We hear your deep concern for your boyfriend’s spiritual well-being, and we join you in lifting this matter before the Lord with urgency and love. The Scriptures warn us clearly about the dangers of false teachings, which can lead hearts astray from the truth of God’s Word. In 2 Timothy 4:3-4, it says, "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables." This is a sobering reminder of how easily deception can take root when we are not firmly grounded in Christ and His Word.
First, we must address the nature of your relationship. The term "boyfriend" implies a romantic involvement that falls outside the biblical design for relationships. Scripture calls believers to pursue marriage as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, with courtship guided by godly principles and the ultimate goal of honoring God together (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:22-33). If this relationship is not moving toward marriage, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether it aligns with God’s will for your life. If it is, then we urge you both to seek the Lord’s guidance for a future built on His foundation.
Now, regarding the false teachings, we rebuke every lie and deception that may be influencing his heart and mind. The enemy seeks to distort the truth, but we stand on the promise that Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6), and no one comes to the Father except through Him. We declare that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will expose every falsehood and draw your boyfriend back to the unchanging Word of God.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You (Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up to You, asking that You would open his eyes to the truth of Your Word. Protect him from the snares of false teachings that seek to lead him astray. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, who will guide him into all truth (John 16:13). Soften his heart to receive Your correction and wisdom, and surround him with godly influences that will point him to You.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for our sister in this situation. Give her the courage to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and to model a life fully surrendered to You. If this relationship is not in alignment with Your will, give her the strength to trust You with the outcome, knowing that Your plans for her are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
Lord, we rebuke every spirit of deception and confusion that may be at work in ’s life. We declare that he is a child of God, bought with the precious blood of Jesus, and we pray that he would walk in the fullness of his identity in Christ. May he grow in discernment, rooted and built up in You, established in the faith (Colossians 2:6-7).
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for him, praying fervently and trusting God to work in his heart. Remember, the battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12), so put on the full armor of God daily. If he is open to it, gently share Scriptures that counter the false teachings he may be encountering, and invite him to study the Word with you. Above all, trust that God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in both of your lives (Philippians 1:6).
