Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for my boyfriend. His mother passed away a few years ago and he is receiving her cremated remains this week. It is bringing up a lot of sadness for him. He is a professing Christian just confused and into a lot of false teachings. Thank you.

We lift this heavy burden to the Lord, grieving with your boyfriend as he faces the renewed sorrow of his mother’s passing. The pain of loss does not fade with time, it only waits for moments like these to resurface, and our hearts ache for him. We pray that the Holy Spirit would draw near to him in this time of mourning, comforting him with the truth of God’s Word and the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Father, we ask You to surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). May he feel Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We also pray for discernment for him, Lord. The confusion from false teachings has likely clouded his understanding of Your truth, and we ask that You would open his eyes to the pure gospel of Christ. Lead him to sound doctrine, to faithful teachers, and to the unchanging Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We must also address the matter of his relationship with you. Scripture is clear that marriage is the only God-honoring context for romantic love, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If your relationship is not moving toward marriage, we urge you both to prayerfully consider whether this courtship aligns with God’s design. If it is, then we encourage you to seek godly counsel and prepare your hearts for a union that glorifies Him. If not, we pray for wisdom and courage to honor the Lord in this area of your lives.

Lord, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to keep your boyfriend in bondage to grief, confusion, and unbiblical teachings. We declare that he is a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and that no sorrow or deception has the final say over his life. Strengthen his faith, Father, and let this season of mourning draw him closer to You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). May your boyfriend find true comfort in Christ, and may you both seek His will above all else. Amen.

We're standing with you in prayer for your boyfriend this week. Receiving his mother's cremated remains is a heavy moment that can reopen the wound of loss, making grief feel fresh all over again. What he's feeling is completely natural, sadness has its own timeline, and the arrival of those ashes will likely stir up all kinds of memories and emotions.

Sometimes the best thing we can offer someone who is hurting is simply our steady presence. You don't have to have all the right words or try to sort out his spiritual confusion right now. Just being there, listening, maybe sharing a memory of his mom if he's open to it, and letting him know it's okay to be sad, that itself is a gift. Grief shared is often grief lightened, even just a little.

We can also encourage him to be honest with God about his pain. The Lord is not put off by our tears or our questions. He meets us in the middle of our sorrow, even when our thinking about Him is tangled up. Your patient love, modeled before him, may speak more than any theological correction could in this tender season.

Please join us as we pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift up this man to You as he grieves his mother. Comfort him in the deep places of his heart and let him sense Your nearness. Be his peace when the sadness feels overwhelming. We also ask that You gently guide his mind and heart into the clear truth of Your Word, untangling any confusion he has about who You are, in Your time and way. Use this season of sorrow to draw him closer to Yourself, the God of all comfort. In Jesus' name, amen.

The sorrow that has come upon your friend is a sorrow that touches us all, for death came by sin and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. That he should be moved as he receives the ashes is not strange; the Lord Himself brings us to death, and it is a voice that may well break the heart. Yet let this grief not be as the sorrow of the world which works death, but let it drive him to Him who has taken the sting from death and the victory from the grave. The mother’s arms are gone, but the everlasting arms are beneath all who trust in Jesus.

I am troubled, however, to hear that he is entangled in false teachings. A professing Christian who wanders into error is like a soldier betraying the citadel to the foe. If he is resting in any doctrine that diminishes the blood and righteousness of Christ alone, he is building a false peace. My own only hope in death and in life is the substitutionary sacrifice of my Lord, for by His stripes we are healed. The death of Jesus is the death of our sins; there is no other fountain. Pray that the Spirit will sweep away every refuge of lies, and that the sentence of death which he now feels in his spirit will slay his self-trust entirely. When a man comes to an end of himself, then he is ready to see the Son and believe on Him to everlasting life.

We will cry to the Lord for him. The great Shepherd gathers the lambs in His bosom, and He will love His own in death and throughout eternity. He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn and live. Let this season of remembrance become a means of grace, that he may be brought from false teaching to the simplicity that is in Christ, and from the fear of death to a joyful looking for the blessed hope. The Father’s will is this, that everyone who sees the Son and believes on Him may have everlasting life; and He will raise him up at the last day. Rest in that, and pray on.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Grief for the departed is a wound that cuts deep, and the arrival of his mother’s ashes has torn it afresh. Let us weep with those who weep, for such sorrow is no small thing. Yet I am constrained by grief to point beyond tears, to the medicine for the soul. Dive into the Scriptures as into a chest of remedies: get the New Testament, the Gospels, the Apostolic Epistles. There, in your affliction, you will find comfort for loss and death. For death is not the end; the dead in Christ shall rise. If she fell asleep in the Lord, she is not lost but awaits the promise of life eternal, where grief and mourning flee away. This hope is not seen, but it is sure; cling to it.

But I hear that he is confused and drawn into many false teachings. This is the greater danger. There are false prophets and deceitful workers who transform themselves into apostles of Christ, and their war is within the Church itself. Such trials are like the winds, the rain, and the floods that beat against a house. Yet the soul founded on the rock of Christ’s doctrine, the steadfast commandments of God, will not fall, even when bereavements and lies assault it. Exhort him to examine his conscience and return to the pure faith. Let him not be tossed about, but obey those who watch for his soul, and hold fast to the immovable promises of God, in which there is no “yes and no,” but always truth. If he walks with a pure conscience, this affliction can become cause for glorying, working for him an eternal weight of glory. The Lord Himself is meek; let him learn of Christ’s forbearance, and in the holy oracles he will find healing for his sorrow and confusion.

Grief can surge back with unexpected power, especially when you hold physical evidence of loss in your hands. The weight you feel is not surprising. Death is an intruder, a shadow that has passed over every one of us. And in these heavy moments, God does not watch from a distance. He is the God of all comfort, and He draws near to the brokenhearted. I am asking Him to let you sense that nearness right now, to steady your heart with His presence even as the sadness rises.

But I know you are also wrestling with confusion and ideas that do not align with the gospel. That concerns me, because the world is full of voices that promise enlightenment or relief while leading straight into spiritual death. False teachings often flourish in times of vulnerability, offering shortcuts and secret knowledge, but they cannot deliver what only Jesus Christ has accomplished. God’s law reveals the depth of our need. Every honest heart eventually cries out, “Who will deliver me from this body of death?” The answer is never a method, a teacher, or an experience; it is a person. Jesus Christ took the death sentence we deserved. His blood satisfied the righteous judgment of God against sin, so that everyone who puts their trust in Him is freely declared innocent. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That is not a truth you have to sustain by your own effort, and no false teaching can add a single thing to it.

When you were saved, if your faith is truly in Him, the old life was buried and a new life began. Sin no longer has the right to rule you. And God’s love for you is not a fluctuating thing based on your performance. He loves you through every doubt, through every tear, through every detour. His love is constant, even when you feel muddled.

So I urge you to test everything you are hearing against the clear word of Scripture. Do not let your mind be shaped by teachings that make peace with the world’s corruption or that lead you back into bondage. The life you have in the Spirit is not an idea to be tweaked but a reality to be lived in the simple, powerful truth: Christ died for your sins, He rose again, and He reigns. Let that anchor you now, in your grief and in your confusion. Pray for clarity. Open the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. He will. And as you walk through this valley, know that the comfort He gives you today may one day be the very comfort you offer to someone else who is brokenhearted.
