Blessings to overcome Financial debt

Roshan Dsouza

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, I come before you in the name of Jesus, asking for your forgiveness of all my sins and blessings. I am burdened with a debt and I am being harassed by calls and visits from the banks, which has brought shame to my family. Lord, I ask for your divine intervention and a miracle, so that debt collections agencies close my accounts completely and I will no longer need to make payments, as I have already paid them more than I borrowed. I am also receiving threats from the banks, warning of legal actions and that they will contact my friends and family to harass them. Additionally, I owe money with interest. My desire is to repay everyone. If these people continue to harass me or my contacts, it could jeopardize my new job and leave me unemployed again. Lord I ask for your intervention to stop harassment and repeated calls from every debt collection agency and individual to whom I have to repay to me, my family and friends, as their presence disrupts our peace. Jesus, please help that no one visit my home to whom I have to pay else that will create a huge problem. Please hear my prayer and grant me peace and resolution. Lord, I ask for your miracle and intervention by granting me a personal loan and I get the same without any hassle as it will help me to pay off all my debts. I ask this in Jesus name. Praise the Lord. Amen.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting your burdens to the Lord who is our Provider and Peace. Financial struggles can weigh heavily on the heart, and the harassment you’re facing is not only distressing but also disruptive to the peace God desires for you and your family. We first want to affirm that your desire to repay what you owe aligns with Scripture, as the Word tells us, *"The wicked borrows and doesn’t pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives"* (Psalm 37:21). Your heart to honor your obligations is commendable, and we believe God sees your integrity in this.

However, we must address the request for a "miracle" where debt collectors close your accounts completely without repayment, even though you’ve already paid more than you borrowed. While we understand the overwhelming pressure you’re under, Scripture is clear that we are to *"render to all what is due them: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor. Owe no one anything, except to love one another"* (Romans 13:7-8). Debt is not sinful in itself, but failing to repay what we owe is not aligned with God’s principles. Instead of asking for debts to be erased, we should seek God’s wisdom in managing them, His provision to meet them, and His protection from unjust harassment.

The threats and harassment you’re experiencing from debt collectors are deeply concerning. While creditors have a right to seek repayment, they are not permitted to harass, threaten, or shame you. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) protects consumers from abusive practices, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with your rights. You may also consider sending a written request to cease communication under the FDCPA, which legally requires them to stop calling. Additionally, Scripture reminds us, *"If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men"* (Romans 12:18). While you cannot control the actions of others, you can take steps to protect your peace and your family’s well-being.

We also want to gently address the mention of interest. While modern financial systems often include interest, Scripture warns against exploitative lending practices: *"If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you charge him interest"* (Exodus 22:25). If the interest you’re paying is unjust or overwhelming, we encourage you to seek financial counseling from a trusted, biblically grounded source to help you negotiate or restructure your debts in a way that is fair and manageable.

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by debt and harassed by those seeking repayment. Lord, You are our Provider, and we trust in Your promise that *"my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19). We ask for Your divine intervention in this situation, Lord. Grant wisdom to navigate these financial challenges and protect our brother/sister from unjust harassment. Give them favor in their new job, that it may be secure and provide the means to honor their obligations.

Father, we pray for peace to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Where there is fear or shame, replace it with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). We ask for Your guidance in managing these debts, that they may be repaid in a way that honors You and brings restoration. Lord, if there are any unjust practices in the interest or collection methods, expose them and provide a way forward that is fair and righteous.

We also pray for the creditors, Lord. Soften their hearts and grant them integrity in their dealings. Let them see this situation not as an opportunity for harassment, but as a chance to show grace and understanding. We declare that no weapon formed against our brother/sister shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.

Finally, Lord, we ask for Your provision. Open doors for financial blessings, whether through their job, a godly loan, or unexpected resources, so that these debts may be settled in a way that glorifies You. Teach us all to trust in You with our finances, knowing that *"the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness"* (Psalm 24:1). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who has redeemed us from the curse of the law and broken every chain. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a financial advisor who shares your faith or a trusted mentor who can help you create a plan to address these debts. Remember, *"The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty"* (Proverbs 21:5). Take small, faithful steps, and trust that God will multiply your efforts.

We also urge you to meditate on God’s promises, such as *"I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread"* (Psalm 37:25). Stand on these truths, and do not let fear or shame dictate your actions. You are not defined by your debt, but by your identity in Christ, who has made you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).

Lastly, if you have not already, consider giving generously even in your lack, as the widow did with her two mites (Mark 12:41-44). God honors a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and He often provides in unexpected ways when we put Him first. This is not a call to irresponsibility, but to trust that He will meet your needs as you honor Him with what you have.

We stand with you in faith, believing that God will bring resolution to this situation. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The Lord is your Shepherd; you shall not want (Psalm 23:1).
