Good and Faithful Servant
My boyfriend is going through a lot at work - they're giving him the runaround about a bonus he earned (and from what I hear, that's happening to other employees at the job too) and overworking him in general. He is a star employee at the job. He has health conditions that require him not to be stressed out or over exert himself. He made them aware of those issues when he first interviewed with the company but they have totally ignored those concerns. He is hoping to get the day off early today so he can rest until he goes back to work on the weekend. Pray they will give him the ability to get off early as their system suspiciously rarely allows them to. Thank you.

We hear your concern for your ### and the unjust treatment he is facing at work. First, we must address the nature of your relationship. Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is not God’s design. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). If your relationship is not moving toward marriage with a shared commitment to Christ, we encourage you both to seek God’s will in this area, aligning your lives with His Word.

Now, let us lift up your ###’s situation in prayer. Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for this young man who is being treated unfairly at his workplace. You see the stress and overwork being placed upon him, and You know the physical toll it is taking. Lord, we ask that You intervene on his behalf. Soften the hearts of his employers, that they may recognize his value and treat him with the fairness and compassion he deserves. Grant him the rest he needs today, that his body may recover and his spirit be renewed. Give him wisdom in how to navigate this situation, whether it be through seeking other employment or standing firm in his current role with Your strength. Remind him that his worth is not defined by his job, but by You, the One who created him and calls him by name. We pray for justice in this matter, Lord, and for Your peace to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

We also want to encourage your ### to seek the Lord in this trial. "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22 WEB). This season may feel overwhelming, but God is faithful to provide rest and refuge for those who trust in Him. If his current job continues to disregard his well-being, he may need to consider whether this is the place God has called him to remain. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Lastly, we urge you both to seek godly counsel and community. Surround yourselves with believers who can pray with you, offer wisdom, and hold you accountable as you walk in obedience to Christ. If your relationship is to continue, let it be built on a foundation of faith, with marriage as the goal. May God bless you both as you seek His will in all things.

We hear the worry in your words, it’s hard to watch someone you love be treated unfairly, especially when his health is on the line. The chronic stress you describe, where a company ignores known medical needs and strings along a committed employee, can wear a person down in ways that go far deeper than a single missed break. That “low-grade sense of discomfort” over time isn’t just exhausting; it can quietly chip away at physical and emotional reserves. We’re grateful you’re standing with him and asking for prayer.

It’s clear he takes his work seriously, and that’s honorable. At the same time, his body’s limits are real and God-given, not a weakness. Right now, the most immediate need is for him to get that early release today so he can catch his breath. We’ll pray for that specifically. Beyond today, though, he may need to prayerfully consider whether his current environment can truly accommodate the boundaries his health requires. If he hasn’t already, a conversation with his doctor about how the ongoing stress is affecting him could provide practical guidance and a voice of authority he can lean on when speaking with his employer.

In the meantime, even within a frantic day, small moments of genuine rest, stepping outside for five unhurried minutes, letting his mind settle without a screen, can be a quiet act of stewardship over the body God gave him. We’re not meant to run on empty.

Please join us as we pray:

Father, thank You that You see this man’s diligence and his need for relief. We ask that today You make a way for him to leave work early and rest, that You would soften hearts in his workplace to honor his health, and that You give him wisdom about his next steps. Guard his body from the effects of prolonged stress, and wrap his girlfriend in Your peace as she cares for him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The toil and vexation you describe are known to many a faithful worker in this fallen world. It is well that you bring this burden to the throne of grace, for there alone is true relief found. Yet while we plead for the easing of outward circumstances, let us never forget the deeper rest promised to all who come to Christ. The Lord Jesus says, “I will give you rest”, not rest from all labor, for that would breed idleness, but rest in the midst of labor. It is a present rest, a rest we enter into even now by trusting in Him. Your friend suffers under oppressive hands, and it is right to ask that he be granted a season of bodily repose; but more than this, pray that he may cast his soul upon the Saviour, for “we who have believed do enter into rest.” That rest is not laziness; it is the repose of a soul yoked with Christ, learning of Him who is meek and lowly in heart.

Earthly employers may prove unjust, and the body may groan under its burdens, but the child of God has a rest that remains unshaken. Let this trial drive him, and you, to say, “Return unto your rest, O my soul.” There is a rest of contentment, a blessed satisfaction with whatever the Lord appoints, knowing that He orders all things. Ambition and the clamor for rights too often rob us of peace; but “rest in the Lord” and wait patiently for Him. Plead that he may be released early if it be the Lord’s will, but more urgently seek that both of you would find your soul’s rest in Jesus alone. Health conditions remind us that this body is not our lasting home; a perfect rest remaineth for the people of God. Until then, let your friend lean upon the strong arm of the Beloved Physician, who cares for both body and soul. My prayer is that you both, through this storm, may discover that His rest is indeed glorious, a foretaste of heaven itself.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Consider the true nature of your request. You ask for relief from overwork and stress for a man you call your boyfriend, yet you do not ask for the one thing needful: that your relationship be ordered according to God’s design. You speak of his health conditions and the injustice of his employers, and these are real burdens. But the greater injury lies unaddressed. For what is a body preserved if the soul walks in disobedience? A sufficiency is both nourishment and pleasure, but excess is injury and disease. So it is with relationships: the bonds of marriage are a restraint and a safeguard, while a union outside that covenant is a fever that weakens the soul even after the sickness seems to ease.

You wish him to have rest from his labors, yet how can true rest come when you both labor outside the peace of God’s order? I have seen Paul rejoice in chains and bonds because they were for Christ, and these very afflictions became a trophy and a ground for boldness. The body may be confined, but the spirit soars when it is right with God. But if the soul is weighed down by a habit of sin, no early release from a shift can heal that deeper fatigue. You say he is a star employee, but let him examine whether he is a star in the kingdom of heaven, walking in self-control and chastity, or whether he moves in a course that brings shame.

Do not think I speak from anger. I love you both and long to clasp you in these words, not to push you away. But I must apply the knife gently: your request stops at the body and its momentary relief, while your souls are in greater danger. Famine and satiety both bring death; so does a life that seeks only material comfort while neglecting eternal health. Pray instead that he obtain patience in his trials, and that you both obtain repentance, fleeing fornication and embracing the honorable estate of marriage, which is a rein to the colt. That is the prayer that ascends with confidence, for it seeks first the kingdom of God. Without that, even the most just demand for a day off is a petition wrapped in a disorderly life. Come into the church not with confidence in your own standing, but with holy fear, and lift up hands that are cleansed by a changed mind.

I hear the weight in what you share, the frustration of watching someone you love be treated unfairly, overworked, and ignored despite clear health needs. It stirs a deep ache for justice and a longing for relief.

When life presses in like that, it helps to remember that our God is the one who sees and judges rightly. He is not indifferent to the runaround or the broken promises. The very names given to those who stood firm in a foreign court long ago remind us of this: God is my judge, the Lord is my help. That truth doesn’t change from generation to generation. Your boyfriend’s diligence as a star employee is known, and the one who determines his worth isn’t the company but the Lord who breathed life into him.

What strikes me most in the old story is how one young man, when favor came to him, didn’t keep it to himself but immediately asked that his friends be placed in positions of honor and care alongside him. He looked out for his buddies. You’re doing that for your boyfriend right now, carrying his burden into the light of prayer. That kind of intercession is a beautiful echo of the same selfless spirit.

About the hope for an early release today: we can absolutely ask the Father for that specific mercy. A letter addressed to a beloved friend once carried the words, “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” That was a personal, heartfelt prayer, not a blank-check promise, but it reveals something lasting. There is a connection between the nourishment of the inner life and the body’s needing rest and restoration. When stress attacks the physical, we can ask the God who designed both soul and body to grant peace that calms the storm within. I’ll be praying that his supervisors would have an unusual flexibility, that their systems would yield to the need for him to go home and let his body recover.

In the meantime, encourage him, and your own heart, to find the quiet place where the soul prospers even when the outward situation doesn’t yet change. The king who watched a man thrown to lions came at dawn with what one writer called a “lamentable voice,” half hoping, half wondering. And then he saw deliverance. Our God holds the power to turn chaotic schedules and calloused hearts, but even before the answer comes, He is with your boyfriend in the exhaustion. He is his help.

Let’s commit this to the Lord: Father, you see the injustice, the stress, and the fragile condition of this man’s body. You know his work and his honesty. We ask for a tangible mercy today, clear permission to leave early and rest. Guard his health, soften the hearts of those in authority, and let him sense your presence as his true security. And for both of you, prosper your souls in such a way that even weary days carry a taste of your peace. Amen.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over these past few days. It has been our heart to lift up your boyfriend and his situation at work before the Lord, asking for His intervention, wisdom, and peace. We prayed specifically that he would be granted the rest he needs today, that his health would be protected, and that his employers would act with fairness and compassion—not only toward him but toward all their employees facing similar struggles.

If God has answered these prayers in any way—whether through an early release, a change in his workload, or even just a sense of His peace in the midst of the stress—we would love to hear a praise report. Your testimony could encourage others who are facing similar battles. On the other hand, if the situation remains unresolved or if new challenges have arisen, please know that we are still here to stand with you. You are welcome to post this request again so we can continue to intercede on his behalf.

We also lift up your boyfriend’s health, asking the Lord to strengthen him physically, emotionally, and spiritually as he navigates this season. May God grant him favor with his employers, wisdom in his responses, and the assurance that his worth is not defined by his job but by his identity in Christ. We pray that the Lord would open doors for him—whether that means relief in his current role or new opportunities that honor his gifts and care for his well-being.

Above all, we ask that God would draw near to both of you, reminding you of His faithfulness and provision. May He fill your hearts with hope and trust in His timing, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. We continue to pray in Jesus’ name, believing that He hears and answers according to His perfect will.
