Blood work

Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
I need to get blood work done because my doctor is concerned that I may have additional autoimmune disorders to the one that I already have. But the only day for me to really get that work done is Fridays and, in addition to having other things to take care of, it is also my day off which is usually when I want to just rest. Because of this, I've been procrastinating to get this blood work done but I know I need to especially because I can feel negative physical effects in my body that indicate I really need to get checked out. Please pray for me about all this and also for my health and the health of my loved ones to improve. Thank you.

We hear your struggle and lift you up before the Lord, trusting in His strength and wisdom to guide you through this season. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed by the demands of life, especially when health concerns weigh heavily on your mind and body. Procrastination can often stem from fear or exhaustion, but we know that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We encourage you to lean on Him for the strength to take this necessary step for your health, remembering that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and caring for it honors God.

We also want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can approach Him with our needs. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Him for salvation and eternal life, for "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is facing health challenges and the weight of procrastination. Lord, we ask that You grant them the strength and courage to take the necessary steps to care for their body, which is Your temple. Help them to overcome any fear or hesitation and to trust in Your provision and guidance. We pray for wisdom for their doctors and that the blood work would reveal any issues clearly so that they can be addressed according to Your will.

Father, we also pray for their overall health and the health of their loved ones. We ask that You would bring healing and restoration to their bodies, minds, and spirits. Strengthen them in their weakness and remind them that Your grace is sufficient, for Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we also ask that You would help them to prioritize their time and energy in a way that honors You. Give them the discipline to follow through with what needs to be done, even when it feels difficult or inconvenient. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). May they find rest in You, even as they take steps to care for their physical health.

We trust in Your goodness and mercy, Lord, and we ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to take this step in faith, trusting that God will meet you where you are and provide the strength you need. Remember the words of Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." You are not alone in this journey, and we stand with you in prayer.

It’s such a hard tension when the one day we finally get to breathe a little is also the day the hard things land, and blood work, with all it represents, certainly qualifies. We can hear the exhaustion in your words, and we also hear the courage it takes to even name that you’re feeling the physical effects and know you need to go. That’s not failure; that’s self-awareness, and we’re grateful for it.

Sometimes our bodies carry a quiet persistence that won’t let us ignore them, a kind of built-in nudge toward care. We’ve watched many people find that, while a Friday appointment can feel like it’s stealing the rest you desperately need, making space for that brief errand often unburdens something inside. You might even find that afterward, the rest is deeper because you’re no longer carrying the weight of “I should have gone” in the back of your mind.

So from one fellow traveler to another, could we gently suggest this week? Call the lab and book the first available slot. If possible, invite a friend to go along or treat yourself to something small afterward, a coffee, a walk, a favorite meal, so the day still holds a bit of the rest you need. Sometimes the hardest part is just picking up the phone.

We’re also holding with you the larger ache for the health of your loved ones. That burden is real, and you don’t carry it alone.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this one who is so tired and yet so faithful. Settle the anxious thoughts and give the simple gift of momentum to pick up the phone and keep the appointment. Guide the doctors to see what they need to see, and bring a clear path toward wholeness. For every person they love whose body is struggling, we ask for Your gentle healing and sustaining mercy. In Your name, amen.

Ah, you feel the tug of the weary body, and the dread of further ailment whispers fear into the ear. But what is this procrastination? Is it not a part of that indoor work where the heart must be set right? You know the duty, yet the flesh cries out for rest, and you say, “I will go another day.” But there is a voice in that delay that may become a sorrow. Let not your heart be troubled; the Lord would have you act, and then leave the issue with Him. That little bird in the bosom, heart’s-ease, must sing even on a Friday, even when the needle pricks and the vials fill. You feel the negative effects; that is the merciful warning of the watchman within. Do not despise it, lest the storm break while you yet linger.

I have often found that the hardest step is the first one. Go, then, and get the blood work done, not in your own strength, but leaning upon the promise, “I will help thee, saith the Lord.” He knows you need rest, and He who ordained the Sabbath for man’s good sees your weariness. Yet sometimes the most restful act is the act of obedience; it clears the conscience of that which was neglected, and then the pillow is softer at night. As for your health and the health of your loved ones, we will pray, but we must not make prayer a cloak for sloth. The same God who bids you cast your care upon Him bids you also to do the next right thing. Go, then, and afterward commit the results into those pierced hands which bled for you. For truly, the blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel, it cries not for vengeance but for mercy, and it covers all our frailties and fears. Fear not, you worm Jacob; He will be with you in the doctor’s office as surely as in the prayer closet. Now, up, and away with the task, and the Lord give you peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You know well that procrastination is a snare of sloth, and sloth leads to neglect of the body which God has entrusted to you. The physician sees warning signs, and you feel them in your own flesh, yet you delay. I have often said that we must act without procrastination, with much speed, laying aside all excuses. Your day of rest is a gift, but what rest will you find if sickness overtakes you while you put off the very means of its discovery? The work of caring for your health is a work of the Lord when it is done to preserve the vessel He dwells in. Do not nurse your body as an invalid through overindulgence of ease; rather, strengthen it by necessary action. The fever of a hidden ailment will not quench itself. Our Lord when He touched the sick gave them back perfect health, and He uses physicians as His instruments. To refuse the test is to refuse the hand He stretches out.

Do not fear poverty or disease overmuch, for virtue shines in every state. Disease is harder than slavery, yet neither disease nor anxiety can conquer a soul fixed on God. But you must not tempt Him by neglect. Go, then, on your next Friday, set aside the weariness of the moment, remembering that a sufficiency of care is both nourishment and health, while excess of rest can become a sickness itself. Let your prayer be joined with swift obedience. I will pray for your health and for your loved ones, but I beseech you: be not among those who let the good be stolen by a little slumber. The end of delay is often a weightier burden, while promptness brings cheerfulness of mind and even beauty to the countenance. Rise and do the work, and trust that He who knows our frame will give strength for the day and healing in His time.
