called to cast this entire burden upon the Lord who sees all hearts. If there is any hidden thing, it is far better that God Himself expose it in His own time and manner than that you should wear yourself out with suspicion. Trust your merciful God to handle what you cannot see. He is a thinking, active, working God who comes into the very midst of such tangles, and He is able to make the truth plain without your fretting.

Yet take heed: the deeper danger is not simply that his wrong beliefs may breed worldliness, but that your peace might come to depend upon his reformation rather than upon Christ alone. There is a clean path to hell as well as a dirty one, and many a soul has made an idol of a hoped-for change in another. You ask that false teaching be rooted out of him, that is a right prayer, but see to it that you do not trust a good man with your soul. Go, sleep in a powder magazine with your candle burning in a bag of gunpowder, but do not trust even the dearest human with what belongs only in the hands of the pierced Savior. Your safety lies in trusting Jesus with the whole matter: the hidden things, the wrong beliefs, the worldliness, and your own wavering heart.

That said, a genuine desire for Christ, even when mixed with error, is not to be despised. The Lord who commanded light to shine out of darkness can scatter the shadows. Pray, then, with expectation, but lean no weight of your own faith upon his clearing. If you trust Christ, you shall know His faithfulness. Trust Him as you feel yourself sinking in this relationship, and you shall swim. The immediate call is not to untangle every knot, but to hand the whole snarled thread to the One who was lifted up to draw all to Himself. Have done with the props of constant reassurance or full understanding; go as you are to the mercy seat and leave him there as well.

The turmoil you describe is an inward war, and such wars are often the most grievous. You love him, yet your heart is divided by distrust. This is not a small thing, for the Scripture warns that a man's enemies may be those of his own household, and the prophet admonishes us to beware even of the one who lies in our bosom when it comes to things of the soul. Your unease is not a flaw to be silenced, but a signal to be examined before God.

You pray that if there is any wrong, God would expose it and handle it. This is a right prayer, for the Lord has no need of our schemes to bring hidden things to light. Trust this to Him, and do not make yourself the detective. Yet consider also what is already visible. You speak of false teachings and worldliness. This is no small matter. A genuine desire for Christ is precious, but if it is fed with wrong beliefs, it is like a house built on sand. The Lord Himself, with all His power, did not force truth upon those who clung to their false boasting; He gently and by little drew them away, but He never called their error harmless. Love does not pretend a poison is food.

You struggle to trust him. Ask yourself: is your trust shaken by his character, or by your own fears? If it is his character, remember that freedom and bondage, and true spiritual kinship, depend on actions, not just words. If his beliefs permit worldliness, that is a fruit you can see. It is not your role to uproot his false teachings by argument, but neither are you to bind your heart to a course heading away from the firm foundation. The greater war is when the conflict is within the soul and the household. You are already lamenting this inward battle.

Your prayer asks for him to be set free from false teachings. This is a good and merciful petition. Continue it. Yet while you pray for his correction, examine your own. Do not let your affection become a chain pulling you from discernment. Lay this whole situation, this affection and this anxiety, into the hand of God. He is more trustworthy than the earth, and He alone can keep that which you commit to Him. If you would lend your heart, let it be to His keeping. Do not run to a peace that depends on ignoring what is unsound. Seek His truth first, and let the outcome be His to command.
