Good and Faithful Servant
I posted this just now, "My boyfriend is going through a lot at work - they're giving him the runaround about a bonus he earned (and from what I hear, that's happening to other employees at the job too) and overworking him in general. He is a star employee at the job. He has health conditions that require him not to be stressed out or over exert himself. He made them aware of those issues when he first interviewed with the company but they have totally ignored those concerns. He is hoping to get the day off early today so he can rest until he goes back to work on the weekend. Pray they will give him the ability to get off early as their system suspiciously rarely allows them to." I meant to say at the end of my request that their system rarely allows him to get off early. Thank you.

We hear your concern for your boyfriend and his difficult situation at work. It is troubling to see employers take advantage of their employees, especially when they are aware of health conditions that require special consideration. We will lift this matter before the Lord, asking for His intervention and justice.

First, we must address the nature of your relationship. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect His love and commitment (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). While we understand your care for him, we encourage you both to prayerfully consider whether your relationship aligns with God’s design for courtship leading to marriage. If you are not yet married, we urge you to seek the Lord’s will together, ensuring that your relationship honors Him in all things, including purity and commitment (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, Hebrews 13:4).

Now, let us turn to the Lord in prayer for your boyfriend’s situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this brother who is facing injustice and disregard at his workplace. Lord, You see his dedication and the way he has honored his commitments, even while dealing with health challenges. We ask that You intervene on his behalf, softening the hearts of his employers and granting him the rest he needs. Give him wisdom to navigate this situation with grace and strength, and provide him with favor in their eyes so that he may leave early today to care for his health.

Father, we also pray for justice regarding the bonus he has rightfully earned. You are a God of righteousness, and we ask that You expose any wrongdoing and bring about fairness (Proverbs 22:22-23). Protect his heart from bitterness or despair, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind him that his worth is not defined by his job or the opinions of others but by Your unchanging love for him.

Lord, we ask that You also guard his health. You know the limitations he faces, and we pray that You would strengthen him physically and emotionally. Help him to set boundaries where necessary and to trust in You for provision and care (Matthew 6:33). If it is Your will, open doors for him to find a workplace that values him as he deserves.

We also pray for you, dear sister, that You would give you wisdom and discernment as you support him. Help you both to seek Your will in your relationship, ensuring that it honors You above all else. Draw you closer to one another and to Yourself as you navigate these challenges together.

In all things, may Your name be glorified, and may Your will be done. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you both to seek the Lord together, not only for this situation but for the direction of your relationship. Trust in Him to provide and to guide your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). If your boyfriend does not yet know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the gospel with him, for it is only through faith in Christ that we find true hope, salvation, and access to the Father (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). May the Lord bless you both as you seek Him.

We can hear in your words the weight of watching someone you love be overworked and underappreciated. It’s frustrating when a company fails to honor what an employee has earned, and even more worrying when it puts his health at risk.

Your boyfriend sounds like a dedicated and valued worker, and it’s exactly that kind of person who can end up absorbing more than is fair. Given that stress directly affects the medical conditions he disclosed, this isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a real care concern. We hope he has a good doctor who can help him manage the strain and speak into the situation, because protecting his health must come first.

For today, we join you in asking that he gets the early leave he needs to rest. But we’re also praying for bigger clarity: for wise steps he might take, maybe a candid conversation with someone in the company who has authority, or simply learning where the limits of his body are so he can honor them, no matter how much the job demands.

Lord Jesus, you see this man’s hard work and the tension he’s carrying. Please let his workplace release him early today for the rest that his body needs. Give him wisdom to handle the bonus and workload, and surround him with people who will support his health, not overlook it. Calm his and his girlfriend’s hearts with your steady presence, and bring justice and peace to this situation. In your name we pray, amen.

The true rest which the soul craveeth is not found in ceasing from labor, but in bowing the neck to the yoke of Christ. You plead for one sorely tried by unrighteous employers, whose health is despised; yet the Lord Jesus speaketh: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This is a present rest, given there and then to those who believe. It is rest on the wing, in the very act of service, not the world’s idleness, but a sweet contentment of spirit. Pray, then, not merely that he may escape the toil for an hour, but that he may learn of Him who is meek and lowly in heart, and so find rest unto his soul. For he that trusteth in the Lord shall not be confounded; though the system be suspicious and the burden heavy, God is able to make him to lie down in green pastures, even while the rod and staff are yet in sight.

Seek for him this deeper rest, for it is the portion of all who believe. Let him return unto his rest, O soul, and say, "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him." Fret not thyself because of evil men, for the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous. While I bid you ask for such mitigation of his labours as may be needful for his frame, I would urge you yet more to point him to Christ, whose rest is glorious and whose peace passeth understanding. There is a rest that remaineth, and the people of God enter it now by faith. Leaning upon the Beloved, he shall find his strength renewed; and though the body be weary, the spirit shall mount up as on eagles’ wings. This is the rest which is no foe to diligence, but a wellspring of holy labor, glorifying God.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have done well to bring this concern for your companion before the church. Trials in the workplace, when just rewards are withheld and bodily frailties ignored, press heavily upon the spirit. But remember, these afflictions are permitted by God not to destroy hope, but to wean our clinging souls from the broken cisterns of earthly comfort. The health of the body is a good thing, yet it is not the highest good; for even after a fever departs, the frame may still tremble, but Christ’s touch restores wholly and at once.

Pray, then, not only that he be granted a brief release from his labors, but that in this furnace he learn to cast every care upon the One who cares for him. The poor man who bears his poverty with thanksgiving is richer than the grasping rich, and the sick man who offers his pains to God builds a tabernacle in heaven that no scheming employer can dismantle. Stand with him in prayer, and let the whole body of believers intercede, for the prayers of many prevailing together are a mighty flood. Yet do not measure God’s love by the granting of an afternoon’s rest.

Often He withholds the smaller gift to bestow the greater: a heart detached from the madness of bonuses and fretting, and fixed firmly on that eternal Sabbath where there is no overwork, no injustice, and no stress. Love him enough to desire the health of his soul above the ease of his body, and in all things submit your requests with thanksgiving, trusting that the Lord knows what is needful.

I hear the weight in your words, and I understand the ache of watching someone you care about be treated unfairly. When a workplace ignores a person’s known health needs and withholds what is rightfully earned, it stirs anxiety and a desire for justice. That desire is not wrong, we are meant to care for one another’s burdens. But in the middle of it, there is an invitation to step off the treadmill of worry and into something deeper: the rest God offers.

That rest isn’t found in a changed schedule, a boss’s sudden fairness, or even in a bonus finally released. Those things may come, and we can ask for them, but they will never quiet the soul by themselves. True rest comes through faith, simply believing that Jesus has already accomplished everything needed for our standing before God, and that He holds every detail of our lives. The promise stands: “For we which have believed do enter into rest.” It is a rest you enter by trusting Him with the outcome, not by seeing the outcome first and then relaxing. I know that feels difficult. We often think, “If God would just show me how this will work out, I could rest.” But the only place you will ever rest is in faith, not in visibility.

Your boyfriend is facing real pressure, overwork, ignored accommodations, a bonus dangled out of reach. His body needs relief. I understand the urgency of asking for an early end to his day. But I want to gently remind you both that physical health, while a gift to be stewarded, is not a perfect barometer of God’s favor. Scripture records the apostle’s warm prayer that a friend might prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered, and it is right to pray for physical well-being. Yet godly people still face illness, accidents, and injustice. We do not know why some endure years of strain while others seem untouched. What we do know is that our ultimate rest is not in a stress-free body but in a Savior who walked through suffering and invites us to cast every care on Him.

So here is the path forward, not only for him but for you as you carry this concern. Commit the whole tangled situation to the Lord. Tell Him plainly, “I rest on You. We need help.” Refuse to fret over the schemes of unfair supervisors or the apparent prosperity of those who act deceitfully. Evil men will be cut off, but those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth. You do not need to fight this battle as if God’s reputation depends on your defense. He is perfectly capable of handling it, and He sees what the company is doing. Instead of letting your heart churn with every new report, take a day, literally or figuratively, to step aside with the Lord. Cease from the anxious mental labor, as God ceased from His works, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. That is the Sabbath rest that Jesus fulfills for us: not a mere day off, but a ceasing from self-dependent striving.

You mentioned the system rarely allows him to get off early. That feels like a trap. But remember, all judgment comes from the Lord. No manager’s decision is final; every favor and every disappointment passes through His hands first. So pray with openness: ask for the early release, ask for his health to be protected, ask for justice regarding the bonus. But then leave it in God’s lap. When you have done that, resist the impulse to take it back. You don’t need a new revelation or a dramatic sign; what He has already spoken in His Word is enough to anchor you.

We are told to bear one another’s burdens, and that is what you are doing by bringing this here. I want you to know that you are not alone. As servants of the flock, we are here to stand with you in prayer, not as lords over your situation, but as fellow travelers who need the same help. Whether the need is physical, emotional, or spiritual, the body of Christ is meant to be a close-knit fellowship, a shelter in times of trouble. Please reach out and let us pray with you personally. There is no need to struggle in silence.

May your boyfriend find that even in a exhausting workplace, his soul can be at rest because he knows the One who carries him. And may you both learn that daily dependence isn’t a last resort when all other options fail, it is the very design of a life hidden in Christ.

We want to thank you for sharing your heart and allowing us to stand with you in prayer for your boyfriend during this challenging time at work. It’s clear how much you care for him, and we’ve been lifting him up before the Lord, asking for His peace, protection, and provision in this situation.

We’ve prayed specifically that his employers would recognize his hard work and honor his earned bonus, that they would treat him—and all their employees—with fairness and respect. We’ve also asked the Lord to grant him the early departure he needs today so he can rest and recover, especially given his health concerns. We know how discouraging it can be when those in authority overlook or dismiss important needs, and we’ve asked God to intervene in a way that only He can.

If the Lord has already answered these prayers—perhaps by granting him that early release or softening hearts at his workplace—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you! If not, please don’t hesitate to post this request again and let us continue to lift him up together. We believe God is working even when we can’t see it, and we’re committed to standing with you both in faith.

May the Lord surround your boyfriend with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and may He give you both wisdom and strength as you navigate this season. We’re trusting that He will provide in ways that glorify His name and meet every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
