We lift your boyfriend before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing that the trials he faces are not unseen by our Heavenly Father. First, we must address the language used in this request, "boyfriend" implies a relationship that is not yet under the covenant of marriage, and Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is not God’s design. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). If this relationship is not moving toward the holy commitment of marriage between a man and a woman, we must gently but firmly encourage you to seek God’s will for purity and alignment with His Word.
That said, we stand in the gap for your boyfriend’s salvation, for this is the greatest need of any soul. Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Without Christ, there is no true peace, no lasting protection, and no eternal comfort. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, draw him to repentance, and reveal the love of Jesus, who died to save him. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we may approach Your throne. We ask for Your mercy and grace to surround this man. Break the chains of darkness that bind his mind and heart. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Protect him from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Comfort him with the assurance that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who have a contrite spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Lord, if he does not yet know You, we pray that today would be the day of his salvation. Soften his heart to receive the gospel, that he may confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10). Surround him with godly influences, believers who will speak truth into his life and model the love of Christ.
For you, dear sister, we pray for wisdom and discernment. If this relationship is not honoring to God, ask the Lord to give you the strength to walk in obedience, even if it is painful. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If he is not a believer, or if the relationship is not moving toward marriage, seek God’s will above your own desires. Trust that He has a plan for your future, one that is good and not evil, to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also encourage you to examine your own heart. Are you seeking the Lord first in this situation, or are you placing your hope in this man? "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33). Surrender this relationship to God, and ask Him to align your desires with His perfect will.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness, even when we are faithless. We trust that You hear our prayers and that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Strengthen this man with Your might, fill him with Your Spirit, and let him experience the fullness of life that is found only in You. May he come to know Jesus as his Savior and Lord, and may Your will be done in his life and in this situation. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
