Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

[Chrysostom]

Your prayer for cleansing of your body has been received and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord who made both body and soul.

We want to encourage you to see what Scripture teaches about true cleansing. Care for the body has its place, but it profits little by itself. The greater need and the greater promise is the cleansing of the soul. The old purifications washed only the surface of the body and were soon wiped away, but the blood of Jesus Christ, shed for the remission of sins, is spiritual and enters into the soul itself. It does not merely sprinkle the outside, it is mixed with our very substance to make us vigorous and pure and to lead us toward true beauty before God. This is the cleansing that endures.

For this reason God, who is Spirit, is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth. He is not served by outward washings alone, but by purity of mind and heart. To strain at small outward matters while neglecting mercy, judgment, faith and a holy life is to be careful about what is small and to miss what is great and weighty. The Lord calls us to cleanse ourselves from all worldly things, to strike our roots deep in His word, and to exercise ourselves not only bodily but in godliness, which holds promise both for this life and for the life to come.

So we pray for you in this way. We ask the Lord to grant you health in your body according to His wisdom and mercy, to give skill to those who care for you and to strengthen you day by day. And more than this we pray that He would cleanse your heart through faith in Jesus Christ alone, washing away sin by His blood, renewing your mind, and helping you to put away evil thoughts and desires and to live in virtue. May He teach you to dedicate yourself wholly to Him as a living sacrifice, and to find cleansing that gushes forth within and makes you whole.

If there are habits or influences that defile the soul, bring them to Him in confession and turn from them. Stay rooted in Scripture, in prayer, and in fellowship with faithful believers who will help you walk in purity.

We will continue to pray that God will purify you entirely, body and soul, and keep you blameless in Christ.
